Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Sounds like you need... New Vegas.

Id totally play Vegas if I could get the fukkin mods to work. My autistic ass can't maintain a stable game for the life of me. I simply can't play vanilla, combat is way to janky. Its a shame too, narratively its next to none.

In other news, my frame rate has dropped to a consistent 10-20 after I entered the bar to talk to the blue haired bitch. Tried lowering my settings, restarting the game, reverting to older saves, etc but nothing seems to work. Its definitely not my hardware, so the Poles probably fukked it up.

One of the more memorable games I've played is the first Mirror's Edge. It's from 2009, but it still stands out well today.

Part of it comes from the prebaked lighting, but another huge part of it comes from restrained-yet-unique art direction and world design, the simple and satisfying running mechanics, and the excellent soundtrack.

I think it's proof that you don't need to do everything to create a satisfying game- the new Mirror's Edge indulges itself a bit too much while spreading itself a bit too thin (trying to reboot the story & the setting, while adding new spokes to the wheel), and falls short as a result.

IMO, indie games can sometimes have extremely deep game mechanics because they're not expected to look 'next-gen' and can thus focus their attention on those mechanics. AAA games are sort of 'expected' to look that way for maximum marketability, and can be trapped in that destructive graphical arms race.
Big budget AAA titles need to sell crazy numbers to be considered a sucess, if normies flock to buy CP2077 because they are expecting this exciting rollercoaster ride but suddenly get Baldurs gate II they are going to be refunding it quickly and rating it autistic/10 even if hardcore crpg fans love it , and big developers need those normies to reach their estimates, indies can just stick to the niche and do well because of it.

Must be super hard balancing gameplay for that many differing expectations, its like its set to fail from the start. i personally seen people who didn´t even give a shit about the witcher simply because the medieval theme is too nerdy get excited about cyberpunk, Some are expecting a gta styled shooter others are expecting a pen and paper rpg, Its bound to dissapoint both to a degree,

I still can't understand if people play Cyberpunk because there's absolutely nothing to play right now, or because the game has a legit quality that makes it more than a mediocre product. It's definitely not the gameplay (unless the customization is good), so does the story or sidequests redeem it?

From what I understand, it is nostalgia galore. Misty is inspired by Pris, or kinda is Pris for that matter. There's references to The Matrix here. Etcetera.

Which is alright for me, but it pales in comparison to cyberpunk medium like Ghost in the Shell: SAC. I like GitS because technology is not a big deal so much as the philosophy and politics that have been conjured up as a result of the technology. It's not just an "us against the system"-type shtick.

I never fapped for this.

Hotfix 1.04 just came out. Wonder if based FitGirl will add it to the repack xhe just released or not but I have no clue how these things work and if there's enough of a point to updating.

  • Modified the flashing effect on braindances to reduce the risk of inducing epileptic symptoms. The effect has been smoothed out and the flashes reduced in frequency and magnitude.
For me it's the original uncensored creative vision of the game pre-1.04.

It's the latter, but it's not like the gameplay completely sucks, I don't know where people are getting that idea. The gunplay is serviceable if nothing special, but shit like hacking is fun as hell. It really does feel like System Shock at some points.

Doesn't change the fact that the supposed "Game of The Decade" isn't really that special and innovative. The gameplay is serviceable but is it truly worth 8 years of wait and is it on the level of other Triple-A games or even higher?

There only reason why Cyberpunk 2077 is special is because of hype and CDPR being the "good" guys. And because of Cyberpunk itself, but really, it wouldn't be as hyped if Ubisoft did it (and the end product would be just as mediocre).

Agreed on all points but I'd also make a case for customization. I had no trouble building my dweeby agile infiltrator who can also throw a punch from the beginning of the game, and while there's not a lot of room to give V different personalities, being a smarmy little overconfident shit is the sort of character I intended on playing anyway, and the game lets me do just that.

ETA:

If anyone was believing the Game of the Decade hype before the game even came out, that's on them. The games industry does this for ever new AAA release. If you're old enough to purchase this game legally, you're old enough to be expected to manage your own expectations.

No, but it's still a fun game. People aren't going to stop playing a game that they mostly enjoy just because it's not a 10/10 masterpiece or the marketing was deceptive. It's not like the game is mediocre, it's just good instead of game of the decade.

Don't you have a feeling game is always pushing you with "charge in & gunz blazing" option? It must be quite of experience to play as nerdy guy with little expertise in weapon and melee. A fucking Planescape: Torment had more options and it was released in 1999.

GG CDPR no re

Heard stealth is barely functional which sucks cause I was hoping this game would at least scratch my Deus Ex itch.

The vast majority of the skills and perks in the game are exclusively combat related.

I'll buy the game, but at a later date, and when I:
  • Get a better PC (probably in the middle of the Spring 2021, idk)
  • Get a PS5 (whenever that happens), or
  • They fix the damn game on PS4.
Based on the reviews, I'll wait a while. I had a hunch something like this would happen at launch.
Wait for PS5/PC version. Will be updated and better optimized.

Also, had an actual fun glitch. It was kind of annoying though. Killed a group of guys, looted them all except 1. The guy died, but was still "alive". He kept saying "finally a fucking challenge" even though I cut off all his limbs and blew a hole in his torso. Couldn't pop his head though.

Some Ordinary Gamers made a glowing review of cyberpunk. Conveniently he neglected to mention anything about vehicle physics, anything about the melee combat, or elaborating on the gunplay at all beyond "It's pretty good". He also tried to explain away the bugs by basically just saying "It's a big, detailed game, deal with it. Video games are hard to make".

"I had to delete the game and install an earlier version of it for it to be playable... but after that you know it was good..."

C'mon bruh.
