Can we finally put the superhero genre 6 feet in the ground?
Journalists spinning Superman taking all summer to reach $600 million as a win when its budget was probably close around $300 million, without counting marketing. Weapons was a more profitable movie for WB than Superman.
All I've heard about Peacemaker is people on twitter getting pissy that people aren't calling the fat black actress hot.
How do you hear that and not the gay orgy scene everyone is complaining about? The orgy is definitely worse given this show follows up kid friendly Superman.

Yeah but Snyder’s Justice League shows up at the end of Peacemaker season 1, and Gunn was like “uhh yeah sure still Snyderverse I guess” because he’s too busy to retcon anything.
By my count it's only two times this has happened but I'm already sick of this "adult cartoon"-ification of superhero media where they really think superheroes being actually le bad and edgy and having graphic orgies is the pinnacle of wit.

I have no desire to watch that show and wont be. But am I to understand that in the Superman movie, it promotes (because Peacemaker appears in it) a show with gay orgies in it? Are they seriously trying to use a kid's movie to promote TV shows with gay orgies in it? They know the Superman movie is a kid's movie, right?

Reminds me of when Arrow introduced their version of the Suicide Squad, but when the Suicide Squad movie was in production, they had to kill off Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and Amanda Waller in addition to only calling them the Ghost Initiative.

I'm probably wrong but I blame The Boys for the cancellation of the far superior The Tick. The latter was also a show about the realities of superheroes and not all of them quite being the image they were supposed to have, sinister organisations behind them, etc. But it also had Jackie Earle Haley devouring the scenery like it's made out of candy and Peter Sterefanowcannotspellthis striding about uttering insane platitudes whilst back-handing hoodlums into walls. But it got cancelled in Season 2. The Boys came out around the time that Season 3 of The Tick got cancelled. Both Amazon shows with a similar premise.
I wouldn't be surprised. Amazon pretty much sabotaged The Tick by having the release schedules be absolutely bonkers. It has similar beats to all of those "serious" superhero stories, but knew to not take itself too seriously. The Terror was an amazing villain, and his plans were insane but had a method in their madness:

If Marvel or DC were to randomly approach me to make an Avengers or a Justice League film, I would make a film where all the superheroes get killed off without any bullshit magical mcguffin device to bring them back.
