I'll have to catch that
ngl Iron Bat Man rightfully gets shit but I dug the AntiPredator Bat Power Armor that time he fought Predator
It’s set in the 2004 “The Batman” show which was fucking awesome, it was pretty much “Ultimate Batman” and once you look at it through that lense, the changes make more sense.

The movie really pushed what they could do in a direct to DVD kids movie, Joker bathing in blood, Penguin saying “nice jugulars” in reference to Vicki Vale, Dracula is a gestalt of his cinematic versions and as such the vampire sexual undertones are shockingly preserved and as a kid it was genuinely creepy some of the things that happen.

It’s peak Batman.

Plus Peter Stormare goes ham with the voice acting as Dracula, he did not have to give it a 110% but he did and when I read the novel as an adult, it was his version that I “heard” and I still associate Stormare’s Dracula as the “definitive” voice that I think of with the vampire.

Hate it when Gotham is just a “regular city” that’s so fucking gay. It’s like when Metropolis is just New York, no, bring on the raygun gothic vibe, gimme a Bioshock retro utopia.
people forget that to many "the big city" was creepy and weird, thats why you had so many turn of the century films that painted it as such, you go from horses to cars and blimps and all this weird tech and it would be very offputting to someone who doesn't fit in.

Another part to bring home is that Batman is supposed to be so unbelievably frightening that the biggest psychopaths ever were scared. It reminds me of what they used to say about Tyson, you'd have these professional fighters who've been boxing the majority of their lives. 6 and a half foot tall men in peak physical condition and they'd step into the ring like they were 9 years old and their dad just opened the door holding a bad report card and a belt. The type of men you'd walk across the street if you saw them and they turned into the most scared little kid just from being feet from Mike Tyson. guys who've been in a hundred fights acting like they've never been punched in the face before.

Thats the type of fear Batman gave to these people. guys who'd never had a soul before suddenly going "its getting pretty dark out" just because they're that scared of the bat.
I like my Gotham city to be some weird clusterfuck of disgusting 1970s new york, the late 1930s new york, and a Gothic cathedral gargoyle filled vampire den looking imaginary world shot in odd German expressions angles where it's always wet. I like my gotham an inconsistent pile of contradictions that the story says fuck it and glosses over the fact it has such a schizophrenic look because, who cares. It isn't real. But it looks cool.
them making Gotham basically New Orleans with subways in the latest film is a great idea because its exactly that, the crime levels of 1970 NYC, filled with old school religious architecture and enough spirituality that some nigga running around as a bat could be legit.

Agree, would also throw in that Gotham needs some form of a Wonder Land angle. Batman has long had ties to Lewis Carol and Gotham wouldn't be Gotham without its seemingly evolving landscape. Beyond the obvious with Hatter, I think Ivy best represents the Wonder Land side of Gotham as her plants seemingly engulf the city and lead to this bizarre/unreal landscape. I always picture the near end of Arkham Asylum when describing Gotham, full of graffiti, loons, toxins and man-eating plants overtaking any form of sanity.

I swear Gotham works off of Silent Hill logic, where the city seems to bend itself around whatever loon is occupying it that moment. Ivy brings a plant hell, Mr. Freeze the arctic, Joker/Harley a carnival, Scarecrow always brings insects, Ratcatcher brings rats, Mad Hatter usually brings Wonder Land, Two Face always gets splits, etc.. Hell, the city seems to conform around Batman as well, always giving him a legion of bats at the ready.

I like when stories point this out, but how it also hinders Batman's mission. How can a man that frightens the scariest of people possibly make children feel safe?

that looks sorta like political cartoon guy who drew Trump and Uncle Ben rescuing Aunt Jamima and Biden taking the black from that girl

personally I like my Batman to also operate like gotham on sort of impossible logic. The Batman in my head if someone just says Batman I think of, is a guy who's like a demon out of the shadows who will cripple an entire room full of henchmen in a minute, strikes extreme fear in the heart of psychos, but at the end of the night is walking down the road full costume while the sun comes up and knows every hooker by name and is making sure they're going home safe. Might show up to Leslie Tompkins place right after that at 8 am for the last thing he does at the end of his day is stop by and say hello to all the orphans who he also knows by name.

that's what I love so much about the era of Batman I prefer, is to criminals he might as well be the devil himself. but to kids and the downtrodden he's hope. They have no reason to be scared of him, only the people who should be are, and they aren't just scared, they're fucking terrified.

Does it make a lot of sense? Not really but again it isn't real, I don't care.

This kind of talk pisses me off because the second I start talking about the comic book roots being forgotten I know I've already lost. The Nolan movies were too profitable and now every superhero is trying to be the next Batman.

