I think there will absolutely be a 4th season and I'm sure AS is already begging for it. AS doesn't have shit for original programming right now and they hit the jackpot with R&M. I can see the 4th season losing steam and/or being the last season if they take for-fucking-ever to release it again. If it seriously takes them years, way less people are going to give a shit.

Venture Bros fans are an entirely different breed to be fair. They can endure years and years of hiatus yet still manage the energy to hype up the newest season. In contrast, SU has been on hiatus for like half a year and is losing steam completely. It really depends on the fandom and I think R&M has a shitty, meme-based fandom that will be too interested in the next memelord fad in a year or two.

Lolno, they have a long running history of self sabotage out of spite. Williams Street is made of morons. Years ago, they scrubbed their lineup of all their anime and crammed it with all their shitty reappropriated Hanna/Barbera cartoons and their ratings plummet. They were eventually forced to go back on this decision.

Dont forget that era of giving Tim and Eric live action time...and the other live action shows.

Honestly, I know a ton of folks over 35+ that love Rick and Morty. They also fucking despise "fandom" as a concept, aren't on Twitter at all, and did not show up at McDonald's for sauce. Ya know. Dan Harmon's generation. Who are in their own terrible marriages, and probably are staring down housing their own terrible, alcoholic father-in-laws. So... it may get kicked off CN (but I doubt it), but that doesn't mean it will just go away.

According to the DVD extras, there is a room in Korea where a small army of (presumably) Koreans animate the show. This takes a while and when they get the episodes back from Korea, they usually go in and fix goofy shit, which takes more time. But yeah, most of the delays concerning The Venture Bros. come down to the two creators and not the network.

And to corroborate your second point, as long as they don't take the five years it took them to get from Season 1 to Season 2, we're good. I fucking got a bachelor's degree in the time it took them to get Season 2 out to market.
