Everyone has heard of cryptids. Bigfoot, Loch ness monster, Crabpeople, Manbearpig etc.
But my quesiton is, who here believes in any of them?
Granted I think most of them are bunk. But there are some that may be possible..

For instance, this creature is supposed to be a dinosaur that lives in the Congo.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mokele-mbembe
It seems reasonable. After all, the congo is a very tropical, wet and unexplored place. Who's to say there arent some large, undiscovered creatures there.
Bigfoot I could go either way on.
I know there are plenty of Aussies here. Any thoughts on the (presumably) extinct thylacine?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thylacine
Sorry if it seems kinda dumb. I've been watching a lot of "MonsterQuest" lately and thought maybe some of the creatures could be real.. hopefully..

I'm most fond of this one:

in speaking of which, here is Tsuchinoko, it's what Dunspace is based off of, it loves booze and is known as the "bee snake"

That looks like a savanna monitor

because it probably is, but touched up a bit or taken in such a way to make it look like it doesn't have any feet and then fool people into thinking it's a real siting.

Edit: Oh my gosh, what an adorable picture!

I love cryptozoology!
The Wendigo is my favourite creature: http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Wendigo

Being from Minnesota, I'm familiar with the Minnesota Iceman: http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Minnesota_Iceman

Teakettler, another Minnesota thing: http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Teakettler

Beast of Dartmoor is pretty interesting: http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Beast_of_Dartmoor

Mothman of course! http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Mothman

The Deer Woman is pretty cool, plus I'm a sucker for deer legends: http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Deer_Woman

Michigan Dogman is another one I'm familiar with: http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Michigan_Dogman

Goatman :heart-full: http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Maryland_Goatman

Az-I-Wu-Gum-Ki-Mukh’Ti is adorable: http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Az-I-Wu-Gum-Ki-Mukh-'Ti

Lord, yes! I am a total fan. And who's to say really. When they brought the first specimens of platypus back to England they were accused of stitching different animals together to create it. Until the 19th Century Europeans thought gorillas, okapis and pandas were complete fairy tales. I'm all for weird things in the forests and lakes of the world!

I don't mind Cryptozoology in a sort of intellectual curiosity sort of way. I mean the Platypus was at one point a mythological creature until it was discovered.

But things like people actively trying to look for the Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot really weirds me out.

There is also a case to be made that common mythological creatures like the fire breathing dragon and the unicorn are actually descriptions of animals that grew more fantastical over time. The fire breathing dragon is usually associated with the giant crocodile Saint George slew, which had a large darting tongue that overtime in many paintings was portrayed more akin to fire. Likewise the unicorn as described in the Bible is closer to a Rhino than a horse with a horn.

You guys are going to laugh at me but I think its possible Bigfoot might be real. Mostly because the local natives (from whom I'm descended, so I'm not 100% objective) have legends of an ape beast going back hundreds if not thousands of years. A culture that had never seen an ape, or even a hominid that wasn't human since those species don't exist on North America, and never have.

Yet they managed to create out of thin air a myth about a very ape-like creature.
