That page is complete shit. It's clearly supposed to be for games that are complete disasters and objectively 2-3/10s, like ET, Superman 64, Big Rigs, or Sonic '06, but instead it's a bunch of games that are pretty mediocre but have gotten a huge hatedom online, and should thus include shit like Diablo 3, the Warcraft 2 remaster, or TLoU 2, and TLoU 2 is specifically prevented from being on the page because of one sentence in the header about review bombing. In fact, half the games on that page seem to be on it because of an AVGN video, and he states on his site that he often blows mediocre games out of proportion to make a funny video.
I understood this as games that were widely received negatively, irrespective of their actual objective quality. In Cyberpunk 2077's case part of it is hype backlash.

Taking a second look at the list, I'm noticing the absence of Warcraft III: Reforged, which was not only universally reviled, but another embarrassment for Blizzard.

It should be about their objective quality. The counterpart page is "list of games considered the best" with a shitton of sources pointing towards the actual reviews. Meanwhile, it's mostly internet drama on this page, and anything should be eligible at that point. There's so many glaring omissions that it's mind-boggling. Where's the entry for the XIII remake, for instance, which is sitting at a 34 on Metacritic and was actually getting 3/10s from publications?

Yea would say Reforged beats out Cyberpunk by a little due to the fact they wiped out the older version of the game along with dropping on the promises no way to go back without having it on Disk or before the wipe.

Anyone get an archive?

interesting, wonder if he got hate from SJWS for exposing Judy isn't a lesbo or if CDPR contacted them to take it down after it was getting shared on the main subreddit. Got a feeling CDPR is gonna patch out the male and female v lines for the "cut" Judy and Panam romances. Makes me wonder if the other romances are similar and they're all bi. If so CDPR should restore them cause River and Kerry fucking suck and are easily missed.

The weird thing is, isn’t game dev chock of similar game dev failures, with several big AAA failures in recent years? There’s probably more case studies of what not to do, than of best practices out th

Literally a Dude-trust-me post, but interesting rumors on the dev issues:
Don't worry. There is a good chance that these mechanics appear during the year, because they were created, but they were cut out before the game premiere. After the premiere, a lot of facts and stories about the game's production started to be revealed. It seems to me that this information does not reach the English-speaking media, but there is a lot of it in the Polish language.

The most important ones are: The game has been developed since 2012. Originally, the game was supposed to resemble very much the Witcher 3 (we were supposed to play with a detective known from the first trailer, the game was supposed to have a first-person and third-person view, be dark, and the main storyline was supposed to talk about the conspiracy of the corporation with the government connected with the plague of cyberpsychois.

In 2016 the scriptwriter was changed and despite the advanced work on the game (which was to come out in 2017 at the latest) the whole game was deleted and started again. The new scenario was much more complex and soon it turned out that the used game engine is not able to work properly with such an advanced game. In 2016 the whole game was rewritten for the new engine. In 2018 the acting sessions for the game were already in progress. The game assumed that the scenario will look completely different depending on the choice of gender, character orgin, and the result of the mission with the chip. It was supposed to be 18 different games! Each scenario had its own missions, unique characters and locations. For example, the results of a mission with a stolen chip depended on whether Jackie dies and it is the V who will implant the chip, Jackie will survive and it is he who will implant the chip, or maybe we will tempt the corporation and give the chip back and Jackie will survive but be our enemy. Each of these three scenarios had its own narrator.

One of them was Johnny Silverhand. Keanu Reeves liked the script so much that he asked for a bigger role for his character. As a result, the whole story was rebuilt and the other two narrators were thrown out of the game. One of them was definitely supposed to be Hideo Kojima. The other one was probably Jackie. We also know that in one of the scenarios the character played a huge role of Lady Gaga (it is possible that she was to be the third narrator).

