There's now a subreddit that is apparently dedicated to DSP:
https://www.reddit.com/r/DSPDiscussion/

"DSPDiscussion is a subreddit centered around the internet-famous Darksydephil (or DSPGaming/KOGaming), and to a lesser extent the people who surround him."

An interesting comment from some post about his recent emergency/audit situation:
"My guess he was doing the same thing as onision. He probably opened up multiple business credit cards, which is fraud if you do not have at least an llc registered. He then used these cards for everything, and claimed it as taxes to get to 0% tax rate."

This guy shares everything online and has had detractors for how long? And he thought this was a good idea? "I'll just pay nothing in taxes for years(or decades, depends on how long he wanted to do it) and i'll totally get away with it. "

brilliant idea Phil, share everything you do online, have haters and on top of that, attempt to scam the fucking IRS.

There's a shitty fucking lag going on right now the IRS is just exploiting it to win the round.

From everything he has said, he has paid his taxes. I don't think there is any doubt in this. He pays it quarterly so he doesn't have to pay a massive amount at the end of the year (at a higher rate).

The question is more:
  • Has the IRS decided to audit him because his business expenses are not considered to be legitimate business costs?
I posted that quote because it mentioned the business credit card angle which I didn't think had been considered. I assume that is some sort of loophole.

From further reading of that Reddit legaladvice thread that people thought was DSP, people said you'd have to have about a million USD in deductions to owe 300k.
There is no way DSP has spent anywhere near that amount. He has basically nothing.

Ah fair enough, I got really worried that DSP was actually dumb enough to try to avoid paying taxes all together(which in hindsight would be weird because he goes on and on about not wanting to move back due to higher taxes)

16:10 "I worked my ass off to get here,I put myself in a ton of debt to get here, and its because of all the fucking people that has done nasty shit to me that Im in the situation that im in rigth now, thats matter of fact"

Fucking lol,he truly belives he dindu nuffin,he thinks he is a good boi,he was just going to stream an shit and those evil detractors are out to get him.

I cloud go on a rant on everything that Phil has done wrong over the years but it would take too long. I hope he owes thousands of dollars to the IRS ,that way I can tweet him that part and tell him "Phil, how is it the detractors fault that you were evading taxes?".

Is there any solid evidence at all that Phil is indeed in trouble with the IRS and is having tax issues, or is this all just hearsay and speculation? By solid evidence I mean documents or information beyond just Phil's words. Something that actually holds weight. Let's be real here people he's said he'd lose his house so many times before it means absolutely nothing now. And the whole "Leanna is pregnant" theory was so laughable I nearly died from cardiac arrest.

I'd say besides the IRS audit being a possibility the most likely scenario is that the bank took another look at Phil and whether he was a risk.

I'm assuming Phil got the loan for his house based upon his and Leanna's income. I assume he'd also have to provide documentation about how he was going to pay for it (print outs of his YouTube channel no doubt).

From my reading if the bank somehow committed fraud when allowing the initial loan, and then it is sold on to another lender, the new lender can basically ask for documentation or tell you to pay up.

It could also possibly be that the risk management of the bank has decided that Phil is a huge risk (especially as he is self employed, and I assume they can probably see that his bank account has been barely scraping by for month). Add to that car payments, second house payments, credit card payments etc and they may have decided he was too risky.

This could also explain his usage of the word notice, because its called a "loan/mortgage recall notice".

I'm not a banking expert, but how exactly Phil managed to take out a loan on a second property when he hadn't paid his first property off is a bit of a mystery.

EDIT:
From more reading the following are reasons why a bank could foreclose on your home:
  • Failing to pay property taxes
  • Failing to pay homeowners insurance
  • Failing to maintain the property

Yeah, the very fact that he said "I just want people to be nice to me" should tell you everything you need to know about his motivations. He's trying to exploit the disbanding of the SoK by crying crocodile tears. He might even be trying a new tactic, where he vaguely mentions severe financial difficulties in order to plant the "donate money" seed and then goes for a more explicit "I'm a sad boy" message.

I think you guys might be right with the IRS thing but I also think it could be related to the Equifax Data Breach. They leaked the personal data of 143 million Americans. (names, birth dates, addresses, social security numbers, as well as some driver's license numbers and credit card numbers)
That means there's around a 50% chance his data is out there. He had a few quotes in the video that made me lean more towards this theory.

"got some news that's devastating IF something happens"

"It's not 100% guaranteed yet, I don't know what's going to happen. there's potential for things to go horribly wrong"

"especially with what people have done with my personal information in the past I don't feel like I should be sharing any more than just this initial letting you know something is wrong"

"it's a situation where I've done everything right, I have not done a damned thing wrong whatsoever yet it looks like I may end up in a ton of financial trouble"

So if he's nervous about identity theft I'm not surprised how worried he looked in that video but he could just be acting for all we know.

The link goes to a 1/25/2016 pre stream (conveniently deleted by Phil but saved by Fred Fuchs) where Phil explicitly states that it's Youtube & NOT the "little kids that try to fuck with him" that screwed over his business. The relevant part is 13:20 - 14:05. Unfortunately I'm on a mobile device & can't paste a video at a certain time.

Assuming this is true, I'd confidently bet anything that Mr. Street Smarts did that enrollment scam thing that made him surrender his right to engage in a lawsuit.

I agree that he's using SoK to get pitybux but why do you think he made a point to tell everyone he doesn't own a business? That's the most peculiar thing in that vlog far as I'm concerned. Really gets those almonds working.

I think we're really starting to sperg out with this IRS talk. I mean, come on, this is Phil we're talking about. Are we really taking his "I'm going to lose my house" claims seriously? Keep in mind, a day or two ago he ended his stream by saying that he'll be financially fine if he gets through October. Which is typically what he says every month.

As for the "he would get in trouble if he outright said he was audited" arguments. Again...this is Phil we're talking about. Yeah, for an average person, or even someone with below average intelligence, I could understand them not talking about being under audit. But Phil is not one of those people. Remember Machinima? Remember Latvera or whatever the scam company ended up being. Remember the hospital saga? Phil is not smart, and he overshares every little detail of his sad pathetic life, especially right now.

Don't get me wrong, it would be absolutely hilarious if he was audited by the IRS, but I think we're being incredibly optimistic and leaping through a lot of hoops to come to the conclusion. I think Phil is just crying wolf again, and I can almost guarantee that we'll get this same sort of video next month, and the month after and so on and so forth. Knowing Phil, it might not even take that long.

I felt the most peculiar thing was making this dramatic emergency vlahg and then doing a stream the next day basically like nothing had happened. His mood seemed exactly the same and he was talking as if he was still good going into October.

I think people are taking the "I don't own a business anymore" and "I guess it's a self-employment" legacy stuff too literally. A sole proprietor is still a business entity to the IRS, and is allowed to deduct business expenses from business income to reduce taxable self-employment income.

Hi just joined after a while from lurking for god knows how long.
Anyways, more to the point I think the Equifax leak if true would be the major thing bit not cause identity theft. (cause let's face it who wants goutman's credit score?) I think since the site has to look over all effected than more than likely someone from a federal tax institution would have saw all the "business expenses" for DSP Enterprises and decided to look a bit further into this "company" located in a gated Washington community. Again this is just my baseless thoughts.
