Black Adam really revealed a lot about the Rock to me. I never realized how egotistical he was until recently. I can't imagine what his Young Rock series must be like.
Yeah not to mention he kept hyping up how Baywatch was the funniest movie to ever exist and said shit like this

I seen the movie. It's not that funny. Rock your not Mel Brooks calm down.

Funnily enough, the Bay Watch movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. Pamela Anderon's cameo being played as fan service was hysterical though.

Black Adam was the project that really exposed The Rock's ego when you look at it
I'd say it was Fast and Furious but I think everyone kind of gave it a pass because Vin Diesel and Tyrese also seemed like horrible divas so you could never know what to believe. Seems obvious after the past 4 years or so now.

I mean the dude literally made a show where he's a favorite to be president.

iirc Vin Diesel is real enough to barter ownership of Riddick for one of his FF movies, because he's really that much of a nerd that he wants control of Riddick

I find it hilarious how WB/DC blame rock for Shazam 2 flopping hard. We now live in a world where a Puss in boots movies makes more money than Ant-Man 3, Black Adam and Shazam 2. Don't get me wrong. The rock has a lot to blame. The truth is, the superhero movie genre is a fad. All fads die out. The Western genre had a 30-year run before it started to die out. Just being okay, don't cut it anymore. Casual movie audiences are slowly but surely moving away from superhero movies and maybe shared the cinematic universe fad all together. When the Cocaine bear and a hippie Jesus movie knock Antman 3 off the top box office. Capeshit on borrowed time. At most, the rock helps speed along the decline of capeshit.

The biggest thing for me with that movie (yes, I have watched it) was learning that the Rock considers himself not White. There's a line of Zac Efron's (sp?) and the Rock's character replies: "oh, you're just tanned - you don't get to say that". Much to my bemusement at the time. Apparently the Rock has some Hawian in him or something - I don't recall. But to me it's just another illustration of how stupid American idpol is. I've got Spanish friends who are darker than the Rock is. (inb4 an American claims Spanish people aren't White).

Vin Diesal bought himself almost infinite credit with me for one anecdote about him. During the filming of The Chronicles of Riddick he got the cast playing D&D in the evenings. The mental image of Dame Judi Dench rolling a D20 and saying "Have I killed the orc?" in those RSC tones will delight me until the end of time.

To be fair, his dad was black and his mom is Samoan/Pacific Islander. Even with that knowledge, you probably wouldn't have guessed that he's halfrican.

This isn't the 1st time DC shifted blame. They blamed Zack Snyder for their comics doing badly leading to them not having an office anymore & relying on hot-desking, eventhough the issue was the comics being pozzed & woke killing the western comic market, which DC also did.

What I find funny about faith type movies like the hippie Jesus one. I could totally buy someone seeing them instead of capshit movies recently because let's face their more sincere in their presentation than the "wacky isn't this werid and silly folks" wink wink nod nod in the MCU and DCEU where they can't take serious for just a moment. I mean the one I saw before Covid I still believe (done by the same company that did the above) had actually touching and sad scenes in it that actually made me cry and it's not easy to make me cry. People can make fun of them all they want.

Cocaine Bear is a dumb stoner comedy that doesn't feel like homework watching it.

So it really says something when those two movies do better than capeshit.

Apparently Dwayne Johnson was confirmed to be an egomaniac who didn't want any mention of Shazam in his movie and forced the post credits scene to make the DCEU about him and Henry Cavill.

Wow, I didn't know the Rock was such a selfish asshole. Steriods abusing piece of shit.

I think everyone is underestimating the failure of Shazam.

Ant Man was always a C list, b list at best, character. So the fact he got 3 movies, let alone a blockbuster dedicated to him even one that bombed, is incredibly impressive. I don’t think even comic fans cared about him that much.

But Shazam? He was for a time the most popular superhero in the whole world bar none. Yes, really. He outsold both Batman and Superman during the 40‘s and he was an American icon. Marvel was so scared of his success they literally stole the “captain marvel” trademark so DC couldn’t use it.

The fact that DC mismanaged him so badly he is now losing against fucking Ant-man in cultural relevancy just shows how incredibly incompetent Warner Brothers is. Shazam had the potential to be as big of a name as Batman or at least Superman. He should be a big name billion dollar franchise, and kids everywhere should be obsessed with him.

Have you seen Ben 10? Or the whole magical girl genre? Kids love the idea of transforming with magic. It literally prints money,

Instead they wasted Shazam’s best villain for a glorified self insert fanfiction to appease the rock‘s ego and made Shazam fight some old ladies?

It‘s honestly incredible how badly Warner bros wastes all the potential of their I.Ps.

The most surprising thing about Shazam bombing is no one blaming Zachary Levi for it, because he's a CHUD. Or maybe they are and I just haven't seen it.

No I have seen some wokies blaming the movie bombing on him. But the thing is they don't seem to realize capeshit is starting to bomb more lately in general. Maybe if Marvels bomb their get the picture but I doubt it.

Enjoyed Fury of the Gods- just about died laughing at the stinger - but yeah, serious identity crisis really hurt it. I do wonder just how much they were expecting to use Black Adam before Dwayne threw his weight around.

It really shows how Warner Bros. fucked all of this up. They had so many chances at not fucking this up, and they just proceed to fuck it up. There's no direction, and that fad of superhero films is dying. They could have made a lot of money superhero films were popular, but they didn't. And now it's worse because Black Adam and Shazam 2 are now certifiably bombs, Aquaman 2 might likely be and Blue Beetle will definitely be. Regardless of how good these films could be, it's over. No one's that interested anymore.

At least the MCU utilized that opportunity to squeeze money out of people for a good 15 years before seeing the effects of people not caring, and after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is supposed to be the last film of that original team era, it will just go even more downhill from there.

As for Superman: Legacy....I don't have hope in it. I't'll probably end up like Gunn's The Suicide Squad in people wondering how this film is supposed to fit within anything, along with what the purpose of the film even is.

It's annoying how everyone's trying to blame Dwayne "Pearl Harbor" Johnson for Shazam bombing when Shazam looks like crap, had no advertising, and was doomed when they put a baby rapist in charge of their movies and he immediately announced a hard reboot when there were still several movies yet to be released. And what's with all the adult versions of the characters being so old? Why do young teens transform into middle aged people? Shazam looks 48, the other kid turns into that homo from The OC, and even busty-ass Mary used to turn into the mom from Everybody Loves Raymond before they fired her for being MAGA. (Do they explain why she stays the same and the others don't?)

IMO nobody wants to spend good money to watch a kid superhero movie. It'll probably do good on streaming.

Dwayne literally vetoed a bunch of stuff for Shazam because he didn't want Black Adam to play second fiddle. He didn't want Shazam being able to use the Justice League, didn't want any references to BA or BA's allies, etc.

It would have been an undercooked film with this plot, but Johnson practically cut the legs off it so his pet project wouldn't be hurt.