As a result of additional work (an important factor was the employment of people with no experience in managerial positions, who with their stupid ideas sabotaged the work of programmers) many advanced gameplay mechanics were neglected. In mid-2019 it became obvious that the game will not be ready by 2020. It was therefore decided to cut out further storyline elements such as: storyline threads regardless of gender, an advanced system of relations with gangs, characters about corporations, 8 hours of prologue, which was summarized into a film interlude, and which explained the rules of the world to the player, built a tower with characters, and taught the mechanic.

In early 2020, all versions of the game were full of bugs, plot inconsistencies and mechanics that were not working, and the game itself was unoptimized. The postponement of the first release was only to cut out more missions and mechanics such as: advanced AI of drivers, opponents and police, crowd AI, advanced model of environmental damage and vehicles. The following were thrown out of the game a year earlier: train driving, flying vehicles, floating vehicles, running on walls, and vehicle tuning mechanics were not even started.

Now we know that all forces have been directed to fix the bugs by stopping work on two role-playing additions. It is possible that CDPR will add removed mechanics and feature content as free DLC. Most of these things are partially done and need only be fine-tuned. It would be a shame to throw away so much work, especially since releasing the deleted content would restore CDPR's reputation among players.

Small correction but I think the "ghost" on the chip was supposed to be based off the childhood hero question during the character creator shown off in the 2018 demo. The choices were Morgan Blackhand, Johnny Silverhand, and Saburo Arasaka. Honestly surprised they cut Blackhand cause that character is sort of Mike Pondsmith's self insert/favorite character. He tested the original pnp game with Blackhand.

We're suppose to be getting two big patches soon no? The dude from the leak made it seem police ai or ai in general is just a bug so shouldn't be hard to fix if it was working before being ship but someone fat fingered something. I hope they add the missing parts of the prologue/act 1. Go back to the heist trailer and T-Bug is alive and well in the motel and attacks V with Dex. People were like why would CDPR spoil this and their response was this is just one of the outcomes and jackie and co can die based of V's actions in the heist. Plus the life paths point to cut content and after them everyone gets what seems to be a montage of street kid stuff.

Now we know they cut romance options becuz muh diversity with Judy and Panam having full male and female V voice lines for those romances.

Though I don't see how they can add Morgan Blackhand and Saburo Arasaka's content back in. Might have to just give them content in expansions.

That was pretty clearly not true lol

Jakie was always going to die, it happens so early they don't mind spoilering it. No alternatives there.
AI being bad can't really be called a glitch, there isn't anything glitchy about it. It is just bad.

Apperntly, the DLCs are suppose to put back the cut content from the game.
Lets hope that they aren't stupid enough to charge for the dlc.
Interesting and promising if true. If CD Project Red wants to redeem Cyberpunk 2077, they must to do the three Fs: Fire the management, Fix the bugs and Finish the game.

While Judy and Panam being turned from bi to respectively lesbian and straight does indeed limit the romance options (getting friendzoned by Panam should have been an instant game over), it's in the end nothing to menstruate about. Especially in regards to all the other problems the game has in its current state.

That would actually be pretty dope and would drastically increase replay value, especially if the life path you chose actually meant something more substantial. And speaking of life paths, I'm disappointed you can't start as a Rockerboy and thus have unique dialogues with Johnny.

For now though, they should stick to the three Fs I mentioned above.

I don't know man the way some of the dialogue acts I think there was a lot more of act 1 such as decisions mattering in the heist cut.

Back in the early concept days the game was suppose to have classes such as Rockerboy, Solo, Nomad, Netrunner, and etc. Wish this was kept in. I love the cyberpunk tabletop's lore and etc but never got the chance to play cause no one I know plays tabletop rpgs. :(

edit: oh hey the judy romance video is back up. Also I just found out apparently Kerry and Johnny are in canon bisexual so since Kerry is the "Gay" romance in the game CDPR just straight up retconned that. Wtf CDPR? What's with the hate recently with the B in lgBt?

