Culture Dates set for first ‘man free’ festival in Sweden - the festival if the future, where nothing can possiblie go wrong

The first man-free music event organized in response to sexual offences at concerts in Sweden will be held at the end of next summer. Tickets will be available in just two weeks, according to an announcement ironically released on International Men’s Day.
Swedish comedian Emma Knyckare came up with the idea of a man-free music festival in July after the cancellation of the Bravalla Festival amid reports of sexual assaults and allegations of rape. Back then, the comedian suggested having a “really cool festival where only non-men are welcome,” but did not imagine the support and fundraising success her idea would have.

Apart from women, the event, called Statement Festival, will also welcome non-binary and trans people, and will be held from August 31 to September 1 in Gothenburg. The date and venue of the event were disclosed on International Men’s Day – November 19.

Swedish comedian finally names her ‘man free’ festival after fundraising success
Announcing the event on their official social media accounts, the organizers said they are presenting some “more important” dates than International Men’s Day.

“We thought it was an appropriate day to talk about it – a reminder of the issues women still face from men,” Knyckare told the Local.

Some organization details are still to be figured out, such as how to prevent men from entering. Still, the creators believe that it is important to allow trans men to come as they are “exposed to violence, hate and threats based on prevailing norms in our society.”

“We do not claim that Statement Festival is the solution to the problems with the sexual violence – it’s a reaction to it,” the event’s website says, adding that its team hopes the event will “not be necessary” in the future.

Sweden has faced a wave of sexual offence allegations at popular music events. In July, the annual Bravalla Festival was cancelled due to reports of four cases of rape and 22 cases of molestation. In August, Swedish police confirmed that four teenage girls reported being raped at a festival in the town of Emmaboda, and 11 other women experienced sexual abuse there.

Because man hating 'always' works

Does the ban on men extend to the musicians? If so, you can kiss any reasonable attendance good-bye. I dare you to name just one entirely female band that you would attend a concert for.

Josie and the the Pussycats? No wait, they were fictional.

And what about the sound guys, the stage hands, the roadies, all the people that set up for the venue? They have to remain on site to keep things running, will all of them be female as well? Maybe that's where the tranny's come in.

Maybe that Canadian chick heavy metal band "Kittie" will show up??

Are clothes optional? I dare someone to go as a trans woman and walk around with their dick out.
Just put a ribbon around the pecker and call it your girldick and you'll be fine.

It'll be interesting seeing how they'll deal with the sudden influx of non-binary demi-femme metro-boys. The loose rules for who is or isn't binary SJWs use doesn't leave much room to reject anybody's gender identity. Deny entrance to one of the actual snowflakes and it won't look pretty.
The only weakspot in all this is that we're talking about Sweden, and the swedes are too milquetoast to try such a thing, I fear.

i'm sure the show will blow more chunks than a drunken frat with food poisoning after a buffet, but i'm also sure the people who attended will all hop on their phones every hour to announce 'pussy mcvagina and the cuntry beavers' is the best band and 'i'm so glad those dirty males aren't here'.

you know what, i want to see them try to do an all female crew. i want to hear the stories as a few alpha bitches try to pull rank or accuse random workers of being men in disguise. it'll go to shit.

This has all the ingredients that it needs for a complete and utter shitshow.
They'll need security, is that going to be staffed by womynz only? Are the stage-hands going going to be all female? What about the people that stand in the moat in front of the stage that protect the bands? What about the people cleaning up porta-pottys?

What about the artists?

Also, we know what needs to be done here. We use drones to drop buckets of spiders in the festival area and cause a panic.

Won't work if all the participants are pinned to the ground for cultural enrichment.

It would add to the shitness though. :P

PINS

I guess solo artists would count too so add Courtney Barnett (although she couldn't do her new stuff as that was with Kurt Vile)

Sohodolls...
I imagine IF this thing actually goes through they'll have musicians who are either local or some rubbish virtue-signalling artists from abroad.
Can you imagine any record company letting popular artists go to a festival in a country known for sexual attacks without a load of burly security types?

This is gonna be good. I'll make the popcorn!
if it turns out to be a clusterfuck, I'm sure MEN will be to blame... something something patriarchy, something something internalized misogyny...

Pretty much. I'd also like to think that any legitimate music artist would be appalled by the idea as music is for everyone and is meant to be a great unifier rather being used in such a divisive way.

Just thought of two more all-girl bands that are alright, Hinds and Girl Ray

even the fucking message is messed up.

What if I am equally scared of trans men as I am of cis-men?
Then Statement Festival is not a free zone for me. It is of course very sad if you would still feel unsafe, however for us organising Statement Festival it is important to include trans men at our festival, because they are a group that is very exposed to violence, hate and threats based on prevailing norms in our society.

(taken from the official website),
Basically "we don't care what you are afraid of, it's about CIS-MEN".
The first argument of the convention was to make everyone feel safe.
