Dead by Daylight and other Asymmetric Slasher Games - Discuss the games and the autistic/entitled communities around them

And they re-followed each other on Twitter after Season 4 went really well, and yet nether follow each other now.

Probably unpopular opinion but I liked Hawkins and always wished they could just remove the Stranger Things part and make a generic space/sciencey horror lab.

Hawkins really depended on what killer you were using. Stealth killers did well until survivors made it to the cancer spot with pallets everywhere and catwalks that allow them to mindlessly vault. The map would be miserable now with Circle of Healing.

It did have that fun bug where survivors would (rarely) just get stuck in level geometry on the second floor above the main area though.

All the gay porn fan comics have better art then this .

Also, god damn does Suzie have downs. Fucking smother it with her mask.
A lot of comic and cartoon artists are pretty 'woke' these days so don't like drawing pretty women and they end up looking like:

I wonder who came up with the dialogue of the sexual assault fridge or the Robotic Twins.

Speaking of the Eruption nerf and killer complaints here´s a clip about Dead Hard that really made me wish i never bought this game.

It´s a perk that literally everyone runs, it counters every M1, most M2´s and forces you to tunnel since starting a chase against the unhooker means chase someone with a bonus health state.

This is why I now hit survivors who just got off hook so I can disable dead hard through deep wound.

Imo, I want DH to at least not work within 2m from a pallet so that they can't have win-win situations from it.

New chapter is such a failure even this thread isn't talking about it. And it hasn't even been released yet. It should be out either the 7th or 8th to coincide with the release of the last run of the Tome.

I think even if you changed DH like that, they can still DH at windows and they can still auto-Dead Hard and still force you to wait out DH up close and you will never be 100% certain that the guy was psychic or he had that program to carry his ass.

No sir, the only way to deal with DH is to nuke it from orbit. Make the perk one time use per match. That's it. It's the only way to be sure.

What I fear is that DH is finally nuked -ding dong the witch is dead- but what other cancer perk will survivors turn to? My guess would be Overcome which would fuck over every single M1 killer including even Nurse especially now that Nurse's range and recovery add-ons got nuked.

I've seen a lot of comments on the Steam Forums about how True "Isn't at the peak of killer talent" and "Is only good for complaining." The survivor mains really think being good at a game that's literally just hold W/Contextual button presses makes you hot shit at vidyagaming. I think a lot of that has to do with how 95% or so of the survivor playerbase are people literally too bad to hang at their MOBA of choice.

Let's be honest for a split second here: Dead Hard is entirely bullshit since it's inception. Personally, I'm running Sprint/Vigil the few times I play since I'm a perfectionist and the matchmaking just isn't good enough to hand me killers in my continent very often, which makes my Dead Hard useless whenever the killer seems to have taken up residence in Mars, using Martian Mickey D's free interstellar wifi program, but when I play killer and don't deliberately lag my connection to death, people seem to have the easiest time properly timing their DH.

I-frames are generally not a thing you want to give people in this sort of game as killer players have to end up respecting the perk's very existence more than any sort of proper use. That 0.5 seconds that seems shitty if you try to time it close means that ideally you throw it early. In that case, I've had situations where I showed them Bubba's saw/bong'd to get them to fuck it up, then M1'd, and they STILL got the fucking DH proc because the netcode is atrocious. Personally, I see the animation then go down anyway about 80% of the time when I do use it, because I tend to think that if I time it as close as possible, it'll work better. No way. Just throw it out like a brainless monkey. Like it's your 30th reversal SHORYUKEN!!! of the match, except if you fuck up a shoryuken you're extremely dead, and if you fuck up DH, well, you might be just fine if you make it to a pallet, 360, luck out with the killer hitting a small tree branch, etcetera. It's supposed to be a high risk high reward move, but in practice, Dead Hard with a good connection is by far the most practical and versatile exhaustion perk in the game. Even if you fuck it up, it rewards you by just being in your moveset. Much like an invincible reversal in a fighting game allows you to do retarded shit like wake up sweep because people will be anticipating the reversal.

Dead Hard counters the lunge's very existence and even then you might get lucky and just get it to work when the killer closes the last 6 meter gap. Keep in mind, the lunge is already supposed to be a "Difficult to master with a payoff" thing for killers where you absolutely can be spun/blocked with a tree/blocked with shitty level geometry where if you're even throwing a lunge, you're already taking more risk to potentially cut a chase shorter. Of course, since the lunge is a 2016 mechanic, it's an artifact of ancient times that has never been properly rebalanced for the insane levels of power creep the survivors have been receiving. Dead Hard in itself is buying you six extra seconds, even if you fuck it up or don't even use it. After that, since you can't lunge, survivors can make it to pallets or windows they otherwise would not be able to reach. Auto Dead Hard is super fucking common and there's basically no way to prove it as they can still fuck up a DH in your face to prove that nah I totes don't need to cheat, I'm just that good, I literally DH'd your max range, delayed on purpose, out of sight, two walls away hard read Pyramid Head beam without a single aura reading perk because I'm just gifted at vidyagames and my reaction times are those of an elite trained athlete even through lag, brah.

