Is DC marketing strategy intentionally trying to black mail the audience into buying tickets? First, they threaten Micheal Keaton's Batman fans by saying they won't get a Batman beyond movie if the flash flop. Now they are saying you get fewer Latinos in Hollywood if you let the blue beetle flop.
Every single sad, pathetic, jaded leftist will write off Blue Beetle's failure as people who are "sexist, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, etc." and that "nobody cares about muh heckin' representation." This shit is something we've heard of before as we've seen these leftists on Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, tumblr, etc. complaining about how people did not want to see any shitty product mid-2010s onward because of [insert buzzword here]. They complain about this the same way juggalos complain about magnets.

There's no real issue with Superman having super-senses, problem is when DC makes it so that he can hear everything around the WHOLE world. If he can hear shit happening 100 miles away or something, I would not care but they take it to ridiculous levels. It's already ridiculous that Superman isn't patrolling the world 24/7 when he's supposed to be able to go for months if not years without tiring or needing sustenance.
I think it is silly even to superman even to be on united states at all, with all the world in a condition way worse, for him to be at metropolis is really silly, in my headcanon/reboot idea of superman, he would be a backpacker, helping people as he travels.

Of course there are much more about these situations about superman status quo that is more about stabilishing a setting, villains, supporting characters. I always thought that it really limits his scope in favor of a more traditional "needs" like batman, spider-man and so on.

Superman as a concept is way better than the execution in most media.

Superman wants to live a normal life on top of being a hero. Being relegated to a big city and having a focus on Supes' friends and wife is a good way of establishing him as a god that wants to be man.

That is the thing that I dislike the most of it: it revolves around lois.

In my universe/idea, Clark would have siblings, a brother, sister, nephews. He would have hobbies like fucking love trators, to the point where he would be a train autist for trators. The idea that his formative years would shape his interests in adult life (he wouldn't be a farmer per se but would help when needed).

And this is where my bias leaks: I really prefer him to be with Lana than Lois, a girl he mets before becoming superman (I love the idea of Superboy working in a small town), growing up together and having a divide and then reuniting later as adults.

But of course, there must be a drive behind it all: and it is the Kryptonian heritage, I have this whole change to what a kryptonian is and how they went extinct, all related to this biological need to study the universe around them, also tying to Rao and some religious stuff to all kryptonians to be on krypton when it was destroyed.

And of course, earth is just a step in this Voyage, superman would trek later into other worlds to see and get to know other stuff not related to earth. Basically an adventure that goes beyond the limits of a single place. And it is totally against what DC does.

These kind of outer ideas that aren't usual (the closest thing I ever read like this was the Greg Pak DCYou phase, when he was depowered and his identity was leaked. I really liked that run. That everyman look on clark with the shirt was so fucking good

Yeah, Superman as a global hero always made way more sense. Ideally his supporting cast should be people all around the world and even across the galaxy. I remember this being a point of contention on old DC message boards way, way back when people pointed out that DC was obsessed as portraying Superman in the same tier of power as international/intergalactic heroes like Green Lantern or Wonder Woman and yet trying to keep him tied to Metropolis. You just can't have it both ways.

Superman had a pretty great run from Bryne's Man of Steel origin reboot ('86) up until around... I don't know, maybe Infinite Crisis ('05) which is nearly 20 years of stories. Throughout roughly 80% of those stories he was mostly located in Metropolis.

Funniest part is, the Latinos (or "Latinx Community" as they would call it) that Blue Beetle is trying to pander, shill, & even blackmail in the name of, will actually come to the theaters if this actually happened. I'm not even talking about characters coming to life, forget even just cosplaying, just 2 people in Dragon Ball mascot costumes play fighting each other will generate more hype among South Americans than this film.

Dragon Ball is a national level South American phenomenon, that actually surpasses it's original Japanese fandom.

White journalists are demanding Mexicans embrace black Panther-style pandering, woke marketing. Which they are overwhelmingly rejecting. Meanwhile, mucha Lucha, speedy gonzales and nacho Libre are still beloved in the Mexican community. The same white journalists are demanding Mexicans stop liking them because they are racist according to white people.

Mel Gibson made a film that celebrated Hispanic/Latino/Latin American history but white liberals said it was offensive.

Just finished El Tigre, perhaps Mucha Lucha and Apocalypto should go on my list next.

On thread topic it's a shame that it looks like Blue Beetle won't do great but honestly not too surprising. It's not an overly well known property and while the Latino version I suspect is more well known and indeed seems to respect its origin enough that it's popular even with those grumbling about the death of Ted Kord (still) that I would hope the fans go see it.

Instead it looks like DC went "Black People loved Black Panther so clearly-" and once again they failed to copy Marvel's plan.
