Even the fucking technology would develop a lot differently.
Like we wouldn't really need to invent welding, we would just hire the people who can weld with their eyes.

I always consider that I overthink this shit when I go on these tangents but it's more that writers like Gunn underthink it.

Half the mainstream normie memes on Facebook and Instagram are either making fun of how ugly James Gunn Supergirl is or picking hotter actress for supergirl.
 
Just rewatched The Dark Knight returns part 2 again and damn if it doesn't still feel relevant. I truly wish something of the same caliber was on the horizon (I'm not holding out hope the Patterson sequel turns out). I pray they never try a live action adaptation, cause they'll just fuck it up HORRIBLY.
 
The Knightfall animated movie is previewing soon and comes out in June. All I know is they are using the proper logo that was on comics at the time. If the first part is 'Vengeance of Bane' intercut with 'Sword of Azrael', that would make a perfect part 1, ending with Bane on the way to Gotham. They'll probably skip to big breakout though.

that logo has me irrationally excited but I think no matter what it'll let me down, I'm really holding out hope it actually looks like a 1990s comic. It's a trilogy right? I don't know that you could adapt all of that in 3 movies. even if you cut the one and done little mini arcs within an arc in it, there's a lot of ground to cover.
 
Been watching the classic Animated series of the 90s. For the most part, they're good, with some exceptions such as the Batman sequel of the 90s which sucked and made things edgier for no reason. Superman TAS is better than pretty much all movies about him, and it's still the case, sadly. Just grabbing a bunch of episodes could be adapted into at least a decent live-action movie, but modern writers can't even do that.

I actually searched out this thread to say that somebody on the internet said that she looked like the boomerang kid from mad Max and I haven't been able to stop randomly picturing it and laughing my ass off for 2 days.
Even if I was interested in seeing a paedophile Gunn movie, I wouldn't be able to sit through that movie without cracking up thinking about the boomerang kid now.

Sydney Sweeney could release a 4 hour long movie where it's just a static shot of her in a Supergirl themed bra and panties, and she could just stare into the camera and drink beers, burp and drunkenly ramble about how she's Supergirl.
It would literally be the cheapest movie ever made, shot in one day with a skeleton crew, and I guarantee you it would gross more than half the shit the MCU and DCU has put out.
She could be in the worst movie ever and pull out one titty for 5 seconds of a scene and it would be a guaranteed 10 million at the box office.

I wouldn't go that far, I just think the woman has an unfortunate face. Besides, if she was a troon Hollywood would be crowing from the hilltops about how stunning and brave the Supergirl casting decision is.
I think she's from the Bella Ramsey school of "How I got casted" because I look at Bella Ramsey and I say to myself she looks like someone painted a very small face on a large hard boiled egg, how the FUCK is she an actress?
Then I realized oh yeah they casted ugly looking people and midgets to be in that faggy dragon show and HBO probably doesn't have to pay her a lot to get her to keep coming back to the shows they want her in.

One of my favorite funny moments the woke era of American comics is the time DC comic did a feminist reboot of Amethyst that retcons her origin story from discovering she a princess from a fantasy world that becomes a warrior and hero to almost being gang raped in New 52.

I have mainly seen this shitfest. One moment he’s an ancient Egyptian kang, the next he’s a space cop. People just slapped the name Hawkman onto random bullshit at the last minute and they piled up. Not sure what is worth reading at this point. I might just say fuck it and pick up the original Flash Comics.

Hawkman is a reincarnated Egyptian prince who remembers all his lives/incarnations, including the alien cop. I would recommend the Geoff Johns run, including his modern reintroduction in Johns' JSA.

I'm probably the only person who would call themselves if someone asked a Hawkman fan with this opinion but I'm a Hawkworld era space cop truther when it comes to the character and absolutely loathe the og incarnation. Ive never read a single Hawkman story that didnt suck involving the reincarnated Carter Hall version. In theory, it shouldn't suck but in practice, it always does.

The only Hawkman runs I've ever liked were the fun Silver Age stuff and the Hawkworld miniseries and it's sequel ongoing. I've liked the og version in the majority of JSA stuff out there, I guess they've just never had the right story for me. I've always thought you could pretty much just film Hawkworld as is and it would be a kick ass movie. Reading you describe it as Indiana Jones Highlander made me go "hmmm, yeah it is. Why the fuck DON'T I like it?" I dont believe ive ever read the golden age stuff though but I imagine I'd probably love that early stuff.

The intellectual choice is Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law though.
 
The original Timothy Truman Hawkworld mini is available as a trade, I like that one but some may find it's post-Watchmen 80s grittyness a turn off. The Katar/Shayera relationship was best in the Truman/Ostrander Hawkworld incarnation.

What pisses me off is that, after getting a tiny fraction of what Corenswet got, being endlessly negatively compared to Cavill for months even though the dude got fucking jacked for the role, she started crying and attacking the only people who can guarantee that her movie succeeds and she has a career 5 years from now.

These Hollywood people are incredibly anti-profit these days.
