I'm Cautiously optimistic about Lanterns. To be honest my only concern is if the special effects will be good considering it's a streaming show budget not a theatrical budget.

“Superman: Legacy”

Set to open on July 11, 2025, “Superman: Legacy” will mark “the start of the DCU,” as Safran put it, but it will not be an origin story of the proverbial Man of Steel.

“It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing,” Safran said. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.”

Gunn is writing the project, and Safran said he hopes Gunn “can be persuaded, perhaps, to direct it as well.” (Gunn, sitting right next to Safran, remained uncharacteristically poker faced in response.)

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav made no secret that rebooting Superman was a top priority for the company as he spent much of 2022 searching for the right leaders for DC Studios. So it’s little surprise Gunn and Safran are turning to the most recognizable superhero in the world to lead the charge for the DCU.

“‘Superman’ is for everyone,” Gunn said. “That’s a four quadrant film that should speak to everyone in the world.”
Let us take a look at the reaction for this Superman movie since he's "for everyone".

This version of Robin is Damian Wayne; Gunn described him as “our favorite Robin,” “a little son of a bitch,” an “assassin” and a “murderer.”
Is Damian even popular among fans compared to the other Robins?
“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”

Based on King’s comics run of the same title from 2021 and 2022, “Woman of Tomorrow” features Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El, who, as Gunn explained, “is a very different type of Supergirl.”

“We see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he’s an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life.”

Gunn called this Supergirl “much more hardcore” — though King’s series also involves Krypto, the superdog.
Well, I won't expect Krypto to be this project based on how Gunn described it. This sounds like it will be a dark, gritty movie that Snyder was criticized for with MOS and BvS.

He is the least liked Robin, but still holds a lot of fans. He seems to be overshadowing Tim Drake, so he may be more well known than him at this point.

God I hate Twitter.

James Gunn doesn't have the ability to write anything genuine or unironic so getting him to write a Superman film is baffling. I expect jokes about wearing underwear on the outside and being weak to a green rock.
I don’t mind Gunn that much, be he seems like a weird fit for Superman. He is better with weird obscure teams.

Gunn is just this decades version of Joss Whedon. Same quipy dialog in movies that are indistinguishable from each other. But with pedophilia instead of creepy misogyny.

I doubt the reboot will be any more successful than the first go round. None of the ideas sound great, there's still a bunch of woke shit, and they still aren't giving the fans anything they want. On top of that I think the public is getting sick of capeshit and we're about to see a depression as bad or worse than the 1930s. There's just not going to be enough ticket sales to justify big budget movies and superhero movies on a budget suck.

I had a feeling DC would push Damian Wayne in live action and animation after DC made Tim Drake bisexual for stupid woke points. Damian Wayne will become the go to Robin from now on. I wouldn't be shocked if it was just Dick Greyson nightwing and Damian Wayne Robin if next time DC comics do another reboot. I love that Batman's biological son, who is half Arab and possibly a Muslim, is canon homophobic and makes fun of Superman's gay son and gay pride parades to try to make Jonathan Kent look good.

He isn't half arab. Ra al Ghul is East Asian, and Talia al Ghul's mother is Chinese and Arab.

There's so much I can feel is wrong in the line-up that it's surprising DC isn't cancelling it already.

1: This is supposed to be All Star Superman, so it seems hard to fuck this up, but I really don't trust James Gunn of all people to write a Superman story. He's just a less worse version of Joss Whedon to me.

Man of Steel despite some minor issues, was a kino film in my book, & it achieved what it set out to do. It's got some strawman seethe behind it but it does what it does (Optimistic Superman is nice, but the major issue is when some unironic boomers start dilating about "muh kill rule" & the harmless tiny Jesus symbolism that has existed with Superman for decades (his creators are 2 juice people) only understandable one is Pa Kent with that tornado retardation. Then you get certain superfags rant about a specific requirements Superman must have which happen to be hypocritical & ironic when compared to the product they complain so much about (just see Superman 2's bar scene & Zod's death scene).

It’s over-reactionary crap like that which collapsed DC. Gunn can’t save it either because he wants to work on his obscure daddy issue characters. There’s a lot of people that should’ve been fired after the JL 2017 fiasco that weren’t.

Also, killing Zod is based, comic accurate & ironically less brutal than the Superman 2 version.