On top of that, Dead Hard can astoundingly cockblock up to 29 powers in the killer's roster with minimal thought required on the user's end, while it makes landing these powers as killer an exponentially difficult mixup to guess right in. PH for example: Wounded survivor heading for the shack window, pallet still up. Vault or feint and run away? You can normally just close distance and delay your choice until it becomes clear, but if they have deadhard, it's suddenly an 8-way flowchart where the survivor wins and gets away clean in 7 of 8 possible choices. Dead Hard's at it absolute best when used with the smallest amount of effort and thought on the survivor's part. You just flowchart people to death with this shit, and that's why it's so outrageously unlikable. A lot of the killers are designed with anti-fun in mind from the start. Like how the Knight's guards should just get in chases for absolute free since they're so shit at it anyway, and you should be able to perfectly see survivors while deploying them, while giving them no info, but nah, because we need to design killers who have the survivor's precious "Skillful counterplay" baked into their kits. And I'm not even talking about Cuntfuck, the Brazilian Hunter Thot.

Meanwhile, Eruption has been meta for three months and it gets nerfed to death because we couldn't possibly have dumbfucks kill themselves by handing a killer a three gen, which is literally a skill issue, yet it's an unsurmountable one even with the new HUD letting people know what gens are being worked on and how far along they are.

In short, DBD's designed around the killers and how gimped and useless they need to be to make survivors, a role with literally less mechanics and depth to it than most Playstation Portable games had in them, feel strong. There's no faster, slower, better at healing or repairing survivors, which makes playing as survivor dull as shit, and the only changes they experience are what the killer is doing and how they get to run away from them and interact with their pallets and windows. Duck that Nemmy tentacle after vaulting a window, yass! It's not like the poor fucker has to already hit you three, sometimes four times in a chase and you can use the zombies TO GET AWAY FROM HIM in many situations. Full W that Knight! Make sure you take the Guards on a chase so he can't use his power for literally up to a minute while you are completely safe as long as you remember to not double back! You are so good at this! Someone about to get slapped by Mr. Fat Guard? Just get in there and take the Protection hit! That is a thing you can do, we see no issue with that!

In general, it's not just that killer is much harder and dumber to play than survivor, First person vs Third person being the biggest issue, it's that for all the effort killers have to make to get just one good play in, survivors have to put in a fraction of it to completely deny that shit. And Eruption and Dead Hard are huge examples of that. Eruption was a perk that required a setup, a plan, and an execution to pay off. It wasn't even THAT good of a payoff: You'd just get to slowly walk back to the gens and make sure they weren't going to get slammed on in the meantime. Meanwhile Dead Hard literally just gives you crazy amounts of power for free. And that's all over the perk design. Prove Thyself is about 20 times as powerful as Pop, even in it's heyday, ever was. Circle of Asspats is to this day one of the dumbest fucking things in the game and at least 20 times as powerful as any Hex, take your pick, even Mass Control or Blood Favour pale in comparison to how busted infinitely respawnable free heals for everyone are. Every killer perk requires so much thought, care and execution to make work, even if all you're doing is walking around kicking gens, to get that shit to work in the first place you had to scout out and defend a workable 3-gen situation. But killers getting any sort of decent payoff for their effort is an aberration. Wouldn't want our baby survivors to be sad they didn't manage to escape with their 20 rush perks and 15 second chance perks.

It'd be fine if killers had 20 perk slots, because their perks are simply far worse than the survivor ones, but they don't. It'd be fine to have situational, highly demanding to execute counterplay, but you literally can't get slammed by Wesker as long as you 'member to hug them structures tight, forcing him to just play M1, his power reduced to a lackluster, heavily telegraphed mobility tool. Which is another pure example of anti-fun. DBD's designed from it's very core to benefit survivors, and anyone who still insists on anything else is either crazy, suffering from dire skill issues, or just disingenuous.

Personally, I'm still on my break and my free time has gone to other games lately. I've played a couple, nothing too serious, and coming back to DBD from other games... Geez, it's rough. Everything about killer feels so sluggish, easy to counter and deliberately underpowered. They really need to release a new top tier killer soon or the killer playerbase is likely to bleed out again. On the other hand, compared to the amount of activity your brain is handling with other games, DBD's pretty much a walk in the park. It's about Final Fantasy X levels of interaction. You mostly hold W and push a key every ten minutes or so. The amount of downtime killers are forced to have, holy fuck. Can't even shoot my gun once without having to reload for approximately ten years. It's like the game's punishing me for having the gall to boot it.

