I'm still not really sure what this trial is all about. What Dan says about it doesn't really match up with the relevant penal code. It's hard to believe that Dan lacks a proper understanding of his own court case considering you'd think his public defender would ensure Dan would understand, but this is Dan after all - the man who thinks women aren't responsive to his accosting on the street because they have no sex drive.

The trial was about following and recording an underage girl who is a stranger, then posting online in detail how you love her and want to fuck her. Dan understood the charges, but in his narcissistic world view he couldn't admit he did something wrong---even if he didn't believe it---to get out of jail time. Instead it was the fault of society/Starbucks/protein/no one likes sex but me. I'm sure the public defender advised him to admit guilt (since their main defense was that no one could prove Dan logged in as Dan Cilley and made those comments, which was ridiculous when he's admitted it in videos the prosecutor had seen).

In order to get insight as to what's going on, I had to go back to page 41 and read every comment all the way up to page 52. Then go to page 1 and click all the links (most of them are broken, but the ones that still work show an incredible amount of cringe) to read what he says in his own words. I think the defense lawyer told him to shut up about accosting women on his facebook and Dancilley.com because he hasn't made a peep about sex since the trial started.

Edit: It took me 5 hours on a lazy Saturday afternoon to read up on everything, so the rabbit hole runs deep.

Edit #2: As for the trial ending, we should get the sentence right after the trial ends if he's found guilty because its a jury trial. If it were a bench trial, the sentencing would be in a few months.

Edit #3: What in the world could there be in this trial that is taking five days?!?!?? He stalked a 15 year old and made some comments. The witness list for the prosecution must be miles long.

I get what you're saying because it seems simple, but today (the 24th) was the 4th day they were actually in court. This is to send a man to jail, in real life. Four days is actually really, really brief for a criminal case jury trial.

People have been sent to prison for life after trials lasting less than a day.

Dan made a blog post about the case on his site after the first day of the trial (and his Facebook post after his initial arrest in January is archived on his Encyclopedia Dramatica page):

The jury are going to have more information than is publicly available (eg the actual YouTube comments [unless someone here screen captured them], originating IP addresses, statement and/or testimony from the girl about how the comments made her feel annoyed/threatened) and will reach a verdict on the specific facts of this case.

Does anyone know if transcripts will be available from this court hearing? Will be interested to learn the results once the jury is done. Yeah, as per strandedcastaway's comment, seems like the jury is still deliberating, unless they haven't updated their system yet today. They usually update it twice a day, but then again, it's only 2:45 Pacific time, so still plenty of chance to do so.

Probably, but last I heard, California has outrageously expensive prices for transcripts. It might be cheaper if it gets appealed and the appellant has to pay for the original transcripts, but I seem to remember something like $0.50 a page just for copies.

Fuck Commiefornia. This is a state that would charge your family for the lethal injection if they could get away with it.

Checking http://app5.lasd.org/iic it looks like Dan is in jail (well, in the courthouse) right now for some reason. Maybe he was found guilty and his sentence/punishment won't be handed down fully until 05/30?

Wow, yeah, if he was found not guilty, he would have been able to simply walk out of courthouse then and there. I was the jury foreman for a criminal trial once in California, where I used to live, and when we found the guy not guilty, he was just allowed to leave. So, huh, guess he's in the slammer!

Thanks for the info everyone. If you read further down the page @paperbag posted, it says his next court date is 5/30. So, I'd imagine he was found guilty and they're holding him in jail until sentencing.

He handled this as poorly as possible, and now he's going to go away for a while. The funniest thing will be if he comes out in 6 months (or whateva, as Dan would say) and he says the exact same shit he said before he went in.

The site updated to include his location as well. Inmate Reception Center.

He was already making excuses for why he could be found guilty recently. Because the jury might not like someone wanting to have infinite amount of babies and have sex with infinite women. Highly unlikely he will ever blame his own behavior. I hope he was in tears screaming "I'm a good person" when the guilty verdict was read.

Happy for Kim. Be nice if she could relocate by the time he is out and not have to worry about him anymore. Hope he gets his ass kicked in prison once for every time he forced himself on her. Again screaming "I'm a good person" while getting pummeled.

I don't think he even properly understood what he was being charged with. He seemed to think he'd be able to get off if it was proven that he didn't have an unnatural or abnormal sexual interest in children.

The fact of the matter is that Dan did annoy/molest a person who was under 18 years of age, by following and recording the 15 year old girl from behind with his camera (saying 'oh my God, perfect lighting') after she said 'no thank you', so he did violate 647.6(a)(1). Though I'm not sure what Youtube video comments he made that triggered the victim and her parents to file a police report and whether the court case was centered solely on those comments and/or Dan's actions on the street.

Found this:

An incident on Jan. 2, 2016, however, landed him in trouble due to the age of his target. A 15-year-old girl was walking in Downtown when Cilley approached her, filming her while stating how much he likes her, according to court documents. The girl walked toward her family in a waiting car while Cilley filmed her bottom and stated, “I love you, I love you!”

In April, the victim learned that a video of her had been posted on Cilley’s public Youtube account, along with a number of sexually explicit comments by Cilley himself. The parents reported the incident to the FBI and made a cybertip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to documents.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Crimes Against Children division contacted Cilley in September to demand that he stop the behavior and not film or make sexual remarks to minors.

The case was filed in December, and Cilley went to trial before a jury at Downtown’s Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center. On Thursday, May 25, he was convicted of one count of child annoying, defined as harassment of a minor motivated by sexual interest.

Cilley’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 30.

Good find @Accostus. From the article, the penalty for what Dan was convicted of is up to a $5000 fine and up to 1 year in county jail. County jail is at least a break for Dan, but he may still find out how it feels to have things other than a camera tripod or bottle stuck up his ass.

That fine though---you KNOW Kim will end up paying that.

He'll probably be under a court order not to do that shit any more, so if he does, into the can he goes.

Unfortunately, this will probably dry up content for this cow, but who cares? Society has won.

Incidentally, he might also end up as a sex offender, although I'm not sure about that.

Yeah he said he will have to register as a sex offender if he loses. That alone makes it all worth it. The guy is a legit threat to people. Prison isn't really going to change anything for Dan. Basically how he lives already.
