The world really doesn't feel that alien to our own now at least to me. Get away from Night City's center towards the edges and you can easily mistake it for any other game if you don't have your weapon out. Even where I live I see ad screens and I'm not in some grand city center.
The writers fucked up by moving the clock that much and things changing little. Pond Smith noticed cuz he's writing CP RED, set in the 2050s. I liked how the game devs accidentally commented aloud that the city wasn't that bad compared to say SF, as there aren't hordes of homeless people around.

The flag makes no sense as anything but an out of universe pandering opportunity considering all of the surgeries, body mods, and literal cyberdick adverts in elevators. Going from dick to vagina would likely be milquetoast in Night City but it gives social media brownie points!
It makes zero sense, like the obvious guy pretending to be a woman, despite not being so, seen in that Liz bar.

The Voodoo Boyz being portrayed as super hacking gay niggas from outer space was hilarious. Haitians of all groups being advanced is unintentional comedy
Weren't those originally white? I found the Maelstrom way too evil to be plausible, no one likes them and they're hostile to EVERYONE, and yet they have infinite members.

Whichever dev that said that must not have been a map designer because NC has plenty of homeless, they’ve just been driven to the backend and maintenance areas instead of the open streets leaving behind massive amounts of unbagged trash near the bag piles.

The original voodoo boyz were white dudes who took on hollywood aesthetics of voodoo, yeah. It's outright written into the original that they were just drug pushers with a goofy aesthetic but a shocking amount of cash due to their narcotics. The Haitians arrived and killed them (how very accurate to Haitians) then people eventually started referring to the Haitians as Voodoo Boyz instead.

Maelstrom are just a pack of psychopaths with drugs and a fetish for chrome. They shouldn't be able to recruit for shit given the level of mutilation required to be a member. They also don't seem to be a natural extension of a particular ethnic group. VDB are all Haitian refugees, Valentinos are inner city latins, Tyger Claws are East Asians. They aren't tied to a particular movement like the Barghest or 6th Street who were attempted militias turned to crime. They also don't seem to have a particular crime niche like Scavs.

Really they should go under like the Tyger Claws are said to be due to their constant back-stabbing and lack of alliances.

Maelstrom dates back to 2020. Unfortunately Night City is the sort of uber-violent shithole that spawns a bunch of people who'd rather burn out on chrome and drugs than fade away as a result of getting nailed by a stray round, accidentally run over, suffering organ failure as a result of pollution, or get torn apart in a workplace accident. Its basically modern Chicago, but taken up to 11 and made cyberpunk.

Don't forget that during the Happy Together quest V says they should build a monument to Andrew for dying of old age in Night City from how rare that sort of thing is.

I always finish the last race. And insult the abomination afterwards.
With the haitian niggers, always letting them die because i hate them irl. Monkeys without fur deserved better representation in GTA Vice City and that's something about killing them.

haitians do try to fuck you over anyway.
but you get kind of warned that they only care for eachother.

Random but Aurore deserved better.
I admit that V's reaction was a bit out of character, you've murdered so much people already at that point of the game. But eh, she was pretty. Hell, she was prettier than most character in the game. What a waste of good pussy.

Got the mission to go talk to the bartender to check out the races, got to "her" garage and saw the truck with a tranny flag. My interest in the activity largely vanished- might eventually buy my own combat car because I am not going to drive a troon flag truck.

Poland can contain two politico-ideological extremes and somehow not implode over that: one is "Poland is for Poles", the other one is "heil Progressivismus", and CD Projekt Red seems to have firmly planted themselves into the latter during the development of Childporn 2077.

The troon flag doesn't make sense, not because autogynephilia will go extinct by 2077, but because there's such severe backlash against the faggot cult (and the corpos that keep nurturing them) happening now in 2020-5, it's unlikely the pastel CGA flag will even be relevant in the nearest future. At least, that's what I would predict.

What makes even less sense is Claire being a troon. Not a realistic troon, not a cybernetic one, but rather a fantasy troon - a fictional character designated as a biological male, yet looking, sounding and behaving absolutely nothing like one. Try explaining Erica from Catherine. Try explaining Poison from Final Fight. Try explaining Claire from CP2077. Try expla--okay, at least Cagliostro from Granblue has appropriate lore to justify the genderbender, so they get a pass.

You didn't miss anything by not doing Claire's storyline, by the way: not only it's the most poorly written one in the whole game IMO, it's also tied to arguably the most uncomfortable activity in CP2077: driving. I've blazed through the whole thing by DDoSing every single one of my opponents, - except for the one victim of troon rage that is story-relevant, - let Claire kill the guy, and your reward is...

...the troon jeep.

Yep.

P.S. Worth noting that the KF Guide to Woke Games also calls Claire the only 100% organic character in CP2077 - which is cap, there's also Robert Rainwater, a very early game ripperdoc who, despite being the go-to guy for installing implants, refuses to have them on himself. He's prepping for a potential EMP blast, basically.

you can't give V a character to fucking begin with, also them getting the pretty character killed is par for the course all things considered, it's a woman thing and i won't pretend to get it since i am a man, therefore i will never be a woman.

Phantom Liberty basically being Cyberpunk James Bond but not letting you bang Aurore is fucking absurd. I don't mind the negative reaction from V so much because I, too, would be upset that I was cockblocked by the glowniggers.

I was saying that exact same thing to a mate.

Claire: “it’s soooo hard to be a troon.”
Me: “I’m off to get a big penis installed and larger tits by a ripperdoc, then I’m going to beat some Haitians to death with this weapons grade dildo I was given after scissoring some corrupt chick from a private military company as the city is completely amoral and doesn’t care if any individual lives or dies.”

I've never had an issue with people trooning out with sufficient technology/magic to actually pull it off. Rewrite your DNA, put your brain into a robot body with a vajayjay, sure whatever, you're a woman now, good for you. My issue has always been with the demand that I pretend a surgically mutilated man is now a fugly woman when he does not remotely look or act like one. And that specifically seems to be the fetish fueling characters like Claire. In a real world someone with the technology to just swap their body would not be a "transwoman", they'd just be a woman. Calling attention to that transitional uncanny valley state isn't what most sane people would do. But in service of "inclusivity" you see shitty trannies like this being ham fistedly shoved into games, because if Claire here had just gotten a cyberpussy and some bolt-ons and was not actively calling attention to how trans he was, how could anyone give CDPR good boy points for it?

Vis is ganic too, iirc. At least he doesn't have any implants. I know he's got that little exoskeleton thingy on his hand though.

I fuckin love that quest. Wish there were more like it. Feels real.

Whatever dev said that was looking for a cheap pop on the level of "LOCAL SPORTS TEAM ROCKS!".

Let me guess: your favorite character is Dragon Age is Leliana.

Having gone through the game I gotta say I actually really liked it. The gameplay itself wasn't anything crazy or revolutionary but it worked well enough. What I really liked was the sound design and the OST. It does irk me that some of my more favored stuff wasn't even in the official OST like "Johnny's Grave" that guitar riff is really nice, they do use it in other stuff though like in the Temperance ending track somewhat. I liked the story a fair bit too, though that's more due to Pondsmith than CDPR, the cyberpunk world itself is really interesting imo. Some of the stuff that wasn't in your face was particularly eye catching to me. The black wall, AI possessions, etc. It would be cool to have gone more into detail about Yorinobu and his attempts at breaking Arasaka from the inside out as well but you can't have everything I suppose.

That said I entirely expect the next game, whatever that might be to be worse in any given aspect due to that generally being the current trend in media with the "enshitification" of everything. What their people post reinforces that perspective to me.