:edit2: apparently the "tweak" works for River too. So yeah all the romances were suppose to be bi. False pandering is the worst.

I'm seeing so many ridiculous videos claiming there is going to be a No Man's Sky-esque release 2.0 for this game in ~ June this year.
This needs to just stop.

1) When has this publisher ever completed anything close to a suspected or stated release date?
2) The same management structure will somehow shed their faggot cloaks and reveal the "true" game which was promised lo these many cycles?
3) There are so many dystopian NPC look alike faggots on the CDPR staff now that there's no way this thing will turn around. These people can never improve anything. They are a virus.
4) I don't have a 4th but Boogie is fat.

More about the leak:

The original source is from the Cyberpunk board on gamefaqs and was posted 2 weeks ago. Allegedly its from another thread but OP doesn't have a link. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/778998-cyberpunk-2077/79177975#7

Taken from a thread where supposed CDPR developer was speaking anonymously:

This is still very hush hush, but I'm fed up with this s*** so I'll disclose a few details.

CDPR hurt themselves to keep investors safe and sound. Now devs are hearing plans of a "No Man's Sky" style comeback due to late June. The first two patches should come out mid-March, despite what's been said by top execs. There will be major departures from the studio in the coming months. Dev morale is on an all time down and Sony is roasting our asses due to the gigantic volume of refund requests. There will be a meeting today with Sony execs to figure out a way to compensate players threatening with legal action. Sony Japan is specially furious.

More to come in the next couple weeks. Feels terrible, man.

There's no finger pointing as of now. Word on memos comes from the top. The directors and senior devs are taking the flak for the team in what I'd call "an honourable move". Just so you know, we still joke about a quest that got rewritten more than a dozen times, because a certain top dog wasn't "feeling it". It ended up being cut from the final product and should come on a later DLC next year.

There's people that get hired for whatever reason and stay in the company due to being "trusted by the top dogs". A good chunk of code is getting scrapped and rewritten from scratch. The intended game might be ready by June 2021.

That's already done and ready since February. It didn't get implemented because of a major UI bug that is still present in the retail copies. If you open your .dat files you'll find a lot of scrapped content still in there.
If you want a refund, please ask for it. It positively impacts us as devs, because we've warned the leads a MILLION times about that kind of s***. Most cosmetic overhauls should be ready by the 2nd big update, hopefully.

The update that is due to June will sort out all of the bugs. The code for the PS4/Xbox One is getting scrapped and done separately. PS5's code is an improvement on the PC due to the awesome dev kit Sony put together for this gen.

You'd be amazed by how much is already done. That "cut content so people finish the main quest" talk was all bulls***. Most apartments with "Closed (locked)" indications used to be lootable, we've scrapped 50,000+ lines of dialogue and I believe the June update will bring a whole lot of cut content back into the game.

Address the cut content as well. If they see that you guys are asking for s*** to be put back into the game, we might actually make the game we intended back in 2018. There used to be a huge underground part of the city that the public never got to see because it "looked ugly" to the execs. It was f***ing awesome and felt like the malkavian/nosferatu path on Vampire the Masquerade.

I don't want to hate on Keanu, but f***ing hell, our original Johnny was way cooler and sounded like a maniac. Think Foltest on crack. I don't appreciate his acting either, but he's a very nice man. Walked up to us personally to greet us on the first day and took time to personally thank us one by one when they wrapped up recording.

The word is his fee was actually manageable and the need for a Star Talent came from outside CDPR. The execs complied, because who the f*** knows? It sucks.

Our original Johnny was heavily inspired by David Hayter's Solid Snake from the first MGS and believe it or not, Cillian Murphy

There was a whole AI routine with minor gang violence in those areas. Stuff you could sit back and watch unfold or directly influence. There was also a lot of drug use with kids that eventually got cut due to inside censorship. There were priests and hare krishna side arcs that got cut due to censorship. Miles wrote a sidequest where a Max Tac officer offed himself and you could take its place but it created such a complex detour from everything tonally that it got cut as well. I hope it comes back, because it felt amazing to get into their headquarters and hack s***. You'd see the police trying to operate and breaking down mid-arrest due to your shenanigans.