All this is without going into the lack of Cavill & Affleck playing Superman & Batman. At least Affleck quit on his own terms, Cavill just gets straight-up backstabbed here too many times.

>Cavill signs on for 4 films as Superman
>For literal YEARS he was dodging cameo spots that tried to trap him in to his 4th appearance from a contractual level
>Refused cameos in Shazam, Peacemaker, The Suicide Squad, & WW1984, even refused to shoot new footage for ZSJL
>WB kept insisting he was still Superman but they're looking at options for Elseworld shit
>Finally does a cameo in Black Adam as a sign of good faith
>"Whoops, that's your 4th film Henry time to reopen contract talks awww jeeez guess we're not going to hire you, bye bye!"

Fucking scumbaggery is real here. How is WB even gonna try to get them back is beyond me.

It's actually impressive in a way how DC got 2 chads built like a fucking brick shithouse (a dedication rarely seen in capestuff) & still shit the bed.

Then there's this:
(A separate Superman movie produced by J.J. Abrams through Bad Robot, and written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, remains in development and would exist outside the DCU.)
Why does this even exist? I thought Zaslav crushed this notion before it even began production. This is the worst fucking team-up possible, due to having the worst fucking people behind it.

2: The Authority just sounds something like The Boys, & that turned to shit after S1. I'm also saying this cause there's another Ennis behind this. Also, we might unironically get a TLOU Episode 3 type situation in this. The whole thing is about a gay Superman & gayer Batman.

I heard that the comics for them aren't bad, & Midnighter (the gay Batman) is very based character. I just don't trust modern Hollywood.

3: Batman film
It sounds somewhat intresting, but I don't understand why they chose Damian Wayne of all the Robins. He's considered to be the worst mainstream Robin of all. However there's one massive issue that might make this the worst Batman movie of the 20's in the making.

>Tom King

Fucking Tom King, people think Zack Snyder's stuff was brooding and edgy? Wait till they see what this motherfucker ends up cooking. If you don't know the infamous Tom King & his saga (unironically the funniest thing related to DC comics), the thing he's known the most for is making the worst Batman story that surpassed Kevin James & was so bad that DC almost got a class action lawsuit against it.

4: Supergirl
I would be excited, but the CW show leaves a sour taste about the topic. Also, I just know she'll be the usual shitty Hollywood girlboss™, who might be even worse than the CW one (at least the actress was hot in that one. That's not even talking about the Tom King issue here, which is probably the biggest issue.

I'm just happy she's not a redhead, fucking imagine.

5: Swamp Thing
I've heard that the cancelled show had a kino pilot, so if done right, this might be also kino. I might have the most hope for this of all things.

6: Creature Commandos
This kinda seems like rip-off of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which doesn't really make it bad in my book, but I do feel indifferent to this.

7: Waller
A fucking Waller TV show, who wants to watch this? Who is this even made for? Her daughter was the worst character in Peacemaker, she herself is only liked in DCEU because her actress is good at her job.

8: Lanterns
Jon's my 2nd favourite Green Lantern after Guy Gardner, so I'm excited for this. I feel like they should just call it Green Lanterns, maybe because of the Ryan Renolds association.

9: Paradise Lost
If this was around the time of the 1st WW release, or even just before WW1984, I would been hopeful for this, WW1984 & WB/DC's treatment of their female characters make me fucking cautious of this more than anything.

Also, ZSJL set a new standard for Amazonians. If it's not Snu-Snu bricc mommies, it's not Amazonian.

10: Booster Gold
He's something of an underdog of DC, & I actually like him from the little bit I know about him. Which is why I really don't think WB & modern DC should even touch him.

If you don't know why, here's the Booster Gold from Legends of Tomorrow.

Fucking Smallville did it better with way lower budget.

I'm not really surprised at the reaction, it's twitter, the commiefag response you can imagine would come out of this. That said, the Boy Scout Superman really does get boring after a while. Even Christopher Reeve admitted to it since Superman 3.

As for Damian, he's considered to be the least liked mainstream Robin. He does have some fans, but he's majorly disliked.

Damn, Damian might be my favourite Robin from now on. Also, fun fact, they cancelled the gay Connor Kent thing. If only Tim Drake could also be decanonized.

Honestly I lost fate in a better DCEU once I heard Jamess Gunn was giving control. This fucker has no idea how to write a serious story without quirks and meta humor.
