And there I am just sitting here enjoying S2 of Peacemaker.
It's something entertaining to watch in bed on Saturday morning.

New Peacemaker episode spoilers/plot speculation.
Don't think there was a single non-white in the dimension in Chris's closet. Maybe I missed one idk, there's a very high chance that the upcoming plot twist is that this is a Nazi dimension. James Gunn already put the Nazi fighting robot in Creature Commandos so fighting Nazis is kind of the thing at the moment. Even the terrorists Chris fought against were all white. And maybe they will be the main villains of the season. But James Gunn already did the "the people who we thought were the bad guys were actually freedom fighters" plot twist in The Suicide Squad. So there is a high chance that will happen again too.

There may have been one in the crowd when he’s riding the PeaceCycle down the road, but I’m not gonna go back and check. I’m gonna call it now, the other dimension is(terrorists aside) a utopia but it’s revealed they don’t have any heckin’ brownerinos, and the final episode is going to be Peacemaker and friends mowing down a bunch of civilians and normal people(but it’s okay because they’re racist!)

"Man kills his alternate self and takes his place in the alternate selfs dimension" and "man finds himself trapped in another dimension that seems cool at first, but the guy who he thought was cool turns out to be a Nazi in a world run by Nazis" were both Rick and Morty plotlines. All anyone knows how to make anymore is Rick and Morty. I hope to be proven wrong and another less stupid plot happens in Peacemaker but if Nazi world happens I want it on record that I called it.

i've been dying to talk about this, because if Peacemaker was made a decade or two ago, the twist wouldn't have been as obvious. but because of the DEI stuff almost everyone watching figured out the "twist" immediately, meaning the rest of the season is going to be fucking meaningless.

you'd be shocked at the ratings on streaming shows, it will be considered a-ok because this is such a niche product.

It is sort of crazy how no one in entertainment has the balls to call that shit out for what it is though, imagine something like that nazi killing robot, only you show him murdering Shane Gillis fans instead and have your anti-heroes go "if you like Shane Gillis you are just as evil as the nazis in the 1930s and deserve to die"

i've been dying to talk about this, because if Peacemaker was made a decade or two ago, the twist wouldn't have been as obvious. but because of the DEI stuff almost everyone watching figured out the "twist" immediately, meaning the rest of the season is going to be fucking meaningless.

In the last few years it's been done repeatedly. The season before last Doctor Who did it in the Zoom call world where everyone was white and the big reveal was- they're racist. The finale to the last season was a super traditionalist evil utopia world - they couldn't do it with everyone being white because the Doctor is Rwandan and his companion Indian, so they went with straight/cis/able-bodied, but they absolutely would have added skin colour if their dei casting hadn't closed that door to them. 28 Years Later, has a pretty much all white cast living a traditionalist life on the fortified island, which Boyle has outright said is to represent Brexiteers, and show us how awful non-diverse life is.

The most interesting thing about any of this, is how all at the same time, Russell T Davies, Danny Boyle and James Gunn all came up with pretty much the same premise.

to be fair, the premise is one constant in western media, look at fucking Star Trek. the difference i guess is how much people hate it now, like i guess audiences are smarter than when they did it in the 20th century where just going "they're nazies and therefore evil" its just more groan inducing now because its so easy to spot.

like when peep show and community did it, it was a fun joke, an absurd punchline on par with necrophilia but now it feels like they're rubbing people's noses in it, and especially with the sort of news we're seeing its just leaving a bad taste in everyone's mouths.

i'm just amazed how the show is going to act like its a big reveal when everyone watched spotted it immediately, especially when Westworld's writers completely rewrote a season after they realized people would figure out the big twist within the first couple episodes and they cited how it would annoy viewers and turn the season into a chore.

Did Star Trek do an episode where we see an all white cast, with the deliberate premise being that they are all white in order to showcase racism, as a secret twist? It's been decades since I've watched it, but I remember the Nazi world, just being obviously that. In DW it's overt and set up to be a twist. Peacemaker certainly appears to be heading in the exact same way. 28 Years Later was a little more subtle and you wouldn't be sure of it, other than Danny Boyle really wanted everyone to know how 'clever' and political he was being, so made sure to talk about it a lot during publicity.

Because the evil witch who wanted to kill the princess turned out to be doing it because she knew the princess was going to become a supervillain and conquer the world. It was this thing of "the witch is the bad guy", then "no, the princess is the bad guy", then "no, the witch was lying, she was always the bad guy" and eventually "no, the princess framed the witch, the princess was always the bad guy." And then the Creature Commandos (who are working for the US government) kill a foreign head of state in cold blood and everyone ends up happy.

From what I got, people liked Creature Commandos for the characters, not the script. For me, it was such a bad twist that it tainted the whole thing. Also, I did not like many characters either.

Not saying that all of them sucked, just many. The Bride confused swearing with whit and was made into an uber feminist. Frankenstein was made into a murderous stalker as opposed to the hero he was in Seven Soldiers. The princess is just a twist villain without the sympathy or pizzazz. Overall, the main characters we are supposed to like sucked.
