I'd say even beforehand, The Last Stand had cracks forming while Origins... just sucked.
And that was followed up with...a complete recast and reboot.

And I'd like someone to point out these glaring recasts in the X-Men films. There was Kitty Pride who was a cameo in the first movie and barely a character in the second. Then there was...Sabertooth in Origins?

Or are we really going to count the "blink and you miss it" shit like Hank McCoy being some dude on a TV screen in X2?

The best part was how in x3 the black dude from predator was playing stryker and then he became a game of thrones midget in days of future past.

Really the idea of starting fresh in DC isnt that bad an idea given DC's comics own tendency to do that. What pisses me off is that they are not even entertaining the idea of giving some closure to zack synder's legacy. They really have a hate boner for that man and his work. To the point where I believe the flash movie was explicitly designed to reset and shit all over his vision for the characters. Hilariously that backfired horribly. They've reshot the shit out of that movie, cut it to hell and back and have deal with the scandals Ezra has under his belt. It's not going to make its money back.

The guy they are screwing over twice as much as Henry would have to be Michael Keaton. He was supposed to have a batman beyond movie with MICHELLE Pfeiffer but apparently they hate making money. on top of that his role in flash has been drastically reduced and batgirl got deleted (yeah I know it was almost certainly ass, I still wanted to see his scene) I dont know who the hell he pissed off but he's not getting a lot of breaks.

The one thing I am really curious about is if gun has the balls to keep anybody around from suicide squad and peacemaker. He has to fully commit or admit he's a biased bastard.

The more I think about it, the more I think he's way in over his head and is really going to fuck over the franchise. If he wasn't paid to do so already. Dude's record is not good enough to justify command, and his personal history of pedo accusations makes him more then a little suspect.

Not to derail your thread, but greetings from the RWBY thread! I'm here to bring you the good news that a movie has been made about a Justice League RWBY crossover animated by none other than Rooster Teeth!

Give all thanks to @Random Internet Dude for archiving this so you don't give these guys any clicks or cash. Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

While I am kinda mixed on the reboot of the DCEU, Snydertards are just on a whole 'nother level of sad and cope

I really, really hate all Snyder films. But I thought Cavill was a great pick for Superman/Kal-El and would have loved to see him directed by someone competent at direction. Despite that I'd be ok with a reboot if it wasn't rehashing the whole young Superman origin story...again. I want to see an older Superman whose been superhero-ing for a while. We don't need to see the origin to get to the middle, just start with the more experienced superhero. A Kingdom Come adaption would be great, just not by Gunn. He's a one trick pony along the same lines as Whedon - just even more immature humor. I like what he's done, but it gets old fast and it's not really appropriate for most of DC's characters.

That, and do a story that doesn't involve Lex Luthor. Pretty sad we've only had Man of Steel to not have Luthor involved as an antagonist.

Or General Zod. Like seriously Superman has some interesting villains like Metallo, Toyman, Parasite, and Brainiac to name a few. But all the films want to depict is either Zod or Luther

I think Lex should always be there, he doesn't have to be the main villain or even really a villain in every movie. He can just be part of the supporting cast who has an antagonistic relationship with Superman. Just like Lois should always be there even if Superman isn't banging her. They are important supporting characters in the Superman world.

Hell he can help fund or give backup to some of the major villains.

I mean, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are still going as Wolverine and Deadpool, despite Reynolds' debut as "Deadpool" in a Wolverine movie, despite First Class and Logan and everything else. RDJ was in his 40s when he was cast as Iron Man. The tv show Superman and Lois retained Superman's actor from the Supergirl show despite being a reboot (or alternate universe or something). And nobody was begging for that guy to come back, although it turns out he's fine if the writing isn't shit.

Now all those examples are a bit different from the Cavill-Znyder situation, but still: they aren't ditching Cavill because they somehow have to. Maybe there's truth to the Doomcuck rumor posted above. If they're doing it so just they can have another go at making their own answer to the MCU, with a younger cast, and the award-winning writer of Lollipop Chainsaw at the helm, as the superhero movie fad cools off, I expect it won't go much better than the last try.

But the last time Cavill was out, it was because they were doing Black Superman and/or Supermanwoman. So I have this sneaking suspicion that maybe the real reason he's not coming back is that they're not going to do an actual Superman movie, they're going to do something really really dumb.

I wish DC just kept Cavill and did an origin for Jonathan Kent. Superdad is really becoming one of the most loved parts of the character, so it would be nice to see another go at it, especially with how much more prominent that aspect is in comics and now animated features. I feel like this would also open the flood gate more to finally get Robin in a film again. The Bat-family is such a large part of Batman. It is criminal that all that has been done on the big screen for it are Joel’s films and LEGO. It would be nice to have a Batman that doesn’t go darker and more isolationist than the previous for once.

Also, where the hell is Teen Titans!? I swear to god DC, you have this super beloved team of characters that typically breaks the norm in terms of fans and never use them for universe films? Why? Why are you like this? You guys would rather continue to astro-turf Suicide Squad into being popular than use your popular brand for bigger projects. Again, why?

I got your Teen Titans movie right here:

It's pretty stupid ditching Cavill. He was one of the best Superman castings in recent memory, just because he got completely wasted doesn't mean he couldn't do great with better material. Everyone else they could easily replace with someone better (though I kind of enjoyed Jason Momoa as Aquachad but the problem is that his portrayal would work way better with the original version of Aquaman when he wasn't some Atlantean royalty but basically the ocean version of a mysterious gunslinger traversing the Wild West to right injustices) but Cavill is indispensable.

"people hated snyder films because conspiracy and not because they are shit"

Fuck, I don't even hate Snyder's films all that much, I just find them a waste of decent potential but this is just next-level delusional.

I'm not really sure what closure there really is. Justice League's Special Cut was fundamentally the same movie as Whedon League except stretched out over 4 hours with slightly more Cyborg backstory and an even worse Steppenwolf. Snyder is basically Hideo Kojima levels of self-indulgent and I can totally see why DC just doesn't care to entertain him further. That being said Gunn piloting the ship is not an improvement, his style worked for Suicide Squad but it will not work for the rest of DC.
