Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Gog is a moneymaker. Not a money printer like Steam is, but it makes them money.
pretty sure GOG only breaks even at best. MS probably makes more money from a single office license...
it's also nothing MS has any use for, since they want to use their own store to tie people to windows, not offer them DRM free games. even if they'd buy it they would have to change in a way that would drive off all the people that use GOG for a reason.

As to the world of Cyberpunk, Night City is worse than Detroit or Chicago with the utter lawlessness, and has been ever since 2020. The NCPD is spread thin protecting just the nice parts of town, with anarchy and mob violence being the standard elsewhere. The corps tacitly encourage the violence as it keeps the cops off their backs and makes them money from drugs and weapons that fall off the back of trucks. Sometimes it backfires and they get hit... which is why one of the scanner missions in 2077 is where some loose ends who could have leaked to Militech that the NCPD told Maelstrom about the convoy carrying that expensive recon drone got finally tied up. You kinda forget too that the Tyger Claws and 6th Street are/were catspaws for Arasaka and Militech, although 6th Street has since gone rogue after Gunnar got out of prison, with a "Fuck EVERY corp" attitude instead of just "Fuck Arasaka".
the point is the average state goes up just as the player does. bring a gun to detroit and chicago and you'll be ventilated quite fast because everybody got one, meanwhile half the time it's depicted like europe where having a gun is the exception. any gadget or tech would either have a counter or equivalent, you wouldn't be anything special.

Finished this game recently (v1.52) and I want to give my opinion on it:
  • Bugs are still there (obviously), but encountered the most ridiculous ones at Act 1. After that, the immersion was less fucked with, but some visual bugs (on models) still occured.
  • Functional bugs were still there. I couldn't continue some side jobs ("Chippin' it" in particular), but the main questline worked without problems. It still pisses me off and after some time I just wanted to be done with this game.
  • Visuals were gorgeous. A shitton of assets did a lot to the atmosphere.
  • Really liked the soundtrack.
  • Keanu Reeves made bank by doing mostly nothing. The character of Johnny Silverhand was "eh" at best and a narcissistic cunt in general. Like the first John Wick, the less he talks and does cool shit, the better. He should definitely avoid VA work and stick to OG acting after this.
  • Gunplay was fine for the most part. I liked the first Borderlands, didn't like everything else from that series. But the hamfisted RPG-elements and lootwhoring for guns were misplaced.
  • Crafting is completely useless.
  • Stealth is fucking broken if you know what to do (If you played the first DEx and HR/MD, you'll know.)
  • Story was fine. Got "The Star" ending. Characters who weren't Silverhand were (in some instances very) likeable. I didn't know you can save Takemura. Your character fucking in a tank was much more hilarious than sexy. But it was fine by me.
I hope other bugfix patches come out. This game is serviceable, you can play it for the most part. It still is absolutely wasted potential and definitely NOT worth 60 bucks. I pirated it, and I feel no shame in doing so.

Good job Marcin, you fucking faggot. Treating your employees like shit, lying to everyone and getting those sweet bonuses for you and your slimy manager colleagues was sure worth it. This game will be always a testament of your incompetence and since you like to move resources on to your next Witcher game (which will probably bomb as well since you and the upper brass of your company drove the talent away), you deserve to be permanently unemployable. Or kicked in the nuts daily.
You learned nothing.

If you like a darker Cyberpunk vibe, play Ruiner. Ex-CDPR devs worked on it and did the "genre" more justice.

I ended up playing a second time and still had a lot of fun. Of course it wasn't hard because the type of shit you can do with skill trees makes you ridiculously overpowered even in comparison to the hardest mode. But the world is excellent, I'm hoping those leaks were true and they expand upon Pacifica, I'd like to finally be able to go to that abandoned city.

Few things just from my experience
- I didn't run into many functional bugs personally. On my first playthrough I got locked out of one irrelevant side quest and that's about it. I think quest bugs are the worst because a lot of them are great. You rolled really shit with your quest that didn't work - that quest is part of Johnny's storyline and you miss out on a lot by not getting through it.
- For Johnny's character, I liked him but I think he was used inconsistently and was also just overall underutilized. His personality towards V of being an asshole at the start and a friend at the end is good, my issue comes from that he sort of seems to fluctuate between the two states as the game goes on. Its weird doing all this stuff with johnny including bonding with him and then having him be a total ass the next mission. They should have done more variations for him of having various levels of affection for V for each voice line.
If you're familiar with the secret ending DFTR, it was probably my favorite mission in the game. That's where Johnny's character peaked. You and him, bonded and doing crazy shit together. And he's not just in your head, you see him walking around the mission a lot. This is the type of thing they should have done for EVERY mission. He's in your head for gods sake, one or two voice lines every few missions doesn't cut it.
He had a lot of squandered potential if you ask me.

Can you skip the longass unskippable scenes? No? Opinion invalidated, shit's longer than asscreed 1 and 2 scenes...
what is funny is that every new patch you have to play a new save, always. unless you feel like dealing with buggy shit.
fun fun fun going through all the whole questline again just to avoid quest bugs and such...

Jesus Christ. I guess you did another playthrough. Thanks for the info.

Know about it, maybe I'll do another playthrough with more playtime on it. But there is still a lot that needs fixing. But it probably won't, due to the new Witcher.

The entire game was, sadly.

Have they sold this game for cheaper than 40 dollars since it's come out? Completely insane they haven't had a decent sale especially when it was at the height of it's controversy, it would have done something to get a little good will.

You're right, but this is the current price:

According to this price tracker the lowest it has sold for is $29.99. This is only tracks digital prices for the PC version, so it might have gone for a cheaper price on console or if physical copies sold in stores went on clearance.

So patch 1.6 has dropped now with modding tools and a bunch of crossover content for the anime that's coming out:
And there's a preview of the new expansion and correct me if I'm wrong but either they brought Keanu back or their gonna just use some previous used voice lines if silvehand does come back

Keanu actually liked working on Cyberpunk. Only one expansion is big gay, we won't be going into space, which was where the second expansion was rumored to be.

Modding tools is cool, still need WolvenKit to work on assets and scripts, so no REDKit from Witcher 2.

cdpr has memory-holed Vincent. The game's new icon is valerie, the promo materials + expansion stuff push valerie. RiP Vincent, u were a certified badass and mofo.

Did Keanu Reeves really?

funny thing is that the modding legal documents are just like skyrim/blizzard, anything you do can be reused and reselled by them in any way.
meanwhile stalker still doesn't give a legal shit about modding, maybe CPDR wants to avoid modding drama and pateronshit?

Have you seen E3 version of Valerie?
She's way waaayyy better than the current Valerie
RIP Vincent and E3 Valerie
because many players play as fem V for some fucking reason...