Might sound weird, but the disaster launch was actually something beneficial, from our perspective. A cold shower sets priorities straight and so we're able to resume work on what was originally intended without having those f***ers breathing down our necks to publish.

I believe it was due to miscommunication and leads not setting goals like they should. The game was jumbled together for 2019's E3. The last dev comp before the scrap was 160Gb alone. There should be some whistleblowing in the coming weeks if the step downs

Series X was a mere rewrite of code and load orders. Next-gen's architecture is actually very good for ports. It's company policy to release when a game runs without debug hitches and the reason why it did baffles me and is the reason why I started this thread. It's a mix of hubris and deep incompetence from some big names around here. I'm going home for the holidays and really thinking about my friends who will be in the office for the next couple months redoing scrapped work without being able to say "I f***ING TOLD YOU!!! This is your fault, Boss". Next E3 will be bizarre for CDPR, I bet.

We've scrapped two whole arcs because the mission cleaned a save due to a bug with character placement. We've also scrapped a big portion of the underground and sewers because of bugs. Night City had three different types of cab besides Villefort and drivers would hold whole conversations and give quests. That also had to be scrapped.

Police pathfinding script worked wonderfully until somebody screwed the pooch. All I know it is already being fixed. It was a major oversight, of course.

Morgan Blackhand's backstory and a nod to the Coporate Wars. The DLC's will add a lot to the crazy and cool ideas Mike gave us when we began briefing the project. You guys should have the complete game by the end of next year, if everything goes well. I really gotta go now. Take care.

So yeah, the game was butchered
According to the dev there was tons of content that has either been censored or was cut from the game. Also some idiot destroyed the police pathfinding script.

Apparently Sony Japan is fucking furious and might turn CDPR into Nanking 2.0.

The original leak is from 4chan where everyone laughed at either the OP for larping, CDPR, at each other, or at Boogie. Because I'm a trusting dumbass I'm incline to believe this dude because this dropped right around the time refunds were issued on 4chan.CDPR in their emergency shareholder call also described the A.I. issues as bugs same as here.

speaking of this "leak" CDPR forum mods are trying to discredit this leak. Them commenting on this one and not the plethora of others kind of makes me go hmm. https://archive.is/hCS2f

Soy has a valid to be pissed. CDPR tried to pull a fast one with the refunds and make the publisher give up their share of the profits.

Hope we get the cut content such as story, metro, underground stuff.

CDPR reps already doing damage control regarding modders finding unused voice lines for the romances. Apparently it exists because CDPR are fucking cheap and wanted to squeeze out all the VO in one go only later to cut 50k lines. Would explain why people respond to you in the same tone regardless if you're male, female, romanced, or non-romanced. cheap slavs.

archive is being slower than boogie running to an all you can eat buffet. will update when the que stops being gay.

:edit went to bed but added the archive links for the forum mods denying the leaks and the eurogamer article doing damage control.

So basically what we all suspected. This thing was in concept/pre dev for five years and then hastily shit out in two years about 1/3 finished because CDPR wanted those sweet sweet Christmas shekels.

Even if these "Bro, trust me, I'm a developer" posts are actually true I just don't see it changing much. Fixing the police AI, adding in an underground part of the city and more apartments sound like putting band-aids on fatal wound. The amount of work and resources that they'd have to pour into this to make it anywhere near what they promised over the last 8 years would probably be equal to that of an entirely new game.

absolutely nobody leaks shit on gamefaqs. fake as fuck.

anyone else remember in the really early days when they still planned on classes being a thing, they said they wanted to include rockerboy, journo and even police also they werent sure how to do police?

they really did pull a fable on this game. theres a reason you shouldnt reveal a game until there is at the very least a basic framework done.
