Authority appears to be a stand in to do a Kingdom Come type story. New heroes who Superman disagree with their actions.
See, using them for KC will only work if their flick ends with them recruiting Magog and with them as side characters in the whole “Rise, Fall and Redemption of Superman” thing that Gunn is doing.

Because unlike the Authority, Magog is a good character and saw the error of his ways. During the final battle he can be seen in the background saving people.

They’re so unrepentant that the only way I’d want to see them is as nuke-fodder, but Gunn wouldn’t do that cause he likes them.
Authority is the kind of team you would forget if Screen Rant and CBR did not remind you of their existence every time they do a queer superheroes list. They are evil psychopaths that go around wearing supersuits in order to fool the public that they are the good guys. Their only good quality is that they kill worse villains and they do it without any charm. Reading their stories is torture.

As for Gaiman I know that article wants to make it seem like Netflix cancelled Dead Boy Detectives over the allegations he's facing but if they really wanted to cut ties with him, they'd also would have cancelled Sandman. Dead Boy Detectives probably didn't get enough views to justify another season.
Netflix does not want to help anyone but their wallets but boy do they virtue signal.

Beginning to wonder if the Joker movies stealth setting up a backup Batman shared universe. The joker writers confirm James Gunn tried to interfere with the film.

I found out we could've had one final arkham game that was gonna have a older bruce wayne and his son Damian, and end on a batman beyond type ending.

I also heard suicide squad was never meant to be live service, and was supposed to include deathstroke as the leader of the squad.

Instead david zaslav doubled down on live service and garbage, and has somehow ruined WB beyond repair.

What's the fucking point lads.

But in other news, I dropped $64 on the entire first half of the question comics, the second collection is another $64, so I'm saving up some extra spending cash to get it and complete my collection, so the week hasn't been entirely shit.

Fake news, it was never an Arkham game and Bruce Wayne wasn't in it, he was replaced by an older Dick Grayson. Gameplay-wise it was pretty much the same shit that Gotham Knights ended up being.

A couple months ago I got curious about the writer for the new Plastic Man mini-series and when I looked him up on Google I saw this:

It's really funny that the 1st thing I found when I looked up Christopher Cantwell was a Nazi instead of a comic book writer.

Listen considering the shitshow that was suicide squad was awful.

Gotham knights was better than suicide squad, even if it's still a looter shooter.

But that's me coping because I just want one more arkham game

Yeah, me too. Best we're getting is that gay VR meme shit.

New flop from DC, apparently looking to track below Flash:

word on the street is the budget was 3-4 times higher than the first

how the fuck does that happen, i get You gotta pay lady gaga and Joacquin wanted a bigger bag given he won an oscar, but how does that blow out a budget to 3 times greater than the first, its not like theresd massive expensive cgi set pieces

Budget is $200 million, think it could have done really well if they didn't make it a musical. Musicals are already a hard sell for people, and got to be even harder for the crowd who enjoyed the first one of these.

Bit of a break down of the budget
And this is one splashy renovation. The budget for Todd Phillips’ musical “Joker” sequel — one of De Luca and Abdy’s first green lights — has ballooned to about $200 million, a significant bump from the $60 million cost of the first film. Sources say Joaquin Phoenix is getting $20 million to reprise his role as the clown prince of crime, while Lady Gaga is taking home about $12 million to play Harley Quinn.
And Todd Philips will have got a huge pay jump as well. So least $50 million of the budget will be going to three people.

As jarring as it is, God did they ever knock it out of the park with Scarecrow's redesign. Getting Jeffrey Combs to voice him for the season was great too.
As a kid I loved the new adventures art design wayyyy more then the original. I appreciate the og more now but Im still fond of how darkly fantastical everything is. A lot of people seem to hate the joker design too but I rather enjoyed it.

I bet half James Gunn DC projects get cancelled. Even his Hal Jordan casting looks awful.
Im going to be contraryian and say I think it's inspired casting. However Im wondering if I'm going to get sick of seeing marvel actors in DC stuff

The new VR Arkham Batman game actually looks pretty rad. It's the same length as the first one ( they said they copied the formula for everything you can do), let's you beat the shit out of people and has an interesting villain line up. (Lockup, rat catcher, Dr Harley Quinn and her "rehabilitated" patients like ventriloquist)

I appreciate how the ratcatcher goons look like antifa

We get young angry batman back, that's the only good thing.
I did miss chris redfield batman quite a bit actually. I would say he's the other best voice actor for batman other then the caped crusader version.

So how is the penguin? All I know is ign gave it a 5 and people are shitting on em.

I hear it's actually really good, ign being ign like always, giving good stuff low scores because it's not brain rot.

Is this the right thread to talk about the Watchmen Chapter 1 movie? That's DC right?

I have opinions.
While it's not DC, I don't see an issue with a small discussion about it

Kite Man season 1 ended yesterday. No strong feelings about it, seems like the only people on /co/ who posted about it were shills.
I had a whole thread on the Harley Quinn series here https://kiwifarms.st/threads/harley-quinn-dc-universe-series.63617/ and it covers the Kite Man character a fair bit.

In Harley Quin he is undoubtedly the most likeable character. Well, maybe Dr. Psycho as a contender but Kite Man is the only one who is likeable AND decent. He has this long two-season arc with Poison Ivy that is actually quite nice and is also good for Ivy. Up until they suddenly and without warning, turn Ivy and Harley into a couple. Harley having actively worked to break Kite Man and Ivy up including deliberately getting Ivy off-her-face drunk and sleeping with her days before her wedding. The show is fucking horrible to Kite Man and completely gives a pass to the Harley and Ivy for what they do to him. The Kite Man show was a possible chance to revisit the early Harley Quin cartoon and treat him more favourably. But they don't. They immediately give him a love-interest who is, of course, far more powerful and competent than he is, because: female. And later in the season, when all else has failed to make him the villain, they literally make him the villain by altering his personality.

Nobody should touch that show. Its humour is a low-brow mix of Rick and Morty level gore (oh look, gratuitous brain matter, we're soooooo edgy) and dubious political references. Seriously - they make a Brexit joke. In 2024. This show was cancelled 10 episodes too late into its 10 episode run. There is nobody on God's Earth who should watch this show.

They try to make Kite-Man, whose entire deal in these shows is being the most milk-toast non-toxic dude, the bad guy? Now I'm actually curious. Does he just go full incel or something?
My biggest gripe with modern batman is that they focus too much on the dark edgy shit.

Do people just forget that batman truly wants to rehabilitate his foes? Hell one of the most famous comics, the killing joke, batman basically begs joker to stop and let him help him, and joker for once, breaks his character and somberly says it's too late for him.

God it's almost like the joker himself, despite all his insanity, is still a tragic character at heart, and had a very bad day!!!

It's almost like he's the polar opposite of batman, and wants to show batman he's as crazy as he is.

Yes I'm drunk, I'm at a bar reading the long halloween right now.

Seeing how batman used to treat his villains makes me upset that they forgot a core part of why batman is so popular.

It's not the badass villains, it's not the cool judo, it's the fact that batman is a good man doing the best he can.

Every villain is tragic, they tried to fit in and society spat them out.

Alright rant over, or I won't ever stop typing
On that note, for all of Batman Forever's flaws, I did sort of like what they were trying to do with Bruce, though the Doctor Bat Thot shit was fucking dumb. His speech to Dick about how killing the Joker fucked him up more than he thought it would, his fears that he's not doing enough to save people like Harvey Dent, and that final line of his arc "You see, I'm both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Not because I have to be, but because I choose to be.".
