Out of curiousity, what parts don't feel grounded to you? Is it the monster men stuff? I took them as the "miracle exception" that every writer gets one of when writing fiction
I'm starting to realize I really only like superheroes as pulp-y vigilantes, and they really only work in the timeframe of 1900-1960's, at the latest. Anything past that and I can't really square the circle of heroes having secret identities in a time period where security cameras, phone tapping and other technology are more widespread. Not gonna spoil it here, but I WAS worried about the cliffhanger ending of issue 1, since it seemed like they'd pull a "he survived because he's the GODDAMN BATMAN", but there was a semi-plausible resolution and explanation to it that I felt was satistfying.
