Anyone playing the beta? It's a buggy mess but so far the game looks promising, albeit a bit unfinished

I've been waiting somewhat impatiently for the game to drop. I've got one buddy with whom I played a good deal of Vermintide 2 and another who wasn't interested in that due to the fantasy setting but has been keeping an eye on this because 40K.
To be honest though, I just want to roll Ogryn. Let someone else deal with all the psyker fuckery, I just want to be large and mash things into paste with a 6-gauge shotgun.

If you preorder the game you can hop into the beta right now, at least on Steam. Progress might not transfer over to launch so if you do go that route just treat it like a beta rather than early access.

It's pretty fun so far. I really like that you can double up on characters in this one, always thought that was annoying in vermintide. I'm probably not going to seriously get into it for a few months until the Devs clean things up under the hood. Fatshark games always seem to need a little extra time post-launch.

Some of the characters I've seen crack me up.

I'm not in such a rush that I'm willing to preorder. Aforementioned 40K dude was, but he's been having technical issues getting the game to launch, which I really hope get ironed out before full release.

At least Vermintide had a good reason. Putting up with one Kerillian player at a time is bad enough, fuck having three of them on one team.

I watched a friend stream a bit of the beta earlier and he had some bald, Santa Claus beard-having, Amerifat trucker-looking Ogryn in his team who just kept retard raging and bum rushing off on his own and it's been a little while since I've laughed that hard at watching something.

I'm not sure if I'll jump in on that pre-order beta, but I'm definitely more convinced than I was before to buy it.

The open beta they had a few weeks ago was fucking pathetic form a technical standpoint. I really enjoyed V1 and V2 despite not caring about oldhammer, so I was hyped as fuck about darktide, but it ran so poorly I couldn't get into it during the beta. I'd recommend people wait until Fatshark makes it so you can stay at least at 60 fps during critical horde fights before buying it.

It's against my religion to preorder but I'll buy it on launch if the bugs are manageable, otherwise I'll wait a couple of months. Looks fun though.

Very much looking forward to a new Jesper Kyd soundtrack. I guess I'll check out the game as well at some point in the distant future.

I'd like to play it as me and my friends loved Vermintide 1 and 2, as well as similar games like Payday 2. The problem is all of said friends are saying they're "done" with 4 player co-op horde shooters. I think a few still play Deep Rock Galactic occasionally, but most don't bother with those kinds of games any more.

I don't know if that feeling is common, or just within my friend group.

Jesus Christ this game runs like ass. I've got a 5600X and a 3060ti and I can't even get 50fps with recommended settings and DLSS on ultra performance. But the performance has nothing on the matchmaking, my Internet is shit but I can't even connect to start a match.

I was surprised about how unoptimized it is. Vermintide 2 had similar specs to Vermintide 1 given how well they optimized it but with Darktide they just tossed the optimization right out the window.

My assumption is they set the deadline too early for the game and didn't get the time to do more optimization.

I'm on a 1080TI. I should not be getting the performance I am getting. Sub 60 on medium settings is not acceptable.

Also whilst the environments are lovely, There are about 3 of them and they start to blur together. Which doesn't help how repetitive and content light this game feels.

Huh. And here I am with a venerable-at-this-point vega 56 chugging along at 60fps on medium settings @ 2k.

Game's Vermintide 2 in SPAAAACE which is fine. The level design, or the randomization thereof is somewhat annoying, but it hits all the correct notes for a 40k game. Congrats Fat Shark, you have the record for making some of more competent Warhammer-adjacent vidija.

Playing on a 1070 and have had absolutely no performance issues on medium settings. My main issue is all environments are samey and I think ammo drops should be for the whole team, not just whoever grabs it first. I like how most people are playing Veteran, this is probably the only game that lets you actually be an Imperial Guardsman.

Honestly, part of the appeal is that you're not a Space Marine of any stripe. Sure, you're a convict press-ganged into an Inquisitorial goon squad, but you're just a bunch of replaceable, "regular" blokes.
Ogryn is just tall Bardin, and it's amazing.

i'm happy my gtx 1060ti runs it, have to play on mid/low at 1080p though, card struggles with 4k

the more I play zombie army 4 the more I'm disappointed rebellion never grabbed the 40k license to make a warhammer version and the only option is fatshark jank...
From what I understand, GW is super strict with 40k licenses and doesn't really allow devs any leeway.

Which is sad cause even with strict control most of the 40k games have been at the "mediocre" level with a few "hey this is actually pretty good".

Which is sad cause there are soooooooooooo many great ways you can take any gene in 40K besides just Space Marines. Like a Silent Hill type game when some guardsman has to escape a planet getting taken over by Tzeentch, making their own Among Us with Gene Stealers in a ship, Colony Sim on Catachan, etc.
