from what i read on wikipedia it was some niche feature in DC's military line, people forget DC has a huge line of military comics that they don't typically have intersect with the rest of their superheros. That group is from a particularly inspired run post-vietnam because suddenly DC didn't have a war to base their conflict from so they decided to go all supernatural.

Its basically an excuse for Gunn to ape GOTG again, which honestly is him aping his writing style from The Specials days, which you could easily call out for being Troma inspired. have a bunch of freaks (not hard to find when you cast for troma) who's eccentric nature somehow helps them defeat the even more freaky opponent they're up against but not before some of them are gruesomely murdered in enjoyable ways to pander to their August Underground-esque audience.

Only instead of for example Racist Stereotypes vs reincarnated savage native americans in chicken bodies. its Guardians of the galaxy, the Suicide Squad creature commandos!

It’s fascinating how little he truly understands his creation, how divorced truly he is from “real people” unable to understand why we like the scrappy little guy, who while extreme and autistic, is unambiguously the only good person in the narrative, who looked at the bullshit the others were going along with and took a stand.

She was fine as an independent character originally, up until the recent animated show turned her into an angry oblong with a crush on Harley Quinn (who is now a Chinese oblong). At this point, it's safe to say the rumors of James Gunn and David Zaslav trying to sabotage Matt Reeve's Batman movie universe are all but confirmed by the amount of damage control coming from industry journalists. Considering, DC made not one but two watchmen sequels that, already politically more dated than the original watchmen from the 80s. I can believe the 4chan leaks James Gunn DCU plans is him bitching and crying over Trump. The penguin is the only thing DC has made in the last five years that was successful outside of The Batman. Peacemaker didn't even see half the organic success as the penguin.

I'm looking a little less forward to Creature Commandos now that I know it has this Harley Quinn-esq moment in it. When did Gunn decide to start going full Jew-handmaiden in his works? Peacemaker is already a mixed bag for me because while I adore Peacemaker as a character it had some of the most cringe attempts at putting the white man in his place I've ever seen. Definitely not doing himself any favors with this kind of nonsense.
 
Creature Commandos is... Okay, I guess, so far. Of course they're clearly going to go with the "MAGA types are Nazis" garbage, and I don't know why the show pretends that Dr. Phosphorus isn't absolutely a human.

Was glad to see Peacemaker with his original design.

Also, I am done with DC media so long as Gunn is at the helm. I've seen the scenario of a less talented person with seniority trying to crush a junior person outshining them too many times in too many industries.

While I understand everyone in this thread raking Gunn over the coals for being a faggot and rightfully so in many regards (like how he's throwing the baby out with the bathwater right now), I'd also like to thank Todd Phillips for being quite possibly an even bigger faggot who came up with the worst ideas for a Joker sequel and refused to listen to any outside criticism regarding the many, many, many shitty ideas in his movie.

You’d think they would’ve done the barest fucking amount of research as to the last time he was told to make a sequel when he didn’t want to. Joker 2 was torching the franchise and running away with the money, good on Todd for fucking over WB, pissing off the people who took the original way too seriously and muddying that bitch Gaga’s career. He did nothing wrong.

Remember Hangover 3? He pulled that again, with the same studio I believe.
