Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Being very uninterested in the game from what I've seen of it pre-release, I'm rather judgmental for a reason that has nothing to do with bugs or consoles.
My big bother is the actual core gameplay of shooting things looks like it has the feel of the endlessly copypasted since 2007 generic "Call of Duty" style of gunplay, that's gotten so tired and overdone that the actual CoD games have been moving away from it. Sure there's the futuristic totally not Deus Ex augments that might give you some abilities or powers to use in potentially interesting ways, but I don't think that's capable of being the saving grace of the gameplay, since the core gameplay being uninteresting can't really be fixed by whatever flame stripes you try to paint on the side, seeing from how uninteresting games like Wolfenstein 2009, Haze, and Timeshift were despite their attempts at gimmicks.

How would you suggest they fix "COD-like" gunplay exactly?

I too judge games based on a 300p video of pre-release last-gen console ports.

It has been clear for a while that the console versions are a mess and that the machines are just straight up not capable of running the game, I mean it fucking failed certification for christs sake and that usually means either the game does not run or is bricking consoles.

And just to point out that there is no new-gen version yet, footage from PS5 is just the PS4 game hastily thrown together to get it running on the new hardware.

As for the PC version, which is the actual game as intended, the console versions literally existing just to trick Sony and Microsoft into paying for their advertising, It a fucking AAA game of course its going to be a bug ridden mess, what idiot thinks otherwise.

Everyone knows not to buy AAA at launch and anyone that does gets everything they deserve, add on the fact that this is an open-world rpg with branching story paths, its going to be basically unplayable for 3 months.

None of this is to defend CDPR, or suggest any of this is right or fair, or to say that charging however much new games cost nowadays for something that barely works is anything but bullshit, but to say that writing the game off as shit because of this is hopelessly premature.

If in june/july of next year you show me high-end pc footage of a fully patched game still being a glitched mess, then I will write it off, but more likley I will be able to pick this up + dlc for about £20 in 18 months and have a good time.

This crap, coupled with the fact that they released the damn thing for preorder a fucking YEAR AND A HALF AGO after parading Keanu out at E3, are why I'll never be a CDPR fan boy no matter how much I like their most recent games. 3 delays added on top of that with endless fucking merch-peddling and really douchey "ARG" schticks to reveal fucking controllers and gamer chairs really put a sour taste in my mouth with the entire company.

The game could be solid fucking gold day one and it wouldn't change the fact that the pre-launch and marketing have been a complete and utter shit show. Im still not sure if it's just incompetence due to their inexperience with handling all the facets of a game of this scope and all the marketing bullshit that comes with it or just outright maliciousness and greed, but its been a sight to see these past couple years.

Remember when they sent jackets that said "I got to play Cyberpunk early" to people that previewed 4 hours of gameplay? That kind of sat weirdly with me, especially since they delayed the game again.

Though it's gonna be really funny when this turns out to be a massive let down. Not something to brag about now, is it?

Marketing did a bunch of research and it turned out less people bought games after trying out a demo. Shame too, shareware was a great concept right before the internet really kicked off.
Yeah people see how terrible the game actually is and doesn't have any kind of sunk cost to "encourage" them to play the entire thing.

I think I posted this before but the marketing for Cyberpunk has been very snotty, aggressive, and condescending towards fans in a way that I don't ever remember happening with Witcher 3.

I still plan on buying it but I'm with you in that I don't like the marketing at all.
The Witcher 3 marketing was as adversarial but they didn't lean to hard into it because they didn't have cult surrounding them like they do now. They where just more stable and took snide jabs at the competition.

They do have one if the worst marketing teams in the industry. They tend to get people excited for the most pitiful reveals. I think last year there where a lot of specail sales that where insanely disappointing because they conveyed everything so poorly.

That last video hurts me. "the crafting menu, we haven't seen any of that yet", how much reddit video game opinions can take over your brain that you think there's going to be anything significant in a crafting menu of all things or that it'll be anything other than the copy paste games put in as a base line for the past 5+ years and that you want to see this over any actual gameplay or any more of the world or whatever?

Is there any footage of this game at 60 fps?

I find it strange that in an industry that hides the consoles' shittiness as hard as they can that this game is the one that practically advertises it.

Like others have said this take on a cyberpunk world is sure overly flamboyant, does anyone look normal in this game? Is it a crime to have natural hair colors in the year 2077? It looks a lot like 2020, and I mean the real world 2020, if CHAZ had access to cyberware then the game could of billed itself as being based on a true story. I much rather the look and style of Bladerunner, Snatcher, Johnny Mnemonic, Akira, Cyberpunk 1st edition and Cyberpunk 2020 for example.

Also remind me again why the new pen and paper version is set in 2040 but the game is set in 2077, wouldn't it have been better to be able to play the game in the same world you can play in if you are a neckbeard? Did they really need that much creative license, what the hell happened in 37 years because it is a little odd that a lot of uniforms and technology are exactly the same.

I'm expecting an entertaining story like The Witcher 3 but also like The Witcher 3 I can see the gameplay being very paint by numbers and MMO inspired.

You know SJWs will be upset at there being 2 penis options and only 1 vagina type.

I wonder if you can be like Chandler on Friends and have a third nipple.

What really pissed me off was CDPR putting their e-celeb streamers in the game.
