Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

To everyone that never played ME3 Multiplayer: It was a 4 person multi-wave horde mode (with about 3 to 4 different "races" of horde enemies) that had different random objectives every 3 rounds with a final stand for for the escape shuttle at the end. What made it great is that there was a TON of thought and care put into, the classes were extremely varied, weapon and mode choice actually mattered, and towards the end the developers just got weird with everything. It was amazing Bioware got lucky on something so good and then completely fucked it up in ME:A.

Like if Bioware wasn't full of fart smelling idiots the ME3 Multiplayer could have been farmed out and expanded to be something like a ME Warframe-type game.

fun fact: same team that did me3 multiplayer, DLCs and later did andromeda (dammit @XenomorphThot beat me to posting fun facts)

I was never the biggest fan of MP (for various reason), but it was still the best part of a shit game and on it's own could be quite enjoyable for a while. that bioware never build on that was one of my issues with it, because you can only do the same horde mode for so long.

because bioware is part of EA, and is EA is retarded. just think about it for a minute:

- no mass effect dlc for battlefield 3 or even spin off for proper multiplayer
- no other spin-off game to exploit the hype (even a fucking VN would've made the tumblr biodrones wet and kept the shitty writing out of the main games)

imagine you have one of the biggest gaming IPs on your hands and do absolutely fucking nothing with it (besides shitting out crappy books). they wanted a destiny clone, and what did they do? make a whole new IP instead of piggybacking of ME set as a prequel or whatever.

it's a pretty common MO with EA
- all of battlefront (and nothing else)
- not going full war of the world in battlefield 1
- not going full dieselpunk alternate reality with battlefield V (imagine a paolo parente's dust as AAA shooter, would also allow to shit out any progressive story instead of literally rewriting history, which is probably be dumbest thing you can do if you want to highlight "untold stories" that never fucking existed)
- planning retarded projects and completely fuck the execution, if not fumble beforehand (c&c game by bioware of all people)
- WoW clone by one of the worst devs out there (who else but bioware)
- not taking dice sweden behind their swecuck shed and shoot it after the mess they shat out constantly and took the crown with bf5 while shutting down one of their best studios (RIP visceral).

They saw how much money GTA online made and still makes today. The more they talk about it the more it seems like it will be a GTA online knockoff. GTA online is "separate" from GTA5 sp but reuses the map and many of the story characters; I expect something similar from this.
I won't be buying the game but I expect the multiplayer will be a trashfire. Even rockstar couldn't pull it off without the 9 minute loading screens and I doubt CDPR could do any better considering they've never made an online game especially on the scale of millions of players.

SuckerPunch never did multiplayer either, before Ghost of Tsushima Legends, and that mode is loads of fun and while it's not bug-free, the bugs did not kill the game. (Sad news is that there won't be new content for it.)

Has there been any break down on what the multiplayer is actually going to be? Take the ME3 example of good RPG based multiplayer: Maybe the multiplayer is you and up to 3 other people running random mission through different set pieces that have various random configurations built into them.

there's no official word or any real information to make tangents about, but i wouldn't be surprised if they did go towards a PvP route judging by the people they hired/are collaborating with.

Gabe Amatangelo, the creative direction for multiplayer project is an ex-Tortanic dude who was the "Lead Principal PvP Designer" for SWTOR, Digital Scapes (who joined up with CDPR for the long term and specialize in AAA Multiplayer and cloud computing) are mostly ex-Techland/Dying Light devs, which also had invasion PvP in it like Dark Souls/Watch Dogs, but there's also ex-Warhammer, Company of Heroes and Prototype devs in there as well, so who knows.

Current concern- it sort of feels like the city is quite underpopulated in many of the videos. This is one of the things that killed Watchdogs 2's setting for me, which was that the city felt quite lifeless despite the detail.

I know CDPR said it was all tied to the time of day/peds 'disappear' when you get into a car, but I can't but think that it's an excuse for a downgrade.

Honestly sounds like cope- why don't they show the city at any other time of day? Or any of the busier places?

At the same time, driving still feels like it lacks momentum and weight for some reason- not sure why, but maybe it's a camera/fov thing?

Also the soundtrack previews seem decent enough, but I think that there could have been some opportunity for a Fifth Element-type cultural influences, considering the diversity in Night City- at the moment it does seem Blade Runner-esque electronic/ambient-heavy. I wonder what the radio will be like?
To be fair, all the ye olde medieval towns/cities in Witcher 3 did in fact get very empty at night. If there is a downgrade, I expect it to be in the visual effects department.

I suspect the whole "NPCs not there when in aerial camera" is probably true. If you open up Nvidia Ansel in W3 you can zoom out indefinitely and if you zoom into areas away from where Geralt is, no NPCs are drawn. I suspect this may be the same - the game only bothers drawing NPCs when they could reasonably be expected to be near the player. Otherwise it probably just keeps track of their current location.

About 12 days away. What are chances of another delay? I doubt it because people have posted copies in warehouses.

You'd think it'd be on track to finally releasing but considering they managed to delay it after it had gone gold, I'm not going to be convinced it's being released on time until it's actually in my hands.

We are at what, T-10 days before this drops? The closer it gets to release, the higher the chance that it is delayed. Assuming it is drops on the 10th, I'm gonna wait a few days before seeing if I can get it. Make sure it's not a complete Fallout 76 mess.

It seems like they're culling pedestrians when driving and if so it makes me wonder how they are handling something that jarring. A third person animation of opening the car door and a little cutscene when exiting the car is not enough to hide something as significant as that.

I was thinking a delay on T-4 Why? Because it would have a certain mathematical elegance to it.

Delay 1 was at T-91, so 3 months plus a day.

Delay 2 was at T-91, so 3 months plus a day.

Delay 3 was at T-22, so 3 weeks plus a day.

T-4 would be 3 days plus a day.

reddit will burn to the ground if it gets delayed with <10 days until release.

Don't tease me.

I really don't think they can actually delay it again though. Hard copies are in warehouses. They'll probably be sending out copies to reviewers now if they haven't already - indeed some googling indicates that this is the case. They aren't going to send it to reviewers in a state that they wouldn't want to unleash it on the public in, and rumours are that the review embargo lifts this Thursday, a week in advance.

Hmmm. Once again, it seems that there are fewer ambient NPCs on the Xbone / PS4 than on the XSX / PS5 / PC. If you go back to the Xbox footage this is clearly visible where it switches from Xbone to XSX in the middle of a bar an when it's on XSX there's significantly more randos standing about. That implies there's an ambient NPC or crowd density slider in there somewhere.

So, what do we think the review scores will be from various GARME JURNALIZTS? My predictions:

- 10/10 IGN - because they never fucking play anything and go entirely on marketing payola
- 6/10 Polygon, RPS, Kotaku - because they have to be contrarian and also CDPR won't bend the knee to Woko Haram and also the Chromanticore ad.
- 90% PC Gamer because Bathtub Geralt and because it won't be as good as W3, we know that for a fact
- Jim Sterling will refuse to acknowledge it exists or use it as a springboard to bloviate about MUH CRUNCH.

Metacritic score in the 80s.
