They can't even come up with something that ISN'T either a shitty meme that's older than they are, or a misspelling of a crass internet slang phrase.
They are fighting Russians but since they are both children and/also are commies, they don't think of taking some names from cold war movies. Call it Wolverine from Red Dawn, boom, aggressive, insulting, and respectful to the aircraft. I thought of that in 5 seconds.

Wolverines have already featured in the conflict, during the early days in fact.

We have an update on the NAFO Mig-29
'Better red then dead' is interesting because the kinda guy who had that engraved on lighter in Nam would also beat the shit out of the average NAFO redditor for being an antiwar hippy. Either way, all disgusting. JDAMs should be authorized on who ever's doing this.

It's also interesting in that this sort of old cold warrior nonsense is making a comeback because for whatever reason; People still seem to think the Soviet Union is still hiding under a bed or something, waiting to pop out and reimpose the marxist-leninist orthodoxy at the drop of a hat.

By people who wouldn't be caught dead defending any war the US fought against actual communists and USSR proxies. Make it make sense.

That's pretty much a lot of Congress these past few years. Still haunted by the spectre of Communism.

Could also be the Fed also wants an external threat to fear monger about along with us "right-wing nazis". But they don't wanna name china because they wouldn't get their bribe money anymore. The military industrial complex must press on.

I think the PRC is not the thing to fear-monger about because these types have all been conditioned to view any yellow peril stuff with suspicion. Meanwhile in the anglospherical racial taxonomy, Russia is a safe white target that is simultaneously behind everything doubleplusungood in the west and yet, about to break into 20+ states from a lack of blue jeans and Coca-Cola.

It's sad how communism has infected the military and the sphere around it. China is ready to go Japan 2.0 even as Japan, Taiwan, and the entire region are gearing up for war. They're also fucking with the Philippines. A lot.

Thankfully the Department of the Navy at least is very aware of this and intends to be ready by 2030. Japan itself now has it's own Marine Corps, modeled after and trained by the USMC, pointed directly at China for 'self defense of out laying islands' and their 'helicopter carriers' need like a week in port to reinforce the deck plates before they're full CVs.

Oh Japan has been going like crazy. I'd recommend looking at their frigate program rn. They're pumping them out like mad

Article 9 has always been an inside joke, but they've really stopped pretending. Fun fact: The reason Japanese media loves naming things as a 'special unit' or 'special equipment' is that's how the JSDF got around limitations. Back in the 60s they scoured the world and decided the best option for a 'special construction vehicle' for natural disaster relief was American tanks with the turret removed. In a show of good faith the turrets would be looked after by the American military. In Japan.

The funniest one is how their carriers are classed as destroyers. They aren't, but it gets past all restrictions with a class change.

The Russians also do this. Every aircraft carrier they've ever built has been classified as a cruiser. This is because Turkey doesn't allow aircraft carriers through their straits, but they do allow cruisers.

Everybody does that. Our "Destroyers" are heavier than our WWII Heavy Cruisers. It's either budgetary fuckery (in our case), treaty fuckery (Russia), or legal fuckery (Japan).

The modern US destroyer has a displacement of about 8,000 tons. The Baltimore class from WWII was 14,000 tons. The even larger Alaska class was 29,771 tons.

Which modern US destroyers are you referencing?