Good luck to those of you still on the treadmill, try to enjoy it if you can. Resident Evil 4 is gonna be pretty good, I hope the TCM game is decent as well. I don't think it'll kill DBD, but I sure hope it manages to at least put a dent in it's monopoly. Nothing quite as disappointing as people releasing new assyms only for them to be even buggier and shittier (F13) or a literal gacha fiend trap (Dragon Ball The Breakers). Resistance was still good though, but marred by being tied to RE3make, essentially being a 60 dollar title. On paper, it seems really easy to take DBD's crown, and it's weird no serious attempts have been made at it.

so called Meta Shake up lasted 3 months and every killer perk affected by the shake up had been nerfed and the buffed ones got nerfed afterwards.

Every orange perk has been worsened by them such as Overcharge requiring 12s to start regressing at 100% because of the fucking 75% startup.

6/16 Killer perks are worse off than they were before and only Lethal & Jolt are viable for normal builds.

Thanatophobia was actually good for about a week or two before being panic nerfed because -once again- assholes couldn't handle constantly mending with Legion. BBQ is still good if you have a killer with map control but the problem now is that more survivors run Distortion and Off the Record. Distortion just hard counters any aura-reading at all.

161 players which is still more than VHS.
If only they released when there was a bunch of hype for the game instead of fucking around and finding out.

Someone is playing it though. Twitch has this new analytics wheel in the dashboard to suggest games to you as a streamer, what to stream, what will be popular, I guess? It's usually just one streamer who is streaming to a lot of people and a couple of other people when you click on the page though but I see it suggested no matter what time I look at it.

This is just right now, but it honestly could be any time.

My predictions for the Alien chapter:

Cosmetics out the ass. That much is a given but Behavior must be rubbing their mitts for all the skins they can sell especially on the Alien.

Very strong gen-regression and/or chase perks for the Alien.

Alien's power will be a combination of stealth and speed. For example: imagine if Ghostface can sneak up on you and then sprint in a chase like Legion. I doubt it will be able to climb walls because of the potential of glitches.

Since the Alien will have a cocoon mechanic in lieu of hooking survivors then it's possible that survivors get a secondary objective involving preventing eggs from hatching or removing a chestburster with a radiation kit such as in the Alien Resurrection PSX game.

Survivors will have emergency crates that give them flamethrowers that don't kill the Alien but stun and slow it down ala Alien Isolation.

Climbing might be possible. When the game was first being created players could climb walls and killers destroy them. That's why there is a hole in the Killer shack roof. Does Meet Your Maker or whatever it is have climbing?

It’s official. A Dead by Daylight movie is coming.
Behaviour Interactive has teamed with Atomic Monster and Blumhouse to develop Dead by Daylight’s feature film adaptation, which will bring the world of The Entity to the big screen for the first time.

We’ve always considered Dead by Daylight to be a celebration of the horror genre – on which Jason Blum and James Wan have made significant marks – and we truly couldn’t be happier to announce this exciting partnership.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Jason Blum and James Wan, two giants of the horror film industry, to further expand the Dead by Daylight universe,” says Stephen Mulrooney, Executive Vice President at Behaviour Interactive. “Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are the ideal partners to craft Dead by Daylight’s killer entrance onto the big screen.”

MFW:

A DbD movie... Assuming it actually happens I don't see much potential. They could do the meta thing and make it into a horror version of the recent Jumanji movies (replacing the board game with a retro vidya). Watch that be the plot. Because most of the OC characters are not great. The most interesting ones not obviously based on something else are: Legion, Plague, Oni, Deathslinger, Dredge, Artist, mayyyyybbbbbeeeee Blight and Twins? Blight is obviously a Jekyll and Hyde thing so meh and Twins is obviously inspired by Basket Case. Everything else is based on something else.

"But Bruno, there's the Huntress! My thicc killer queen I coom to!"

The Huntress' mask is based on the ones from Your Next.

"B-but the Doctor!"

Based on the Surgeon from the direct to video Hellraiser sequels.

"Uhm... The Knight? Skull Merchant....?"

I'd say it's likely not going to be the Plague unless they want a film where everyone is vomiting all the time.

My guess is the Legion since that's the most boring option (And they're making the comic about them), I would like to see the Dredge since he's the coolest looking visually but the cult backround is admittedly pretty boring.

Potentially there could be multiple killers and the movie is told from the perspective of Vigo or maybe it'll be similar to Netflix's Fear Street where the Black Vale cult manage to get the entity to summon killers via fog to drag victims back to the entities realm or something like that (In Fear Street an evil witch summons killers for some reason that I forget but there was comparsions to DBD from people who had seen the movie).

Also as a side note Blumhouse are currently making the Five Night At Freddy's movies and I would love to see the salt over on Reddit if they just announce a FNAF chapter in the post credits or something.
