DarksydePhil Meta Thread - Discussion of the board itself.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Thanks for the recommendation I guess!

Null doesn’t know me though, but if he thinks he can trust me, I wouldn’t mind taking a turn as a mod. (If that is compatible with the having a life and a full time job, that is.)

Not sure if Null has access to this data but

1. Top 10-20 accounts by post number in this subforum
2. Check their post history to see if they venture outside into other threads (i highly recommend Fatrick)
3. Put to a vote. Not because its a democracy but to vote for accounts that the sub feels would be best as mod. Reasonable, active and not a complete sperg.
4. Null has final say

If Null has final say, there's point in doing a vote. He wants people who are going to stop the problems this subforum has and make it better with the rest of site. Having people who are part of the problem recommending people who are part of the problem for Mods just means this situation will happen again down the road. Better idea would be to get a mix of people from outside this subforum and inside it to keep moderation and board personality inline with the others.

Probably the best bet is just to continue having the older population interact with the 99% newer than 2020 population that exists now. Eventually they will come to understand that just as important as discussion is archival, and making information readily available. Infact this is a critical failure of the DSP community in my opinion. Look at how many new detractors come into the scene, and because his many exploits are not readily available information much information is lost to time. Those new content creator detractors then become lazy dent-tractors sitting on livestreams getting quarters flicked at them as they bitch about every tiny thing DSP says or does because in real-time DSP is boring and does little, but across time he does funny/stupid shit to embarrass himself.

Mods aside, is there a way we can get a new FAQ updated that includes the broad strokes of Phil's history in a way that's better as an introduction?

I know the current FAQ has most of it but it might be helpful to get an updated broad strokes view of why Phil is funny instead of past events being buried in the OG general or defunct threads.

It'd be helpful for whenever Phil creeps into the happenings thread for catching people up on what about Phil makes him funny and some highlights over the years both old (bacon grease in the toilet, buyer's market for BMWs) and new (Sidescrollers podcast, etc).

You know, thats an idea

Does the inclusion of DSP segments on Mati appease anyone? I know it was mentioned during the shit storm that people felt Phil wasn't represented enough to the site at large. It just feels weird seeing DSP segments during the podcast. More than likely, the regulars have already seen these so it's nothing new. Most of the chat during the podcast seems to hate the segments (but also think itsagundam is based). I don't see the need for mundane DSP segments to be featured in a effort to quell the regulars if it just showcases how boring and repetitive he is to the greater population.

I think this subforum is forgotten about, including by Null. The community happenings thread also very rarely gets posts from here. Compare posts about DSP to Gunt or Rekeita. There are noteworthy events on Phil, but maybe not to the outsider.

Recent events have changed that, so maybe there will be more eyes on the pigroach moving forward.

I think the two segments about the Argentinian subs and the documentary were worth mentioning, the Argentinian stuff has been some of the most unhinged shit I've seen from DSP in a while, and the documentary because of how big the Boogie one was and how big DSPs could have been as well as DSPs half assed excuses he made as to why he cancelled it.

@Null I don't know what the negative nancies are on about, I like it that you take more of an interest in DSP to the point we even get something featured on the frontpage or a short segment on MATI, please keep doing them by any means.

Money talk has always been a hot topic in the sphere and while I do think him chimping out at the prospect of not getting paid (or not nearly as much as he was hoping) and trying to scam his audience for more is hilarious, there are other more "benign" aspects to him as well. Somewhat recently we had the mini pc arc where his tech illiteracy and general lack of problem solving is put on full display and you get a banger like "AMD processors are meant to overheat" and some more talk about "cooling solutions" and how you can't play games without said solution. We know how verbose Phil is but I think you do a good job boiling it down to the essentials and highlighting just how goofy this guy is. Short clips like him leading up to the AMD statement and just laughing at the absurdity of what he's saying with such confidence would work well on the show I think.

On the last episode of MATI you were talking about how DSP cancelled the documentary because you think he realized that he actually has amounted to so little it doesn't warrant a documentary. I disagree. I have learned to take Phil more at face value if it's not something money related. I do think there is some subconscious realization going on that has manifested in some unhinged cope about the factor of success he is having. The dude seriously said there are around 10k fans (be it casual or hardcore) divided across his streams, youtube channels or in a general passing by audience. Meanwhile he can't even break 500 views on most of his videos, his chat is always going at a snails pace and the bulk of his income is made up by a handful of deep wallets. He wanted this documentary because he truly believes how he's viewed is unfair. He got cold feet because he was burned so badly with the interview last year, after legitimate fans told him this documentary won't be a good idea, I think it made him realize that the potential for it going wrong is much higher.

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to interact with the subforum instead of just lashing out and dipping, I'll send you send crypto for your lawsuit. Godsneed.
