Movie looks like cheap CW trash, but the zoomies and middle-aged bugmen are cooming themselves over it so I guess it's going to make Barbie bank pretty easily.

WTF is a "hopeful" Superman anyway? People slinging shit at Snyder when Man of Steel was a pretty dope movie aside from the colorless filter and goofy flashback scenes with Pa "Kill 'em all" Kent.

It's everything they complained about Snyder doing but with a kooky and random Marvel sheen. "Cavill's too old!" So they hire a guy only slightly younger. "There are too many characters, we want a Superman movie!" Fills it with 150 superheroes and a fucking superdog.

Also why they fuck are their so many fucking characters unrelated to Superman in this movie… Gunn, you faggot, you could’ve at least used unknown “SUPERMAN” characters. Also Guy Gardener isn’t a unknown, I don’t give a fuck if normie faggots don’t know who The Warrior is, but he shouldn’t be in this movie.

1000% not looking forward to this and doubt I will see it unless it’s like Joker 1, where it is actually shockingly good…. Seriously why design him off that awful New 52 look fucking seriously man.

The fact he had to get Krypto to drag his ass back home makes Gunns Superman look pathetic.

Maybe it's just a bad first trailer, Transformers One had a shit first trailer, and that was one of the best animated film of the year.

Yet unlike James Gunn. Zack Snyder kept his politics out of his movies and shows. There are some in Army of the dead yet the plot was still focused on the zombies. His rebel moon movies are just edgy Star Wars with rape and characters saying fuck. Oddly every bisexual character a psychopath if not a outright rapist.

Seeing how already bloated the budget of James Gunn's Superman is. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a reverse Transformers one when the movie comes out.

I get your point, but I think Snyder was guilty of something almost as bad: warping characters to fit his worldview instead of letting the characters be true to themselves. People oversimplify this criticism, reducing it to audiences not being willing to embrace his thought-provoking, adult films. In reality the tone was not that bad, but the characters absolutely were.

His Superman was anything but hopeful and inspiring, and while Batman was visually stunning, he was massively out of character. Snyder's Batman is a killer, and his Superman is a unrecognisable. Admittedly, Gunn is guilty of muddying the waters with obnoxious woke elements, so I’m not defending him. But Snyder wasn’t a saint when it came to respecting the source material either. Both are perfectly willing to throw their conservative fans under the bus if it suits them.

The point is, I’m not defending Gunn. I’ll side with whoever makes good movies. Snyder failed in my eyes, and Gunn has yet to prove himself when it comes to DC.

I'm technically the other side of the coin here since I did like Snyder's "trilogy" since I can argue that Michael Keaton's Batman is also a killer yet no one gave a fuck back in the 80's and he is still fondly remembered. HOWEVER I do agree with you that I just want a good Superman movie, I still huff the copium that a good DC universe will somehow rise from the ashes and be a good competitor to the MCU, I personally like DC more than MARVEL and seeing DC keep struggling to make something good while Marvel already made a good saga and even if they never get another hit from now on they can still say they have the "Infinity Saga". and that does make me seethe.
So yes if the Gunnverse somehow turns out to be good and finally makes marvel shit their pants as they now have a worthy opponent I'll be happy.
And if the "Gunnverse" turns out to be crap, then I just hope it bombs so hard it kills capeshit forever (or at least relegates it to straight to streaming films) 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

I just get sick at the idea of Gunn “adapting” the stories I like.

KC in particular, the audacity of a man shilling characters like the Authority, Peacemaker or Creature Commandos while seemingly building to Kingdom Come is telling of how much this retard actually gets the source material.

Those types of characters are poison and damaging to the medium, boomer take but I stand by it.

I think the difference is that Keaton at least killed his named Rogues. Like he killed the Joker, and it wasn't made as a big deal.

Ben Affleck's Batman tries to emphasize how he's a hardened killer yet all his kills are bit rate thugs meanwhile we have the Joker still alive and well, when it's heavily implied Jared Leto Joker killed Jason Todd.

Snyder is fairly conservative himself on some points. I mean he is an Objectivist, albeit in the same way that Terry Goodkind was where it leads to some truly hilarious moral outcomes in the movies he makes.

Not even Jason, I remember reading somewhere that the Robin that Joker killed was Dick Grayson. If anything, killing Bruce's equivalent of his favored son should have earned Joker a one-way trip to hell.

Soon as penguin season 2 was confirmed. Multiple movie access media websites dropped the same articles about gas-lighting Matt Reeves for wanting to keep his Batman separate from James Gunn's DCU reboot universe. Nothing suspicious about the timing at all. It's clear James Gunn hates Matt Reeves, but the Batman universe is too successful to cancel.

This has the same energy as those weird Star Wars fans who act like Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are in a secret civil war with Kathleen Kennedy.

Absolutely. They are a low hanging fruit. Still I would argue Snyder used them to send a message. He is disavowning them and their side explicitly. His "there's no room for hate" made that perfectly clear. Conservative, anti-SJW fans have always have been labeled as hateful despite having some legitimate concerns.

That being said, Gunn was far more cringe by making MAGA voters, and the CD, as the villains in his animated show.
