I've been rewatching the Null interview, although he might have been overselling it a little, I'm kinda floored by the idea that DSP's hatedom is so strong that he's essentially the only one that wouldn't get a reprieve from the Farms going under. I've only loosely paid attention to DSP over the years and just knew him as the 'bad at videogames" guy and it's truly fasicinating that someone like DSP has fostered such a concentration of people that want him to suffer. And I'm talking about the likes of the Comcast guy and bank leaks guy, not the Farms. It's an enigma to me.

One thing I noticed is that this seems to have been the first time the KC guys put any pressure on Phil (correct me if i am wrong) Otherwise they glazed him, invited him on their show, helped him earn a nice sum so far and even become more like the old king of hate

For starters, there was no way they were going to let DSP slide with the pedo shit. If they were going to press DSP on anything unprompted, this was it. But more to the point, PPP mentioned this later on in the stream, the unapologetic glazing allowed them to pressure DSP without him writing PPP and Andy off as more detractors and retreating back to his corner of the internet. So we might see the Casino press DSP on other things down the line. The implicit threat of losing KC and their paypigs probably helped too.

It took like 20 minutes of 3 guys naming the pedo to get him to yeet Derich, and later on in his own stream he still acted obstinate and said he doesn't understand why it needs to happen. Just saying.

One point that I had expected Null to make is that nuking a board/thread just because it has a lot of disruptive users immediately gives any cow and their friends an incentive to intentionally shit up their own thread in a similar manner in order to receive the same treatment. Get rid of the idiots that can't stop themselves from cow tipping, but don't remove the content.

I also think Null could have pushed back harder on Phil with regards to people posting damaging things about him on the internet. There are plenty of people who have made far more slanderous and damaging statements about Josh, such as allegations of him hosting child porn among others. Null has had weirdos show up at his house or has been fucked with just as much in Phil in many ways.

Null and DSP should have thrown down in a video game though.

What Phil fails to understand, or at least is unwilling to admit, is the only reason he ever gained any noteriety in the first place and the only reason he has a following of detractors is because of the content and behavior he himself has made public.
Yeah there's been some off the wall insane shit people have pulled to fuck with him, some of it incontrovertibly criminal, but to try to pretend as if it isn't his own actions that garnered him the negative attention in the first place is deluded.

DSP seems to have gained at least some savvy over the years in how to deal with trolls but to really turn a page would require a healthy dose of introspection and coming to terms with the fact it's his own ill temper that is the pivotal factor attracting negative attention.

Phil is very odd in this regard and is hard to really analyze on this subject. It feels like he wants the attention and enjoys having drama for content, but when he actually receives it he gets so overwhelmed with it being present. I remember in the John and Rambo conversation them mentioning that after Phil started bringing stuff about them up on his channel they confronted him and suddenly he had nothing to say. Other times with things like the masturbation incident you could tell he didn't want to draw attention to it at first until he started to realize that it was bringing it clicks and views to his channel.

I think part of the issue is that we have to remember that Phil doesn't experience the world like a normal person. Just going online and putting on a stream means he is owed value from whoever watched it, of course that is monetary. If he doordashed a burger and the order is even slightly wrong, he will karen out directly to the corporate office and demand they make him whole.

Because he is an alien that does not understand that is not how humans work, he ends up lashing out at people who didn't "pay him" something tangible of equivalent or greater value than what he believes he is worth, that's what makes him be an asshole to most people, including his own parents.

This literally all there is to him in regards of how he views interactions.

I sort of agree in the sense that Phil isn't quite as bad as some lolcows, but that's really because those particular cows set the bar incredibly low. But Phil is god awful at his job. I'll give him some credit that, when he first got started like 15 years ago, he displayed some intelligence, intentional or not, by taking advantage of YouTube's algorithm. But that was the height of his career, and since then, he's been years behind on just about every streaming innovation/trend. It's honestly only in the last 4 or 5 years he's even learned to try and treat his streaming different than his standard video creation. And even then, I don't think he understands *why* those changes are necessary but he just emulated what other streamers were doing.

But there's a very real world where, if Phil was smarter, he'd be one of those YouTubers who made millions at the height of his career. I don't think he would have hit like...PewDiePie levels of success or anything, but I'd wager he'd be earning at least like, 3 or 4 times what he's making now. And that would largely be passive income just from having his channel existing, meaning he would not only have more money, but could take more time off and actually play the few games he really enjoys without feeling like he has to chase day one views and beg for money. Even if he just listened to the advice Machinima gave him and followed up on the connections they tried to set him up with, he'd be in a much better position. Well, at least in terms of making money, ultimately his gambling addiction would still do him in, but maybe if he was more successful, especially if he branched out like he was advised, he'd have enough going on where he wasn't a hermit with nothing else to do but gamble.

He is at the very least smarter than Boogie. He was smart enough not to claim he was the one who was dying as part of his grift, but his parents, and he didn't get specific and instead just implied it was their health failing than old age. That's smarter then claiming to have cancer, which is much easier to debunk.

All I know is that he's one of the first streamers ever, he's bad at videogames, he doesn't like it when people make fun of him/critisize him, he's a shit cook, and occasionally ebegs but I never understood what he did to merit such extreme notoriety across the Internet.
