Well in that case, a professional and trusted documentarian should then just do everything to clear the good name of that poor WWEC player who was confused for DSP. He's a guy who just wants to be left alone and got hounded out of his favorite online communities while playing his favorite game and constantly harassed by trolls, even though he doesn't even know who this DSP fella is supposed to be.

Nothing but a sit down interview to rehabilitate this person shall suffice.

This may not be how you pitched it to him, Mike, but this is how Phil believes it is going to be.

Having been able to speak with Mike, I now have a general understanding of how the final product will look judging by the questions he's asking. My advice would be to lower expectations if you're envisioning any sort of hit piece or gotcha. It's going to be no longer than an hour total and it'd be impossible to do everything across Phil's life justice in that span. Don't hold your breath for some high stakes interrogation where Phil finally cracks and admits to everything.

Ultimately, if you want to expose Phil's true nature then the human element should take priority over compiling a laundry list of misdeeds for Phil to debunk.

I’ll bring up my favorite quote about Phil because throughout his entire YouTube career, and hell throughout his life, one thing will always be true:

You cannot do business with Phil Burnell and come out clean on the other end.

Another thing related to the FGC, I'm sure he'll try to spin it in a nicer way when talking to you; but in the past, Phil's said how he didn't want to do the World Warrior stuff (travel to tournaments) and how he left others behind, talking as if he progressed in life or maturity or something. Keep in mind that other people still current or respected in the FGC have progressed past Phil, while maintaining their presence in the FGC. He'll bring up Tokido and how he lost to him at EVO 2005; what Phil doesn't know or want to admit is that Tokido went to Tokyo University (best college in Japan) and majored in Chemical Engineering, while playing videogames. Fuudo, another Japanese player, married a legitimate model and has a child. Max Dood (big twitch streamer) is married, owns a house, and has a child. Justin Wong, house, married, child. Alex Valle, house, child, owns and operates a barcade. There are more, but I'm not gonna just throw a hundred names at you; but the point is, he likes to talk that he grew up and moved on and left people behind... if you were to issue a blind taste test and put Phil against any of the guys I named, with the choice being who is the more successful (and truly happier) person; I'm willing to bet that nine times out of ten it'd be the other person, and most of that one time is just noise in the system. Even if we're to compare Phil to John Rambo and Howard; Rambo did an independent film, has actual credits to his (real) name, Howard and his girlfriend took a trip to Japan. Phil would like you to think he's out here being a Sigma Grindset type, when he can't even go on a honeymoon with his soul maid.

It's just a recap with little pushback on whatever phil says, no filming of the fat cunt Khet, no interview with previous life partners to see Phil behind the scenes (and not the fake one he makes up or the one that is YOUTUBE MODE OFF), no actual finances talk with any sort of source (piece of paper from SS 2.0)

Nothing of value as expected. Turkey Tom already did it Mike, and judging by how you went into the main thread without obviously reading any of the highlights means you're just getting those highlights from individuals and abbreviating them into a downtherabbithole/turkeytom collection for the masses. Effectively a cash cow with the only work being getting that B roll and "reflection" from Phil -- which, as pointed out almost literally fucking everywhere, will be heavily laundered lies.

I'm unsure if @mikeclum is still lurking and browsing in this thread but one thing I would advise that others have probably already touched on; do not allow Phil free rein about the content of the documentary. No one cares about his extremely brief Street Fighter 'career' that he's very likely to attempt to focus on and it's already been covered extensively elsewhere. If you must include it I would not give more than a brief 5-10 minute section on it.

Phil, likely, believes that he can fool you into believing his lies, and use your documentary to control the narrative around how he is perceived online, and this is the only reason why Phil has chosen to stay in contact with you.

^Please keep this statement in mind because it is incredibly accurate and is almost certainly Phil's intentions with you and the documentary.

He seeks, according to yesterday's pre-stream, to say his side of the story, which is to address the drama in a controlled environment.
This means that the interview in his head will go like this:

The problem is that the things Phil will want to talk about is the shit that no one cares about. Nobody cares that he has 15 years in YouTube, nobody cares about his Street Fighter background, even the 4th place at EVO, which he held in the highest regard for years is constantly ridiculed.

He'll even complain about this. He'll say "no one talks about the positives of my career", but he doesn't understand that no one cares and/or is not anything impressive to talk about. I started watching him when I was 18, now i'm at my 30s and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that his content has gotten exponentially worse with time. I've seen him try a billion of gimmicks with no success.
