He wanted validation and got none of it. It's why I said this interview would change nothing about DSP. He wanted somebody outside of his circle of Kat and his audience to listen to him and agree that detractors are bad and then say he seems like a decent guy in a public setting. He planned on putting it on a pedestal of "See? I told you guys" and it backfired in his face. Instead he got backed into a corner and refused to give any proof of anything he's claimed and gave his "detractors" more ammo.
This is pretty much what Phil had in mind originally, well he definitely thought it wasn't going to end the way it did and it was when they started asking him fairly detailed and specific questions about stuff "behind the scenes", it was at that point he really started to falter and was getting fairly uncomfortable based on his body language and tone (even then I don't even think many of the questions they asked him crossed any particular boundaries, Phil was even willing to describe exactly what he was spending his money on at one point, i.e. the Hulu subscription lol).
When he was complaining that he was devastated to hear that Craig tweeted out about how they were inviting him onto the show and that they wanted to ask Phil some questions by reaching out to people on twitter, that was outright the worst thing that they could have possibly done in his eyes
He really did want to "shoot the shit" so speak, show up, stand on his pedestal about how he's one of the most prolific content creators on the internet with a massive turd cloud that follows him on these deranged discord servers and numerous forums because these mentally ill morahns obsess over how successful and popular Phil really is and how these trolls are so mad and upset about that, they try their absolute hardest to make Phil give up and walk away form kanent creation.
It would have been a pity fest, I'm really glad Craig and Adam did what they did because it truly showed that normies outside of his immediate subscriber circle weren't going to fall for any of his lies and half truth rubbish that he always does to his strange fanbase, they both realised that Phil himself is too stuck in his own world, in constant denial and paranoia about these trolls and other issues that he exaggerates without being directly honest and probably needs some form of help.
You know that comment and about him considering to seek some sort of help was the straw that broke Phil's back, because he really wanted them to say that about the detractors, not Phil.
