At least with Gunn people can try and make the argument that (as far as anyone can tell) there's been no allegations of sexual misconduct or abuse against him - compared to people like Spacey, Louis CK, or Weinstein where it was an open secret for years - so despite his edgelord sensibilities towards humor it's never actually exited the realm of fiction.

Harmon however is known for being an emotionally abusive asshole who uses his position to creep on his female underlings for years and only managed to dodge his #metoo controversy by suicide baiting, so I'm curious as to how exactly Harmon's white knights intend to spin this as "only" being behavior from a decade ago.

While a nice sentiment, unfortunatley this only works if you were on the right side of history prior to making apologies. If you are guilty of wrong think and have not passed the purity test no matter how small the transgression; then once a sinner always a sinner.

They are still going after Colin Moriarty for his 'ah. Peace and quiet #adaywithoutawoman' tweet. A joke so tame and old it's likely been around since comedy started, but Gunn / Harmon edgy jokes of the caliber 'hey i fuck kids' are fine because they repented.
 
It's going to be interesting after a few more years of partisan sniping over offensive content to see how drab and boring the entertainment industry will be. Most comics are fucked in the head which is why they're actually funny.
