Dead video game series/franchises you refuse to let go

Onimusha. Dawn of Dreams kind of (in some cases badly) mangled the story but I'd like to see what Jubei did while searching for Soki and if she ever found him.

And in the off-chance they do, please please Capcom get rid of Minokichi.

You ever play the remake of the first one?
I have it. Haven't quite gotten far.

Scurge: Hive was a critical and commercial success, had tons of potential, and ended on a cliffhanger.

Good luck ever seeing a fucking sequel due to Southpeak running aground.

I will probably be the only person to say this but - I want a new Dead Space game. Not a Dead Space 3 type of game where it became more action orientated, but more of a Dead Space original where the tension was palpable, esp. when you do a plasma cutter only run through the entire game. Maybe also combine more of the aesthetics from Dead Space 2 which helped flesh out the mythos.

Hell, here's an idea- since the game cribbed heavily off of Event Horizon, why not do something like that- instead of having dozens of monsters, have a certain amount of characters that are slowly going mad due to the Marker and you're trying going slowly mad as well... think Alien: Isolation with seven or eight monsters all the while you're trippin' balls.

But of course, after Visceral failed to make an impact with Battlefield Hardline, I suspect EA is going to shutter them and have them work on mobile games or some shit. Ah well

If not that, then how about a New No More Heroes game? Come on Suda, you know you want to....

You may not know this, but Dead Space actually started as a System Shock sequel. Can you tell?

Ironically, all the games I'd really like to see get a new sequel are also ones that I wouldn't want to see updated with modern technology. I'd love another isometric Fallout game in the style of 1 & 2, another Myth, and more of the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale RPG's by Bioware. I've honestly always had a really hard time adapting to the full-3D versions of games that used to be in isometric 2D style, and I'm a firm believer that graphics are best used to help the viewer visualize a scenario within their own head, instead of used to create a photo-realistic environment.

A bunch of friends of mine all played the Infinity Engine D&D RPG series back in the day, and we all agree that the gorgeous 2D maps were visually superior and more open-ended than any 3D free roaming sandbox to date. Plus, such a game would cost essentially nothing to produce in comparison to the tens of millions spend on fully-visualized 3D roleplaying games.

Have you checked out Wasteland 2 and Pillars of Eternity? Those are very much spiritual sequels to the isometric Fallout and Baldur's Gate games, respectively. They use similar art styles and everything.

If you like the Isometric Fallout games, check out Temple of Elemental Evil, currently available via Good Old Games. It's the last game produced by Blackrock Studios and is essentially a Fallout game using 3.5 D&D rules. It's very good - one of my favorites, in fact.

I can't wait for The Last Guardian! That game is coming out soon right?

...

....

...right??

(Holds Team ICO collection close to self)

I mean, it's not technically dead sure, but it's been years now, and there hasn't been much news of when it's coming out from what I've seen as of late. So I'm not getting my hopes up.

Dragon's Dogma is by no means perfect, but it's just so much fun to play. All you'd need to do with a sequel is update the graphics and iron out the kinks: gives the Pawns better AI and fix that goddamn Affinity system. But it's Capcom, and we all know how they handle their properties.

I really enjoyed the DS Castlevania games (especially Order of Ecclesia). I'd love to see them make more games in that vein sometime.

Same (though I feel that if Metroidvania has to come to an end Ecclesia was a good game to exit on) but that'll never happen so long as Konami owns the franchise. I'm still hoping for the day they sell the rights to Castlevania and Silent Hill and both get bought by companies that will actually make more games.

There's always Bloodstained.

Seems to me like Igurashi might do the Metroidvania formula justice with Bloodstained, dumb decisions regarding the Kickstarter aside (Backer-exclusive weapon? Backer-exclusive bonus boss? Seriously?). And Sony might have Kojima and del Toro cook up something to expand on what was PT...

Which reminds me: We need proper Bomberman sequels. How can you not make more? They can't be that expensive to make and you can spend ages playing it with friends!

The Chrono Series. Only three titles not counting remakes(Chrono Trigger, Radical Dreamers, Chrono Cross) and the closest thing we've gotten to a new game since 2000 was the DS remake of Chrono Trigger in 2008, which while it added new content to connect it to Chrono Cross more, isn't quite the same as a completely new game. And that was eight years ago. It's my all-time favorite videogame series, I love all three games despite the fandom being divided over them usually.

i have googled Monster Rancher almost every two months for the last several years and i'm not entirely sure what i go in hoping to see change every time but i know whatever it is it has yet to happen.
Whenever people talk about that "Monster Hunter" series I always think they're talking about Monster Rancher.

I still play a bunch of old ass games very few people give a shit about anymore. Sometimes you have to go delving into wayback archives, expired domains, and ancient Yahoo groups for CC but in even the most obscure cases it seems like there's a faint glimmer of life still in their old communities, so fortunately I guess I'm not the only one.

Jak and Daxter. The original trilogy is one of my favourite game series of all time and I've played the HD re-releases on the PS3 to death. I want Jak 4 or a reboot. Naughty Dog was working on a reboot before they made The Last of Us, but they abandoned it. And before anyone says Lost Frontier I want a REAL sequel. That one definitely doesn't count.

Sly 5 would also be nice. Thieves in Time ended on a cliffhanger and there was an eight year gap between that and Sly 3 so the possibility of a new one can't be ruled out.

The thing which devastated me most about Lucasarts' demise is that the possibility of KOTOR 3 is officially dead. I know there was very little chance of it anyway what with SWTOR, but there was just a tiny spark of hope that's been definitively snuffed out. Hopefully we get some kind of reboot with updated controls/graphics. Won't be the same though. *sigh*
