Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

I wonder which game will become the next big gaming disaster, at the rate these studios are pumping out stinkers I predict in 4 months we'll have another dumpster fire.
not on the scale of cp2077, remember that game had an (actively fostered) buildup of 8 years.
from the top of my head couldn't even guess what else could bomb as much that isn't a laughing stock already - battlefield 6 would probably be the closest that comes to mind, tlou3 is still years out.

I can't wait for the next big gaming disaster from overconfidence. You're right, its probably Bethesda, although ZeniMax getting bought by MS might actually result in that GaaS bullshit getting dropped. Turns out GaaS only works if you offer a whole library for your money, not just one game and its "updates".

I'd say Biomutant but there wasn't nearly as much hype, plus it's from a small studio and it apparently just suffers from a dull main story.

I think starfield definitely has the potential to be the next big failure. Bethesda games are always buggy, and there seems to be nebulous hype around starfield that people are filling with their hopes and dreams (Skyrim in space!).

I could see them adding in lots of games as a service crap in a la fallout 76
skyrim (whatever people might think of it) still sold loads, especially on consoles where you can't even mod it.
after FO4 no on really gave a fuck about FO76 (or fallout in general), it was merely fun to watch that trainwreck. still sold good enough apparently.
even normies know about the todd meme these days which would keep any hype and expectations grounded.

that's why even if there is hype I don't think starfield will bomb that hard unless bethesda really doubles down, and casuals will eat it up anyway.

if you count balan wonderworld it technically already happened. But the only people who cared about that were old sega fans, and the pair of them are mostly done now.

kinda unrelated, but that one made me chuckle:

it's fake, the original is here, but the color scheme says it all.

The only way we are getting a fixed Cyberpunk game is through a fan project. Where someone just makes their own version of Cyberpunk 2077, and it may not have the same production value but there is something to be said about doing more with less and being forced to keep your focus.
That or some very very impressive collection of mods make the game actually what it was intended to be. That's if CDPR ever allow modding tools to be used like the Skyrim Creation kit did.

It’s safe to say that Sony will not allow Cyberpunk back on their platform until the native PS5 version is done, but I wouldn’t be surprised if CDPR doesn’t even deliver that. They want to abandon this game sooner than later so people can start sucking them off again over Witcher.

What a disaster this project was. At least it was funny watching the cheerleaders embarrass themselves for wanting the game to “beat” TLOU2 in some mentally ill fanboy war. I still don’t understand what that was all about.

Unless they're planning on releasing some sort of gigantic redux overhaul of the game, wouldn't a new director for the game just be working on the DLC? It's not rare for the DLC / Expansions to have different leads from the base game.

It won't be Starfield. Bethesda has gotten smart and doesn't hype shit up much until the last minute and Starfield is only getting hyped by hardcore Bethesda fans right now.

Elder Scrolls VI could possibly be it simply because they were stupid and announced it way too fucking early like Cyberpunk was announced though.

My bet is on GTA VI. A lot of normies don't understand that Rockstar now produces games as a single entity for the most part, and they don't understand that little to no work was being done during RDR2's development. This gives it a nice 10 year "development" cycle. On top of GTA Online becoming the defacto "GTA" and the almost certainty of nothing carrying over into a GTA Online 2, you have the possibility of a LOT of people getting pissed off.

Also if the rumors of it being a 70's/80's drug running setting are true, be prepared for dipshit Zoomers (the main GTA demo now) to absolutely lose their shit.

Still, if a certain New York Times article is anything to go by, then a nuclear flop like Cyberpunk 2077 could have only happened under CD Projeckt S.A., which means that for all their faults: Activision, EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda, and what have you couldn't release something quite like this.

I dunno, I could still see it happening to Rockstar with GTA VI considering how many of their old timers have left at this point.

I'd argue we've already seen it start with the abysmal state of Red Dead Redemption 2 post launch.

I feel sorry for that guy Amatangelo. Like Sessions said, imagine being made captain of a sunken ship.

The problems in CP2077 go way beyond bugfixing. They hyped a product they did not deliver, and there's no way to deliver it. Even Fallout 76 was in better shape despite Bethesda ALSO eating some class action lawsuits.

On a side note, I wholly approve of beating companies with legal action for this bullshit. Enough is enough. Stop promising me the moon and then not delivering, faggots. But then, this shit has been going on since Atari management told Howard Warshaw 'crank out an E.T. game in six weeks'.

That will never happen cause it works. A marketing budget is probably better then a testing budget at this point to get a quick sale of a game and then patch it later. Companies can lie to customers about what will be in a video game all they want its just CDPR fucked up by lying to investors.

Nah, it'll be Starfield. You don't even need PR hype machines anymore, the dumbass consumer does it himself now.

Plus you got Todd Howard coming out saying, "Diversity is our strength" tier shit and made announcements to hire minorities because they're minorities -- if I remember right.