To be honest. I don’t think normies give a shit about James Gunn or the DCU. DCU speculation videos are not trending at all. Even Guardians of the Galaxy 3 didn't do as well as the previous movies.
On the subject of the video. I say there is a good chance Robert Patterson Batman will be retcon to be the DCU Batman.

1.IGN is always commonly bad. Odds of Robert Patterson be the DCU Batman went up overnight because IGN said no.

2. I find suspicious geek culture journalists are all pissed about Robert Patterson's Batman being more popular than the upcoming DCU.

I actually enjoyed Pat Bat even with all the flaws the movie had, it was still more enjoyable than anything coming out of DC in years. I’d rather they keep Pattinson then try again with another actor, besides I hated the idea behind them starting a new Universe where everyone is fresh and new but Bruce is a veteran older hero, that’s retarded. If your gonna restart it, restart it all… or just don’t do it and stop making these fucking movies.

Gotham seems to have built in the place with most cursed real estate ever, so nothing here makes sense.
I blame Ace Chemicals. Think about it, it's the one industry that both creates supervillains and chemical bombs AND is never prosecuted ever because it's the one heavy industry Gotham has. No Ace Chemicals, no economy.

Isn't Wayne Enterprises majority stockholder of Ace Chemicals? Makes you think, doesn't it.

did we all watch the same batman? the RPats Batman is like a neat mix of the comic book roots people here have and that "realism" of the nolan films. Batman literally survives being right in front of a bomb when it goes off in that fucking film. also tanks slamming into the ground and an entire clip of rifle rounds to the chest.

the city both has levys and an entire subway system. You still have entire orphanages for fucks sake.

What about Bludhaven then, allegedly worse than Gotham?

The wiki states it never got off the ground on account of it being in New Jersey. Gotham has some decent businesses in it like Wayne Industries which contributes to the economic GDP of the city. Bludhaven doesn't have any of that.

You know, Wayne Industries has to look weird from a Defense contractor standpoint. It does bother making high-end aerospace and land vehicles, but since it's all tied up in Batman projects, they don't really sell them. So what the US DoD gets is the second-tier Wayne Industries products and prefers Lexcorp for quality arms.

Bludhaven is what Gotham would have been without the Wayne companies (and Batman).

They probably get high quality stuff from Wayne. Batman does not kill but he might be fine with soldiers. He will not provide them with Batarangs but his cape is made from a material that glides and that could make a great parachute. No way he does not have Lucius decide what to sell to the government while keeping his secret.

Lexcorp, on the other hand, is run by a megalomaniac out for money and power. They might keep him at arms length in order to keep him in check. The man gets beaten and exposed as a criminal by Superman on a daily basis. It is hard to remain in the good graces of the army when you endanger General Lane's daughter with your criminal side-gigs. Wayne is far less likely to do such things.

Don't forget Bats also funded the Watchtower in some incarnations. I wonder if someone bothered to look at the funding, and if Batman "disappears them" if they start poking too much.
I can see Bruce Wayne funding the Watchtower himself; that was the case in the first Justice League cartoon. Bruce "funding" Batman has been a thing for a while. He admitted to funding Batman when he announced his involvement with Batman Incorporated.

imo the most underrated (if you can say that about any of the movie) part of the dark knight (besides the fact two face is overshadowed hard by joker even though he's the best thing in the movie) is that guy who goes to Lucius and says our whole R&D department disappeared overnight and now the tank you designed is out there driving over cop cars on the news. and Lucius is like you're telling me you think our boss, the richest man in the world, dresses up like a bat, and beats criminals on the street half to death with his bare hands for kicks and you want to blackmail that guy? have fun. lmfao owned bitch. I imagine in most incarnations shit like that happens all the time. there might be a dedicated pay these guys off fund, or batman scares them, or even just nobody believes it because Bruce Wayne only ever shows up on the news as like a drunk rich asshole so nobody believes it anyways. that said, If they need (which they don't) an excuse, whenever Bruce just comes out and is like I bankroll Batman, criminals killed my parents, he fights them, I donate some cash to him alongside all the other gotham charities and shit.

in other news I just read an article that Clayface was a huge part of, if not the main villain of The Batman Part II until Gunn decided to greenlight the Clayface solo movie instead and took him off the board. fuck you, you faggot. I knew it! I wanted to see Reeves' Batman movies get to do more out there stuff and they're cucking him because he didn't want to be a part of their gay little universe starring C-listers and Superman. I guess we know why the script got thrown in the trash and restarted like 3 times.

For all the hype about ‘World’s Finest,’ I have yet to see a single Batman/Superman crossover that didn’t make me want to throw both of them into the sun. It's a bad combo.

That said I’ll freely acknowledge I might be talking out of my ass here, given that I am, in fact, a DC-hating goblin.
