This is funny to.. someone. Maybe?

That's what they think masculinity is.

It's like they tried to Bully Maguire him, without realising what makes people love Bully Maguire.

How bad is it that there show isn't even ironically funny? I watched this shit and every time they have good moments its as if they just forgot for a second they worked for literally satan.

Also, big hate for what these fucks did to Darkseid.

They made him into a trump joke iirc >:(

word on the street is the budget was 3-4 times higher than the first

how the fuck does that happen, i get You gotta pay lady gaga and Joacquin wanted a bigger bag given he won an oscar, but how does that blow out a budget to 3 times greater than the first, its not like theresd massive expensive cgi set pieces
Money laundering, blood in the water.

WB, in addition to comical incompetence is being soft-liquidated by those in the know to siphon as much coin off the Titanic as possible before she dips below the waves.

Listen considering the shitshow that was suicide squad was awful.

Gotham knights was better than suicide squad, even if it's still a looter shooter.

But that's me coping because I just want one more arkham game
Arkham Knight was barely an Arkham game. It was a good game, even a good Batman game, but it did not fit with what came before it.

It was the Arkham game nobody wanted.

After Origins we all wanted the open city, with people walking about and the Batfamily integrated into the plot.

Drone War for Cybertron battles? Nobody wanted that.

its crazy how such a high percentage of the game revolves around it too, especially when the combat is so piss poor, your gun auto hits every time. even for those huge "boss tanks" it would be one thing if you could customize it or anything but its auto hit and invincible and just makes the game shitty.

the graphics were amazing and everyone was saying they'd pay for remasters of the previous games in that level of quality even though even Asylum at launch is leagues ahead of most games coming out in the current year.
Lanterns is going to be the Parallax story.
its a neat story and probably the thing most remembered about Hal in the current era, but they always had it out for him. he was like the DC's Tony Stark. a "hero" that people hated writing. its why he's mostly painted as the bad guy when he teamed up with John or Oliver. I always thought a Lanterns story should be focused more on Kyle and John as his mentor. Have Kyle be the hero who defeats Hal/Parallax by some cartoony thing no other lantern would have thought of and Lanterns is about rebuilding with a normal Hal trying for redemption and Kyle still learning his powers and John trying to be a good leader and you could have b and c plots for the other lanterns.
I found out we could've had one final arkham game that was gonna have a older bruce wayne and his son Damian, and end on a batman beyond type ending.
I don't believe that, they had a decade between Knight and their latest goyslop, if they could have released another good game they would have. Its like how LOTR just stopped after two games with the Nemesis system
gay VR meme shit.
I'm just amazed how they translated everything from the Arkham games into VR, the last time it felt like a shitty showcase and they never figured out walking. For them to release such a movement heavy game on VR means either it will be an iconic shitshow or the greatest game they ever made for VR.
I have a feeling James Gunn will get #MEtoo by women before the Superman reboot movie comes out
Jimmy is a bit like Dan Harmon, because the first MeToo didn't hit now its social double jeopardy so he can rape as much as he wants. As long as Jimmy doesn't do some "come to jesus" shit like Russell Brand he can be as crazy as he wants to be. Plus most of the stuff Gunn was canceled for was from an era when it was cool and funny to write stuff about having sex with teenage boys. People were even doing it on Blocklands. And just like the Blocklands boy, i'm sure Gunn openly hates that people bring up stuff he wrote a dozen years ago as a way to smear him today. Both him and Mr.Blocklands have been nothing but great the past half decade, and thats good enough for me and presumably most of this website's userbase

Don’t care, Gunn is still one of them and deserves to be dealt with accordingly. Plus he’s tarnishing Superman for the diversity murder squad, so he can fall in the same ditch as Snyder. They’re the same hack as far as I’m concerned.

Btw, Triangle Era Superman omni is starting to ship out, for anyone that’s interested

the one thing I will say about kite man is I liked it was sort of a stealth bane show he had a b plot in every episode. and I think their take on bane is actually pretty funny, he was the thing I liked about Harley Quinn's show too. I mean he isn't bane, (not that anyone in those two shows actually are whoever they're supposed to be) but him being a half retarded softie makes me laugh. the problem is he's too annoying to carry his own spin off show, it gets old fast, but he works as a b plot character that you can slot in any situation because he's pretty undefined besides he's a pussy basically.

my problem with both of those shows basically comes down to how they have no identity or consistency because of the type of random humor with no real logic they are. they try to have like actual overarching plots but why would you care when the world is just insane and the characters change personalities scene to scene. It's like if you tried to have season long arcs in family guy or something it just doesn't work.

Iirc there was attempt at soft arcs a few years ago the last time I seriously sat down and watched Family Guy. I guess they gave up on them which was for the best
that actually doesn't surprise me I don't think I've seen a new episode since like 2012 or something. I'm not really a fan of adult animated tv sitcoms in general so I'm always baffled they're still on in the first place. all in all I personally did not totally hate kite man, there was enough goofy bane shit for me to get something out of it, but I'm never going to watch it again.

