I probably should've expected that.
Maybe they could've called it Reblogcon or something. I don't know, just anything but Dashcon.

Also maybe they should have marketed it as a brony convention and got a few more suckers to slap money down

That would literally have to be a given since the name would make one think of the fictional character. Even then, you have tumblr's dedicated to the character and the media said character comes from so that too can be a given. It's like A-Stump said, you have people of the fandom who have a bunch of tumblr's dedicated to that show.

Probably though not all of tumblr is keen on the fanbase, especially when you consider how the fanbase and SJW's have clashed over the show and fan content related to it.

They would of definitely made more money off of them. Rather than $17,000, they could of made $50,000 or a $100,000 but then again, the ball pit would be able to accommodate all of them. It may as well be at this point I can only think of why they might call it dashcon: Because the tumblr's have dashboards or something.

Well, you have SJW's saying they are MLP fans but they don't want the name bronies because the latter appropriated a show from little girls. Still, it wouldn't matter since both groups have lol-cows that sperg.
