Having listened to a ton of harmon town and going through a lot of Dan Harmons stuff I'll try and sum it up a simply and without autism as I can.
Dan never seems to raise his voice. Instead he gets more methodical and vindictive. He picks people apart saying things he knows will make them emotional all the while trying to come off as the voice of reason. That way they end up feeling bad for yelling at this manipulative asshole even though they were probably in the right. Dan isn't an idiot and he is aware he does this, but he thinks his awareness and token efforts to be better at least put his crimes on the back burner. Creators in hollywood are an emotional lot so it really takes just a bit of emotional intelligence to manipulate people on a conscious or subconscious level.

I honestly doubt he does it consciously at this point, but in the end it makes little difference. He is a manipulative asshole. I know the raising the voice thing at the beginning sounds superfluous, but think about it.

I am certain he doesn't notice he is doing it, and it's because he has to protect his inner narrative of being the guy who is constantly picked on who is standing up to the bullies. Everyone who makes him feel bad is a bully, this is why he shits on his fans on Twitter and anyone in his life. The little trick he does is that every droning monologue he does, he couches in some self-criticism. It's always "I am a jerk and a fat meanie and a bad white man, BUT..." and then just uncorks on people.

As a seasoned drunk I can tell you most of it is fueled by near-constant alcohol consumption, but if you read his old MySpace blogs he has a serious persecution complex.

A lot of the fans of his shows have this in common with him. His fans ooze "unpopular in high school" even if they're not lolcows. He gets away with being an asshole to them because they think everyone is being mean to them all the time and at least he's honest. Most of his fans are white middle-class dorks which makes their persecution complex funnier. Claiming Harmon's controversy helps normalize pedophilia because people won't take future accusations of real pedophilia seriously, as one fan claimed, is pretty fragile.

I've seen people around the internet describe Dan as the neckbeard power fantasy come to life. It's accurate, he's fat, bitter, apparently a fucking nightmare to be around most of the time...

but people fall over themselves to talk about how cool he is. Nearly all of his output is described as "brilliant". Consequences for shit he does that would damage a normal persons career don't do shit to his, in fact sometimes end up benefiting him. Fucking nothing but good things happen to this man, who is by every indication a quite awful person.

He's everything these losers wish they were; not changing anything, being able to act on their every horrible whim 24/7, and not only aren't punished for it, but routinely rewarded.

Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon recently deleted his Twitter account after a video surfaced of him performing with a baby doll. It was allegedly a parody of Showtime’s Dexter television show.

After the original video resurfaced, Harmon released a statement to USA Today:

“In 2009, I made a ‘pilot’ which strove to parody the series ‘Dexter’ and only succeeded in offending. I quickly realized the content was way too distasteful and took the video down immediately. Nobody should ever have to see what you saw and for that, I sincerely apologize.”

Adult Swim which is the late night adult programming on Cartoon Network and runs the Rick and Morty show issued their own statement:

“At Adult Swim, we seek out and encourage creative freedom and look to push the envelope in many ways, particularly around comedy. The offensive content of Dan’s 2009 video that recently surfaced demonstrates poor judgement and does not reflect the type of content we seek out. Dan recognized his mistake at the time and has apologized. He understands there is no place for this type of content here at Adult Swim.”

However, a new video has surfaced showing Harmon with a real child. The video was posted on Live Leak and claimed to be from Harmon’s Instagram. The uploaded description of the video implies that the child is touching Harmon’s crotch area. It was deleted from the website soon after it was posted.

There is also a video of Harmon performing with Sarah Silverman where he uses the “n” word. And there are a number of blog posts from his MySpace account where he uses the word repeatedly.

Dan Harmon had previously admitted to sexually harassing Megan Ganz in January of this year.

The popular Rick and Morty animated show has been adapted into comics by Oni Press with a story written by Zac Gorman. The show’s third season on Adult Swim was “the most watched comedy among adults between 18-24, according to the last Nielsen survey.”
Additionally the Season 3 premiere had over three million unique visitors watch a surprise livestream on April Fool’s day on Adult Swim’s website and 8.7 million watched it on Facebook. After the success of the third season, the show was not only renewed for a fourth season, but Adult Swim ordered 70 new episodes from Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland. The first three seasons only had 31 episodes total.



Christina Miller, who is the President of Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, and Boomerang praised the show during its Season 3 finale, “Rick and Morty is truly what a modern day hit looks like across multiple screens and multiple touchpoints.”

The wonderful gay dads the media lauded, who had a baby by Russian surrogate, joked around with reporters about how authorities gave them trouble because of suspicion that they were pedophiles. Turns out they were, and they'd only had the baby with the purpose of abusing it. Sexually assaulted him before he was two weeks old, farmed him out to at least eight other baby rapists until authorities caught up with them more than six years later.

Apparently Hasbro and Lauren Faust had it out because she was not happy with the bronies and complained to Hasbro, who basically said “we don’t care who we’re selling toys to, as long as we’re selling toys.”

So you’re not too far off the mark
