I think failure is in her DNA. There is only one thing she’ll succeed at, and it’s dying early, as we all know.
What a waste of humanity Not everybody can be a great musician, a writer, an inventor, a Jobs or Gates. Most of us work hard, pursue hobbies, raise kids, somehow make our little spot in the world better and meaningful to us and friends while we are here.
And then there are the Ambers’. There are plenty of them. They take, are selfish, care for nothing but their immediate needs. Things like promising to do something or even take care of themselves -they don’t wanna. so they manipulate people or steal to do for them.
Contrast that with Becky’s mom. I know nothing about her except she raised a weak daughter who fell into Amber’s clutches. Don’t know if Mom’s cancer is aggressive or something easily fixed like DCIS. Still, it’s a frightening time for a woman, and she’ll likely have to go through many unpleasant things because of it. It’s possible that it’s even metastatic and terminal. And while she goes through painful treatments, surgeries, maybe chemo, the side effects that come with that, all to stay alive for another day, week or year,...she has to see Amber and her failure and excuses.
While she faces her mortality, she sees a woman who won’t stop eating to save her own life. It’s got to be mystifying to watch this behemoth and what she goes through, day after day, knowing she doesn’t even have the strength of will to finish something so meaningless as a few more videos.
Most people, when they face death (or even think they are as most cancer patients do at first) understand the importance of the next sunrise, of the laughter of a friend, of doing what you say and the importance of doing things you don’t want to do. Yet as she goes through all this, she looks at her daughter’s girlfriend and sees somebody who truly doesn’t get it. She’s a human waste with no meaning to her life. It has to hurt and be frustrating.
Becky’s mother is worried about her health but if her breast cancer is curable, as about 80% are, she needs to work next in getting Becky away from Amber and back to humanity. You don’t have to be smart or pretty to have a good, successful life, few of us get to be Jobs or Santana, but Amber is a black hole who will suck everyone in and destroy their life. its like Becky is in a cult and needs to be pulled out.
Becky’s moms cancer is about Amber. She has no empathy. And she’s probably annoyed that Becky is helping her mother now, and it’s why her hair is the filthiest I’ve ever seen. her slave is busy, how dare she? Well, Amber just can’t go on!
TL:dr. It’s hard to see a loved one struggle to keep their life while somebody next to them just throws theirs away. And it’d be harder, I’d guess, to actually BE the person struggling and have your own child be part of the waste.
