Can I admit I hate how DC movies have introduced the concept Batman's a fairly older hero than the rest of his co-founders of the Justice League, especially in regards to Superman?
I think I’m gonna just go back and watch the BTAS/STAN/JL/JLU cartoons for good interactions between the heroes.
I always figured the age difference between DCAU Batman and Superman was about the same as it is in the Snyder movies. BTAS begins with Batman being an established crimefighter whereas the STAS pilot, a few years later, begins with Clark's debut as Superman. DCAU never brings up what Clark was doing between high school and moving to Metropolis, either. I like the idea of Batman having a career fighting regular dudes and mobsters before falling into the super crowd.

I find it weird that both Baleman and Cav-El apparently both lived like hobos until their 30s, when somebody else suggested they take up superheroing. Some kind of David Goyer thing I guess? Compared to e.g. the backstory in Mask of the Phantasm it's pretty lame.

Now the old tumblr buzzword STD shaming is coming back on Tik Tok recently. I have a feeling whether DC or marvel will start jumping on the anti-STD shaming bandwagon. Maybe giving Superman gay son aids? The American comic book industry has already tried to get fat acceptance superheroes to stick.

Squirrel Girl And Her Unstoppable Extra Chromosome!
Reminder that Chris-chan's Sonichu has more readership than that Squirrel Girl comic.

Sonichu has a larger readership than DC and marvel.
True, but is it really a nice thing to say that "our comic got mogged by CQC's furry tendencies & fetishes turned into a comic" about your own big, professional comic book, which you fucked over multiple people for (there's a very agonizing story behind this comic's production) in name of wokeism?

Seriously, the numbers of the comic weren't bad for an indie project, but this was a Marvel project.

I genuinely wonder if we'll see DC Comics board up shop in our lifetimes. I'd be not surprised if somber over it if it did. The stories and plots feel so lifeless, even more so than if they were simply churning out fairly low-stakes or one-and-done stuff like in the Golden to Bronze Ages.

My personal 'tism is if it ever happens is to scour the continuity from the silver age to (endpoint) and see if a workable continuity in the broadest strokes imaginable (and a Crisis happened, then Bat event, then Wonder event, then whatever) is even vaguely possible.

As long as DC is seen and used as an IP farm it's not going away just yet. But with WB mismanaging and shitting the bed with the DC IP the blame is largely focused on them not those in charge of running DC Comics itself.

I can't wait to see that new Shazam movie, where the villains are a couple of elderly women who aren't even from the comics.

Can't have him fight an evil caterpillar. That would be too fun. Have him fight some old broads instead.

Shazam is getting fine reviews but yeah it's going to flop, so no Mr Mind as a main villain anytime soon because I don't think a Shazam reboot will be on top on the DC to do list. Best case is that it has Puss in Boots: The Last Wish legs but doubt that

Gunn on Superman I'm not sure of, what Superman needs to be is very different from his past work but that doesn't mean he is incapable.

Zack Snyder is teasing something

Few things I could see it being, a script reading of the unmade JL movies, a comic book based on his unmade movies or a one shot of Darkseid comic, an animated movie/s based on JL2/3 or maybe he is involved with a New Gods/Darkseid project (movie or show) within the new DCU.

Ben Affleck won't be directing a DCU movie

Don't blame him after the Justice League shit show which seems to be the reason behind it. Mean that movie is why he started to drink

“I was going to direct a Batman, and [Justice League] made me go, ‘I’m out. I never want to do any of this again. I’m not suited’,” he says. “That was the worst experience I’ve ever seen in a business which is full of some shitty experiences. It broke my heart. There was an idea of someone [Joss Whedon] coming in, like, ‘I’ll rescue you and we’ll do 60 days of shooting and I’ll write a whole thing around what you have. I’ve got the secret.’ And it wasn’t the secret. That was hard. And I started to drink too much. I was back at the hotel in London, it was either that or jump out the window.” The experience gave him a new perspective on his priorities. “I thought, ‘I don’t want to participate in this in any way. And I don’t want to squander any more of my life, of which I have a limited amount’,”

And as a fan of his first three movies, glad can't think of a DC project that would fit his style outside Batman but his take would be too close to Matt Reeves.

Enh too bad, I would've liked for him to do a Calculator origin story in the style of Good Will Hunting.

I thought it was his divorce with Gardner that caused his drinking. He was going through the divorce while filming BvS and Justice League.

I can understand why Affleck would reject directing the Brave and the Bold. Gunn pretty much threw Damian in there before picking any director.

Affleck has been an alcoholic most of his life. It's what caused his break up with J-lo the first time and the divorce with Garner. He's functional, but barely. It's why Matt Damon has had a better career than him.
