There are still Israelis who think that because Israel helped Chinese agriculture and especially cow milking technology (no joke) in the 1980s and 1990s that China won't align with the oil rich Muslims against them (fucking LOL)

Not that China already thought about a canard equipped single engine fighter in the 1970s and was working on a advanced fighter jet with MD in the 1980s pre Tianammen Square.

Pre 1989, and post 1980 the USA was actually on pretty good terms with the CCP.

Zhukov said that they didn't have the raw materials to make bullets and explosives before lend-lease. I've seen interviews with Russian grannies who said that they were starving until American stamped food showed up.

A more infuriating part is that it always comes off as a cheap attempt at making the Soviets look stronger instead of painting them as smart. You've got the Arsenal of Democracy willing to offer a helping hand while you're dealing with one of the biggest shitstorms in human history, fuck yeah you take that offer. A smarter course of action is to emphasize on how the Soviets made use of American aid while freeing up their domestic industries to produce more guns and tanks to send to the front and eventually turn the tide of the war while studying the various things the Americans gave 'em and taking notes. It fits the anti-wehraboo purpose wonderfully by showing what happens when you try being diplomatic instead of an hyper-aggressive fucktard who invades all his neighbors and for the tankies, eh I don't think they know what "smart" is.

But I suppose that's a bit less exciting than talking about tanks for the umpteenth time.

The libtard narrative demands the Soviets to be depicted as the bumbling evil empire because these people operate with a Star Wars movie plot mindset. They can't be represented as capable and cunning, they must be depicted as barbaric brutes who only win because the plot demands them to win at this part of the script. In a funny way, it's the exact same sort of "muh asiatic hordes" of narrative but with the average Russian being depicted as an Imperial Stormtrooper who can be cut down in the millions by the Rebel Alliance rather than a Mongol horde ready to go medieval.

I see it more like the difference between Scottish and English, but much less talked about before 2022 because most people who aren't Slavs see Ukraine, Belarus and Russian Federation as just three granular varieties of Russian that are seperated by administrative borders of the Soviet Union. Then again, most people still think of it all as Soviet Union even though the Union has been dead for almost 40 years.
 
If you talk to Ukrainians about their language, you'll probably hear some of them denying that Russian is a slavic language at all, compared to Ukrainian.

Which, fair enough, Ukrainian is much closer than Russian to most other eastern-european languages by percentage. They can talk to Polish people and such just fine, from my understanding.

No. China had the J-9 program, cancelled it, and hired IAI consultants after the Lavi was cancelled to help make the J-10, everything inside of the J-10 is different, the closest thing between them is the basic shape, which was also modified because of the switch from a small PW engine to a huge AL-31, then the WS-10. These are massive changes, and that's before getting into the fact that the avionics, missiles, etc are all Chinese, it's more indigenous than the fucking Gripen. The J-10C is even more divorced from the Lavi too (which was what Pakistan used to down Indian Rafales).

I'm not even denying that the J-10 probably benefited from Lavi data, but they're not the same jet.

yeah, the guys i talked to that stated this were overexaggerating a bit despite it being decades ago, cuz they were amongst the ones working on it

ive had to listed to a 40 minute rant about it about a year ago
