Affleck has been an alcoholic most of his life. It's what caused his break up with J-lo the first time and the divorce with Garner. He's functional, but barely. It's why Matt Damon has had a better career than him.
It comes from his relationship with his dad. His dad was an alcoholic and gambling addict.

Back to the DCU. I think that the New Gods film will be revived now that Tom King is back on board.

I saw the new Shazam movie today, and while it wasn't the worst of capeshit it was very, very messy. There are a lot of threads that never get picked up and there is one moment with buildup that gets abruptly cut off that clearly feels like a deleted scene was there. Also weird that the first Shazam was liked for being more down to earth than the usual superhero movies and they proceeded to go full CGI mess with this one.

When being 6'4", offensively handsome and constantly fucking the hottest women alive isn't enough to overcome a shitty childhood.

Happiness is a strange mistress.

I'll give my brief summary of Shazam 2 since I had a couple days to process my thoughts. I enjoyed it much more than Black Adam since the main character goes through further development. Also, how the central plot was tied into something Billy did after the climatic fight in the last movie was a nice touch. The villains are a mixed bag. Lucy Liu's character is one-dimensional while Helen Mirren's has a bit of depth. Much like Thaddeus Sivana, the Daughters of Atlas are mirror opposites of the Shazam Family. Billy is having issues with his siblings, but amends things in the end unlike the Titan sisters. And like @pururun mentioned, there are some character expositions that are revealed but not really followed up.

Apparently Dwayne Johnson was confirmed to be an egomaniac who didn't want any mention of Shazam in his movie and forced the post credits scene to make the DCEU about him and Henry Cavill.

They canceled the Doom Patrol show. Fuck you DC.
And this was right after Fraser got an Oscar, geez.

Affleck had also been in many shit roles. It seems like he had a lot of hand-holding when it came to his scripts and directing.

Doubtful. Ava DuVerney is film/TV poison.

Happy Zachary Levi is sharing this. Imagine being excited to play your character for just a minute in a movie with the Rock. Only for the Rock to want you cut out and have his character fight a superhero whose not even his arch rivel in the comics!

seriously the entire point of Black Adam is he's Evil Shazaptim Marvel
I figured the supes guest shot was more about the studio trying to merge back into a thing rather than Rocky throwing a spaz

The whole thing with Black Adam was The Rock's desperate attempt to make the entire DCEU about himself. He wanted to be the DC Thanos who can never lose to anyone and be the hero at the same time.

Black Adam was the project that really exposed The Rock's ego when you look at it
I think this is going to do even more damage to his career than the Baywatch movie did. When you get a reputation as an unreasonable diva and don't have the hits to back it up, you're gonna have a hard time getting call backs.

I forgot what happened with Baywatch again. It's been a while.

It was his baby, and it tanked. He starred and produced it via his own company, basically funded it all himself. Total vanity project much like BA and he fell flat on his face with it. Luckily he had Jumanji to fall back on at the time.

I didn't realize he produced Baywatch. Sounds like The Rock believes in his own hype

Yeah not to mention he kept hyping up how Baywatch was the funniest movie to ever exist and said shit like this

Black Adam made me realise Johnson is genuinely full of himself and it isn't just an act. I became far more sympathetic towards Vin Diesel's frustration with him on the FnF set - they painted him as a killjoy stopping anyone having fun, when it seems like it was actually the only dude telling Dwayne no.