I think another one of my problems with both it and Harley Quinn is I have no idea why they insist on doing so much relationship drama. I'm there to watch a spoof set in a retarded version of the dc universe, not girl boss lesbians or kite man and glider making kissy faces at each other. I typically think some of their versions of characters are pretty funny but you never get any time with any of them because the scenes stop for the toxic relationships of unlikable people.

It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't obviously expect you to care about that shit. The last season was just Ivy being a bitch. I don't want to watch snarky women who think they're better than everyone else who the writers obviously agree with. I was more interested when joker just had a random wife he seemed to get along with because it wasn't just people being shitty to each other.

Problem is it's skipping. There's a huge gap between Byrne and Triangle.

Why can't they just collect the books normally?

technically MAD is DC so this is as good a place as any

I've been thinking a bunch about how Spy VS Spy this current hubbub about Islam pagers is and how I might shoop up a modern fake, and trying to conceptualize how to do it in the wordless style of Prohias has given me a much greater appreciation for his cartooning ability, even if a lot of it is choosing your battles better

I don't understand why they're skipping the year or so between exile and this book. I'm glad to get it at all, but what the fuck. I wonder how far they'll go with this line. the triangle era is kind of weird because there's a lot of spin offs and shit too, and the numbering eventually stopped and then came back.

when I was in high school I used to download comic scans off 4shared in the computer lab and fill binders with them printed in black and white and I swear I probably had 20 fucking binders with superman from post crisis to around infinite crisis. I used to sell them to fellow nerds too I remember my knightfall and infinity gauntlet/war makeshift books were pretty popular. I got banned from the computer lab permanently for using like 15,000 pages over a year to make bootlegs and sell them lmao.

those scans you could find back then looked like total shit and in black and white looked worse. iirc my superman scans were from the Superman Post Crisis Chronology project so that was a cool way to read it because it was like literally everything including the superfamily and jla and crossovers and shit but those were disjointed as fuck because the guy who made it autisticly broke up individual issues so sometimes you'd have like 3 pages of one book in the middle of another, cool project, good idea but the execution left something to be desired as a reading experience. you don't have to break up man of steel with for all seasons, just put them next to each other I can figure out when what happened.

Superman has like four or five origin stories from 1986-2011, in a case like this I would leave out the later retellings. Look at Batman and there's like three divergent direct followups to Miller/Mazuchelli Year One. Robin's origin is almost a Choose Your Own Adventure by 2012 and worse now since nothing matters in comics now.

The more I read old DC I really like how before Crisis on Infinite Earths, time almost passed normally on Earth One unless you are a Teen Titan. After Crisis it kind of slid around (how many 20th birthdays is Nightwing really going to have?) but there was some real adventuresome bold choices editorially from 1986-1990, you had Mike Grell Green Arrow, Justice League International, Perez Wonder Woman, the start of Sandman and all sorts of non-DCU miniseries and even some original graphic novels. I think when Time bought Warner, DC then had overlords telling them to dial it back. So they started Vertigo and moved Sandman and other original properties there, Green Arrow and WW turned into dumb cape shit, JLI tried to Marvelize and lost all its charm after Geffen & DeMatteis, we start seeing crossovers that are fuelled entirely (rather than partly) by sales/merchandising and of course Zero Hour comes along and makes everyone know that nothing really matters in comics, Dick will always be 19 and a half.

I will say Superman was pretty good for what I read up until his wedding. Except how the whole thing was handicapped because John Byrne hated Superboy but loved Kirby's Fourth World. It's very dumb reading the Man of Steel miniseries then afterwards he's back in Metropolis and friends with every other superhero EXCEPT Batman, everyone on Earth knows about Kryptonite, but still Clark is fresh and new at the Daily Planet as his specific milieu is rebooted. Wonder Woman did it better by being a hard reset which only left open some questions about the history of Justice League and wtf Donna Troy. (Which kind of did go onto fuck up Black Canary and Wonder Girl but they're more of collateral damage.)

Anyway I would have killed for some photocopy binders of all the Superman stories. Shit I should have done that at my local college back when they didn't make you pay to print. I was printing dozens of pages of academic research when some eco-bitch hassled me. I would have loved seeing her face as I printed thousands of pages of Superman comics.

This post has been brought to you by the fine people at Evan Williams distillery and DC Comics

the one nice thing about the chronology project, is that the later origins were placed as the first stories directly after whatever universe shattering event they'd become canon following. I think whoever guy making it still does it because I googled it once in recent years and there was the whole new 52 up to rebirth also and it was like 600 little mini volumes, it was like 300 when I found it..

but yeah that era of dc right before and post crisis to like 95 is probably my favorite era of mainstream comics. There was a lot of throwing shit at the wall and not all of it worked but it was interesting at least.

I had a whole operation I'd go in there during lunch and study hall and just print shit for a couple hours a day. I wish I had kept more of them. I gave them away or threw them away when I bought real copies or whatever. The only ones I still have are my dragon ball ones because whatever sketchy website I downloaded those would switch sometimes mid volume from scans of Viz's translations to these insane fan translations where Vegeta would call people fags and goku would say fuck you to frieza and stuff lmao I don't think I have the whole series still but I had all 40 odd volumes printed and shoved into 4 giant binders on my high schools dime
