Not to go "um actually" but the John Stewart bio was written by TOTALLY REAL BLACK Deadshot, which makes it funnier that he calls him "One of the good ones"
You know how hard they had to resist calling him a coon.

Also, this just makes me think back to that one Green Lantern/Green Arrow panel where some black dude berates Hal because "Yeah, I hear you've been saving pink people, green people and the entire galaxy; BUT WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR BLACK PEOPLE LATELY, HUH?!" and Hal has no response.

My favorite rumor about DC after the flash and blue beetle bomb at the box office. WB badly wanting to get Christian Bale back. He has already said he won't return as Batman unless he gets to work with Christopher Nolan again. I personally wouldn't be shocked if WB tries to get them both for a dark knight 4 if James Gunn Superman reboot flops. Especially after screwing over Michael Keaton and Tim Burton Batman fans.

The one thing I would say about extending the Bale-Nolan batverse is that because of the way the third movie was set SO long after the second and Batman having more or less retired until Bane draws him out, is that there's a lot of room to place another movie or two in between those. I think it would introduce a minor dialogue error or two in the third movie but nothing that should stop this. Frankly, I always disliked the way Batman suddenly went from the end of the second film to this broken down recluse immediately after those events. IF they did more Bale-Nolan movies this is what they should do. Probably would have to do.

But all that said, my reason against this is that we have the Robert Pattinson / Matt Reeves Batman movie which I thought was excellent and very much want to see sequels to. I also really liked the Joker portrayal in the deleted scene and the brief lines from him at the end.

I believe we also got a hint of Bane/Venom in the movie with the weird drug Batman injects himself with. Pattinson was that rarity of someone who is both a good Batman AND a good Bruce Wayne.

Other than the Adam West movie to which it's almost impossible to compare due to being so fundamentally different, I think the Reeves Batman movie is probably my favourite of them all.

While I like Reeve's Batman, it was far too long in the tooth. Catwoman's subplot dragged the film despite the good performances, and I fucking did not care about the Riddle/Joker scene. I always found that while Riddler is screaming about his plan to drown Gotham failing, you could have just had a panning shot to the neighboring cell where a recognizable maniacal laugh is heard over Riddler's screams until the laugh drowns out the screams. Simple 20-30 second scene over a boring 5 minute chat.

Not just that, but also Shaq as Steel
I thought this was a fun fact:

Steel was released in the United States on August 15, 1997, making only $870,068 across 1,260 theaters on its opening weekend.[11] With a second weekend decline of 78%, it achieved the record for having the biggest sophomore weekend drop for any superhero film, being tied with The Marvels.[12]

Only recently has Hollywood been able to equal Steel's cinematic achievements

lol I actually did, but now that you reminded me I actually kinda enjoyed it. or at least didn't think I wasted 2 hours of my life.
It was 80 minutes long, not 2 hours, and yes it was surprisingly not half-bad

2021 was still too early to remake Se7en.

I believe the initial cut was 2 hours long. Warner's came in, did a massive amount of reshoots (Josh Brolin said they did reshot 66 pages of script in 12 days), and released what they had. I'd be interested to see what was initially filmed, because everyone who worked on the movie says the production was a complete shitshow.

Yea, I heard production of it was a complete trainwreck and that director Jimmy Hayward wanted nothing to do with live-action movies afterwards. I honestly can't blame Hayward, the screenwriters nor the actors working on this movie. I'm hoping at some point, WB does end up releasing the original 2-hour director's cut

I am really missing the days when the worst DC could do was the Catwoman movie.
FTFY

Nolan is apparently doing very well at Universal after Oppenheimer, so he has no reason to go back to WB. In hindsight, they shouldn’t have ruined their relationship with him as I doubt he’ll even come back for more Christian Bale Batman.

And Bale is almost 50 now anyway. Nolan’s not a fan of using CGI when it’s not needed so we won’t see a de-aged Bale either.

The Nolanverse was never supposed to be a “universe”, and the constant tendency to try to make one is depressing.

Their time with comic book movies is over. They fucked up their chance to make bank with these films. James Gunn will not save you. It’s over. Move on to Dune or Barbie or whatever the fuck else you have under your slate that’s actually making you money.

I don’t think Jonah Hex is the worse thing they’ve done. I thought Brolin made for a great Hex. But this movie showed that it did have problems.
