Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Remember, they are still working on it. There will be a day one patch.

The Series X won't have a full next gen upgrade patch until next year. So it doesn't surprise me it only looked and ran a bit better on Series X.

I'm glad the footage had some issues. It shows the reason for the delays and what they have to work on.

Yep, this ones going in my COPE compilation.

One should always reserve final judgement until the final game actually releases.

I am getting a little worried though and I keep flashing back to Bioshock Infinite, I hope history isn't repeating itself and what may have gone wrong with Cyberpunk isn't what went wrong with Bioshock Infinite and that's a game being released late in a gen that's holding it back when it really should have targeted early next gen.

Bioshock Infinite very obviously should have been a 2014 PS4/Xbox One game, not a 2013 PS3/Xbox 360 game, let's hope Cyberpunk 2077 should have not have just a PS5/Xbox Series X game.

if the jason scherier expose is right they fucked around in pre production like 4 years and what we are seeing now was cobbled together in the last 3 years, not a good look

Did CDPR hire all the ex management from Bioware/EA ?

Are.... are video games dying, bros?

Between the prospect of Cyberpunk 2077 being a disappointment and Capcom potentially going woke, which is a worrying sign for the direction of Japanese games in general, it really does seem this whole medium is simply running out of gas, even though a new console generation just started, I'm not real optimistic.

I've been thinking a lot about retiring from this hobby in recent times, or at least retiring from modern games, I came close to calling it quits after Bioshock Infinite disappointed me but I don't think my interest in this hobby could survive another disappointment on that level, if modern devs can't even not fuck up what should have been a sure thing like this that says really bad things about the state of modern video games.

Really struggling to see a positive with this game. It reminds me of some generic ubisoft game with a more original setting. Hell, it falls short of those in some respects.

except you can say what you want about ubisoft gameplay, technically and visually they deliver AAA quality - bugs notwithstanding. I mean...

and that was six years ago (I know it's a bit disingenuous considering what a shitshow it was at launch, but still, that's on a "last gen" console).

infinite was mismanaged to hell and back, there's a reason levine was canned right after release and the studio shuttered (to the point he literally grabbed the ball and went home so no one else could have his daughterfu). I just doubt CDPR made 2 and a half games in like 5 years and had to scramble to release something in the last 6 months.

CP2077 always sounded way too ambitious for them, and they were probably a bit high on their own farts considering how everyone was jerking themselves off over witcher 3 and their studio. which then made it attractive to a lot of shitters to drag development down even further, leading to the mediocre (but funny to watch) mess we gonna get.

Well, it's a bad sign but I think in context it's not as bad as it seems. Capcom has been seeming like a sinking ship for a long time now, and it seems like them getting into woke shit is just an attempt to get shilled by kiked media to their western audience. Basically, them just grabbing anything that looks like it might float. I feel like CD Projekt is going downhill because they've taken the controls out of Polish hands, but since the biggest shareholders in the company are all Polish, you're going to see a massive tard wrangling if Cyberpunk 2077 flops.

During that first combat segment with the katana you can see the enemy character glitch out against the wall before getting their head sliced off, lol.

There was another from the episode where they show you saving a Buddhist from Maelstrom gangers. A female maelstrom does a glitchy jump and gets her head chopped off. It was so fucking funny.

Oh man, getting my 🍿 ready for Decemberrrrrr!

I know they hired some of their CMs and moderators even way back, and think some writers to (since none of the shitters usually have the technical chops, and of those most are smart enough to not go into vidya development).

crapcom was always retarded, that moniker exists for a reason. as @mr.moon1488 said it probably only to sell more stuff, same reason they did their "we need western studios to make western games for us", you might remember a certain "donte" debacle...

as for the rest it's the metastasized "go woke go broke" cancer finally getting too big to ignore, which has been happening for a while now across most of western media. that's why I don't know why you're still optimistic in [current year] + 5, heck infinite and crap like mass effect 3 predate even that by a few years.

there's still good shit out there, but AAA is pretty much a lost cause and only worth if you need something to crylaugh about like zorg at the end of fifth element. and fwiw it's not gonna stay this way, at some point companies have to come up with good games again or they go under, there will be a new CDPR in some form. everything's just gonna a suck quite a bit more till then.

This is it? The big saviour? The one every Gamer™ has staked their hopes (and pre-orders) on? A GTA neon mod with a minimap quest HUD slapping you in the face and uber generic cod gunplay? I found Witcher 3 pretty meh so didn't have high hopes but damn, there's just something so 2013 about it all. Not that I expect CDPR to reinvent the wheel, but I at least assumed you'd be fighting with cypernetic tech and conversing around faction alignment or something... anything. It barely looks RPG lite even.

Woke angle doesn't look too bad from this gameplay, considering it has the player telling a Person of Shade to fuck off, before calling him dumb and attacking. I imagine that might be enough to close a few gaping soy maws on its own.

Most likely it will just be aggressively mediocre. However the lack of polish in an edited gameplay trailer, combined with the weird generation straddling they're attempting, does hint at potential trash fire.

I tend to approach most game releases blind because I don’t believe in getting excited for tech demos and heavily edited footage that is unlikely to represent the final product. That being said, reading the doomposting here about CP2077 has been quite sobering and a refreshing change from the baseless social media hype. I’m starting to view fanboys the same way as Star Citizen supporters, with the difference being that Cyberpunk will actually be released this decade.

There are altogether too few games set in a proper cyberpunk world so I’ll still play it, but my expectations have been adequately tempered. I foresee a lot of disappointment and even more angry social media posts in the wake of its release however.

Video games are kind of a waste of time, so it's okay to drop them as a hobby. There's nothing intristically wrong with playing them, but it should be a last resort assuming you've got no other means or desires to better yourself in other facets of life (and not a virtual one). I may sound like a cunt, but I just don't like seeing people's potential shot down because they put too much stock into electronic media.

If you've already gone to work, finished your studying (New skill, language, instrument, etc.), spent time with family/friends/community, etc, and ifs raining outside, then there's nothing wrong with cracking open a beer and CASUALLY playing a video game. Trust me man, getting disappointed over the complete state of affair that are modern video games is waste of time.

Tldr- video games are dead
