Do we think that cyberpunk 2 is going to give us new backgrounds or just repeat the ones from the first game. Also maybe they can actually make the dialogue matter this time?
lmao, no to both

CDPR has bled away all the talent that made them famous, and replaced them with Western dangerhair expats.

Just go look up all the people credited for the success of Witcher 2 and 3 and see how many of them are left at the company.

They'll give you backgrounds, and they'll give you dialogue choices, and both will be utterly meaningless window dressing there so they can put these "features" on the back of the proverbial box and pretend the game is a cRPG.

Also, I fully expect them to feature the same godawful itemization system, because if there's only thing CDPR is consistent about, it's repeating their mistakes. And the game will be more woke than the first - one of the earliest bits of news we got about the narrative was that it would put a focus on homelessness and other social issues, which will be handled with all the grace and subtlety as the tranny flag in Cyberpunk 1.

I can't wait for the post-mortem for Cyberpunk 2 to reveal the switch to Unreal 5 didn't improve things in any shape or form, and that they had the same chaotic, unfocused dev cycle as with the first game, only now they can blame the dogshit performance on the engine.

They're well on their way to speedrun any% BioWare, like good tranny lovers tend to do.

I already know the big bad guy is going to be a elon musk and orange man allegory lol.

I hope this doesn't happen. You might be right though. On an unrelated note Blood of the Dawnwalker looks great and has a lot of old devs from TW3.

I remember the MOMENT I stopped taking cyberpunk seriously,
when you first meet panam, she says something along the lines: "It helps to have a reputation with people"

At that moment I've done all the gigs, spent time to avoid killing gang members thinking that would open up opportunities
later in the game, and slowly I start to realize nothing I did mattered, I could just do a mass shooting, kill every gang member I see for the XP, and
the world doesn't punish you in any way. hearing the game tell me that shit above just broke something in me to just accept I'm playing a gayer version of
Farcry Blood dragon.

In a span of like 5 hours I had my entire experience morph from "I better think before I do anything" to me dash canceling from a mass shooting, to another mass shooting for the entire game. when I found out they PATCHED OUT consequences (punching the tranny doc preventing you from getting the best max payne bullet time)
I fucking made it my personal mission to do a random mass shooting after each mission to remind myself this isn't an RPG.

I had it in my head that anytime before you get the Silverhand tulpa you have all the time in the world to fuck around, and once you get to act 2,
you had to actually focus on getting cured, even when they gave me the pills, I immediately thought they were going to do something similar to the malaria mechanic in Farcry 2 where your illness would fuck up your missions if you're not paying attention. Boy am I retarded for thinking they would do anything interesting mechanically
that ties gameplay, story and roleplaying in a neat bow.
Sort of funny you mention this. As much as I love roaming Night City (one of gaming’s most aesthetic sandboxes of all time), I can’t help but think of its limitations and shortcomings. There are more roleplaying elements in GTA 4 than 2077, and 4 came out in 2008. Almost 20 years ago.

The funnier thing is that the original cyberpunk “prophet” William Gibson wrote back in 2018 that 2077 looks like “a generic 80s-retro future” with GTA-like mechanics. Too optimistic on that, because GTA has more roleplaying elements (despite of it not being of that genre) than cyberpunk.

The fact that the game is going to be made in Boston (with some support coming from Vancouver), both havens of troons is sort of blackpilling. But some of the original polish staff are leading the project still.

Idk about that, unless we're being extremely generous with what we call "roleplay elements". You have the side gigs you can do like taxi or ambulance missions, and I guess you have the stuff you can do with Roman and your girlfriend but that's it. And I don't personally think any of those things are particularly great roleplay elements. If Cyberpunk let you go bowling with whoever you're fucking, it'd have about the same amount of roleplay elements as GTA4.

I picked up the PS5 version of this used at a pawn shop for like $5 a year or two ago. It's been in my stack mostly forgotten about but randomly decided to try it out a week ago. I have about 15 hours in now.

My take is that it's a good game, but not a masterpiece.

It's fun for sure, but the criticisms I see people making in this thread are definitely valid. Number one being that the open world really does feel lifeless. Don't get me wrong, it's very pretty and well designed, but I feel like it's just a great stage set for a play I'm starring in.

The combat is fairly fun, especially with the tech add ons and such. I'm going for a really agile kind of ninja flow state build in the long run, but haven't leveled up enough to get all the way there, so still doing a lot of duck and cover back and forth shootouts.

I know it fits with the setting of everyone having augmented bodies but I generally hate bullet sponge combat in games, where it's like no, 313 rounds is not enough to kill this enemy, but 314 was just the right amount of bullet holes to take them down. This is game has that but it's not quite as bad as something like Borderlands.

The story is interesting, if a bit generic, but then again the cyberpunk genre has been around for almost 50 years now, with it's roots going back even farther, basically everything has been done before. I like the other characters so far but who knows if they'll get on my nerves. The dialogue is sometimes really great but also sometimes genuinely cringe.

Like I said it's a good game, if I had paid full price for this I wouldn't think it's worth it and I would be disappointed, and if I'd preordered this one with all the problems it had I would have lost my damn mind. But this is why I never buy games day one.

For $5 bucks price of entry I've already gotten my money's worth and it's still enough fun I'm probably going to finish it.

Edit:

PSA: pawn shops are the best place to get used games. Junkies and people on hard times will sell their shit out of desperation so they can get another bag or pay make rent for one more month. Most pawn shops don't turn around and resell used for nearly as much as GameStop does. They just want the shit sold ASAP for more anything more than they bought it for to free up wall/shelf space.

If you feel like you give it some more time after you finish, Phantom Liberty addressed a lot of the issues I think you have. It takes place mostly in a playspace about as big as a single district, so it's a lot tighter with little empty space that's just there to give a sense of scale, and the story doesn't meander like in the base game.

man don't go bowling with his boy badman.
this some bomboclaat.

however when you stop for a minute to compare it's pretty much first person GTA4 with all the interactives around and some number-rpg damage thingy that CDPR can nerf every now and then because they hate their players o'someting.
although i can't really draw a direct comparison to RDR2 like CDPR did, RDO and GTAO technically has more interactive spots but then again they are online games and RDR2 has plenty of world interactivity around the player rather than the player himself being able to get arthur to interact a certain way with the world that the devs boiled down to the honor system, it's more than GTA4 and GTA5 that's for certain but... it loses to GTAO because, again... MMO...

I just found out about the Kickstarter for the TCG, and holy fuck people are paying those prices? It's just pieces of paper.

I have little faith that Cyberpunk 2 is going to be any good given Witcher 4's bullshit, and they're already damage controlling Ciri being the lead. I hope to GOD Mike isn't compromised, but I think he's going to be.

To kill what little hope you have, it's also being developed by that Boston studio that's also working on the long in pre-production hell Witcher game that's not 4 or the demake of 1. The fuckers obviously can't even get a decent idea for a game even when given a universe and general game mechanics on a platter.

Then Jack Esplanado dies horribly after 2 hours of tutorial gameplay and somehow we end up with Debra Wilson on our heads, trying to take control and turn us into the CyberQueer that ever lived.
