He apparently forgot why he had to use GotG characters in the first place; they were the only ones available. Then he tried to use the same format on much more straight-laced characters and it's a horrible mess that retroactively makes Synder films look better.
That is a bit much. I would settle for him getting others to write the idealistic characters. There are DC teams that fit his sensibilities. He should write those and merely oversee the rest for continuity errors.
He is very good at writing for rude assholes, I'll give him that.
Only thing that changed for me on rewatch was Edi Gathegi. In the theater I thought "this dude's a fucking twat." On second watch, he's doing this thing where you can see him thinking "I'm naturally a rude prick, I gotta dial it back." He's trying so hard not to be an douchebag.
