It’s a massive mistake shoving in nobodies like Mister Terrific, Gay Gardner and the Authority into Superman’s intro film
I don't even want to see these faggots in a justice league movie. really I just don't want anyone in the movie outside of the bad guys, main daily planet cast and his parents or lana/pete or somebody like that to be focused on for more than 5 seconds. I would like something where it feels like the DC world, as in every company product or logo you see is an actual dc thing, kord, queen, wayne, lex whatever. every city mentioned is a dc location, metropolis, central, gotham, etc. not in a LOOK AT ALL THESE EASTER EGGS way, but just a - this is this not the real world they live in. don't stop the movie to point any of this out, it's just what it is.

I don't mind name dropping any of this type of shit in context either, such as a victor stone or guy gardner reference when lombard is talking about his sports column or something, but I don't literally need a bunch of people appearing and cluttering up runtime and character shit that could be dedicated to the main characters for no fuckin' reason besides "we're doing them next". just make it the goddamn dc universe. it's not that hard. if you did want to show a bunch of random scumfucks that could work, but don't make a big deal about it. just have a scene where he has to go to a JLA satellite or hall of justice or something and there's just other people there he says hello to and fucks off from. I'm just sick of these set up movies for characters. I think it's post mcu youtube easter egg retards who think everything means something why we can't have this. you can be self contained and have a bunch of other shit in it without it being a huge deal.

for me, my ideal dc superhero movie if it's not something that exists in a bubble like the dark knight movies, (not that anything worth a fuck was coming out to exist with it anyways) is the type of thing where something like that scene where the Avengers are drinking in age of ultron (without ultron showing up and starting a fight) could happen in the middle of the movie but it's self contained despite the fact there was a bunch of other characters for 2 minutes. it's just their world. superman also has superfriends, but it's his movie so it's about him and his main cast. but the dc universe at large is where it takes place.

the reason I don't want who we are getting at all to have any part in it, is I know that's because of the dceu clusterfuck James Gunn is going to want to do his JLI and I like JLI, but I don't want anymore of these goofy fuckin' self aware comedy superhero movies.

they look like CW costumes. although Mr. Terrific is someone I have always thought the design is too retarded to pull of well in live action, but Superman looks terrible. fucking padding and overdesigned bullshit
I really don’t understand why they’d do the N52 costume, then splice it with the colours of Reeve’s suit and then haphazardly use the KC logo. Really speaks to the quality of the art team.

The KC “S” is meant to be “matured” and less like a human letter, showing that Superman’s attachment to his home is strained, the symbol aged with it’s wearer, slapping it on a young Superman defeats the point, it’s not a hopeful symbol, it’s the badge of the Superman who failed, who couldn’t save the day, who lost Lois and whose values were spat on by humanity.

It’s a mark of shame for the man who wouldn’t kill.

It’s the biggest sign that Gunn is an imposter, who doesn’t give a shit about Clark, he sees the Man of Tomorrow as a vehicle for his gay actor friends and the random obscure characters he likes.

that might be laying it on a little thick, but yeah the core idea is there
that's not a thing to just pull out of your ass while he's hanging out with Captain Negro or whoever DC's latest bad attempt at diversity is

It’s also a sales trick “GUYS COME SEE THIS, KINGDOM COME IS OUR END GOAL!”

Could you imagine a James Gunn-directed KC?

honestly at this point I don't care if they'd look a little goofy I'd have rather they just drug the Dean Cain or Chris Reeve suit out of the closet and just put his ass in tight spandex. fuck it, it's Superman. you got a problem with how goofy his costume is compared to Batman or something in the new DC universe? bet you won't say it to his face. he could punch you into the sun if he wanted from the ground (he wouldn't but still). I liked Cavill's suit fine but really since Superman Returns all the suits have been off. this one is egregiously bad. at this point I don't even care if the suit looks 'cool' which seems to be where they keep fucking up in an attempt to do that. who cares?

I will die on the hill I think Snyder & Cavill would have made a cool Kingdom Come. they did nothing to facilitate it being an eventuality (Snyder's JL 2 & 3 were essentially going to end his DCEU in a way no sequels for anyone were getting made) but I thought after seeing MoS in theaters KC would be a good ending for that Superman. he'd essentially see his younger self in Gog with all the collateral damage and killing and shit and basically be trying to show them how he grew and changed for the better and became the hero he was supposed to be (had he been given the opportunity in different sequels to MoS than what we got) and the new generation would be like you became soft old man fuck you. Snyder visually could have done it. it would have tracked with what Man of Steel gave us in the first place, we just needed someone who wasn't a retard to write it and 10 years of different movies between Man of Steel and that over the mixed bag of assorted garbage we got.

TBF I’d rather he hang out with Mister Terrific, a long-standing African-American character in the comics, than some race swapped Power Girl or something like that

I think the big thing is you can't "set up" for Kingdom Come
it only works as a natural extension of the DC universe after many years, and a lot of that is based in "I'm so fucking tired of it all" level approach to capeshit
after a war of attrition we're getting close enough I guess it could work but even still, you def don't throw it out there at the front of the new thing, kill supes and have him come back with it or something
it's a COULD THIS BE THE LEGENDARY GO TIME thing, not "okay, so we shit the bed a..... yeah we shit the bed again, we need a new bed... again" thing

I'm very glad DC found a guy who isn't Cyborg or John Stewart (who will never show up in movies because of Daily Show) who is also black and not Black Lightning or Bootleg Black Lightning From Static Shock
but seriously "Mister Terrific"?
Captain Nice is glad he's not first in line at the Lame Names Department

also it's not a double-post, it's an echo from Earth-2

I don't disagree with you, I just thought after Man of Steel they easily could have got to Kingdom Come had they done 10ish years of movies in that universe, then did a 10 year time jump and be like this is where it is now. by not facilitating it what I meant was just that they made a bunch of disjointed shit that didn't matter and character wise did nothing for Superman himself so if they had pulled it out of their ass it wouldn't have made any sense at all. but it could have worked just fine. I just think looking at Man of Steel, a version of Kingdom Come would have been a nice bookend for that guy later in life. he'd be watching the next generation repeat the failures of his youth and for him it was ignorance and so he'd try to teach them to change but for them it's intentional so it would lead to the big ending because he'd realize they can't be turned they have to be stopped.

See that’s the thing, “the rise, fall and redemption of Superman” is great cause it’s so simple, the Man of Tomorrow gets old, worn-down and fails.

It’s human, life kicks your shit in and not everyone picks themselves up afterwards, your friends drift away and the world isn’t always a nice place. It sometimes takes seeing the consequences of your mistakes firsthand to snap you out of it, or it takes a kind person with good advice to finally make you understand.

“They won’t forgive you for this Clark. Forgive yourself.”

That’s the best part of KC, is Superman despite being at the apex of his invulnerability is suffering from a very human condition, he lost his way.

Kingdom Come could only be done Watchmen-style as one-off, it’s not an event, or an “Endgame.”
