Bob's 80th - doesn't Barb look excited?
How strange to put a birthday cake in front of a computer... said DDC while eating fried eggs next to his computer, having a late-night snack and browsing CWCki forums simultanously.

spices on the shelf of what appear to be home movies or TV recordings on VHS

what strange people hoarders are

Could that have been shot in the kitchen? They kept a desktop computer there, right? And Bob is sitting at one in that picture. It's also a logical place to eat cake. It may be a case of hoard invading the kitchen rather than the other way around

Then again, Barb appears to be sleeping next to a couple of sauces in the classic Snorlax photo. Maybe they just liked to add spice to their lives wherever they are.

Like how Bob keep his stances. Feels like photoshop.

And of course Chris has to make himself the center of attention in his shot with Dad.

Yeah, they kept the computer in the kitchen. In "Bob walks in" Chris was fapping in the kitchen on-line. Probably the only place in the house at that point with enough room.

I just noticed that they had am America online book for dummies.

...aol for dummies.

Well Bob was an elderly former engineer who had an interest in exploring newer technology as a hobby. He is exactly the target audience of those large computer manuals.

Also, I think one of the definitions of living in a hoard is that you don't have a good answer to questions like "Why the hell do you have that?"

I love how barb treats him like a babbling child in this video.
To be fair, it's the best attitude towards anything Chris says in that video.

Also, I think one of the definitions of living in a hoard is that you don't have a good answer to questions like "Why the hell do you have that?"
I think you got that wrong. Actually, people living in a hoard have a lot of good answers as to why they own something. The explanations might be elaborate, varied and creative, but the reason why anything is in the hoard is most likely "Barb got it cheap and attributes some vague value to this item."

In Bob's case he was dealing with what can safely assume was an absolute bitch of a spouse. As long as he had an area he probably just gave up. I seriously don't blame the old fella.

Bob either liked to read about computers (or computer-related things), or genuinely couldn't figure out that new fangled technology. Even though Bob was an engineer and knew how to work with machines my vote is for the latter.

Where does one find those kinds of shirts in adult sizes these days?
Besides Goodwill? No clue.

Considering there's a photo of Bob reading an admittedly technical IBM manual from the 1980's I'm willing to bet he either has the AOL book because at the time there weren't comprehensive guides/manuals available for the service, or the book actually belongs to Barb (or Chris) since neither of them can use a basic home appliance without blowing up a house.
