Deadlock - An FPS MOBA by Valve.

The game has sadly bled alotta players, which from anecdotal experience is due to the lack of heroes
We had a pool of 9/10 people wanting to play now we are down to 3 all stated that they will wait for more Heroes to be added.
To which I ask, why are (some) of the hero labs heroes just not in the base game.
Nerf the crap outta them so they aren't game braking and add them to the pool, the whole game is an Alpha test, why not get even more data

I understand the need to merge queues this early in development, but man, this is gonna make queuing with my friends so much more painful. I love my buddies but there is a stark difference in match quality in Ascendant and unranked with my friends.
Ranked should be solo queue only. Ranked party queue is always a nightmare in any game.

It's not the only factor. I know people are frustrated with hackers as well but I've only encountered one as of late. Personally the lack of heroes doesn't bother me, it's how rough around the edges the game is in terms of bugs and balance. Game is still missing some features typically found in modern MOBAs as well.
But it's a closed alpha so it's to be expected. I expect that once it releases the numbers will shoot back up.

I haven't played in about 2 weeks, I have about 400 games. Just realized that the game is just a moba but 3rd person, with all of the frustrations and fun that goes with that. After 2.5k hours of dota 2 I realized that mobas just are too much of a time sink, with not enough fun, I decided to just not play Deadlock either. For what it matters I was/am goat 3 rank, don't remember the names. When most games take 40 minutes as well it isn't even shorter than dota, takes just as long.

Ok yeah the hacker factor was also a turn off for a couple mates. But the sad reality is that all shooters have hackers now... outside of ones with super intrusive anti cheat like Valorant - WHICH still has hackers anyway :/
Maybe they will come up with something
But yeah, hopefully more changes come.

Valve has been experimenting with AI based anti cheat. The idea is that it is sever side and analyzes player behavior based on recorded gameplay and player reports. Hopefully they greenlight it with Deadlock.

Oh right, I did hear about that, might honestly be one of the only ways forward
I mean of all the games to test it in, Deadlock would be one of the best ones since it is big tests and all

epic, simply epic (:_(

Is anyone else getting one sided games? I think the new souls system they mentioned in the last update is busted.
I am getting games with 20-30k souls differences (typically within the first 10-20 minutes) that teams literally can not recover from. Yesterday I played a game where we were down 50k souls, and today I played a game where we won 80k souls over the other team. Differences like this prior to the update didn't happen until around 40-50 minutes in, and typically signaled the end of a match. Hell, typically those differences could even be recovered from with some teamwork.

No. I keep getting games that last 40+ minutes where a good portion are comebacks from one side or another. Won two games today where we were down 20k and we won.
Here, have a game where I carried as Ivy. My most sweaty of games. We were so close to losing.

So did this game just die because of Marvel Rivals? I hear nothing about it anymore
https://steamdb.info/app/1422450/charts/#6m here's the stats. The playercount was 150k at the start and has been slowly declining to the current 18k with no signs of stopping. Doubt it's due to Rivals, the novelty just wore off for a lot of people and they got enough.

Personally I burned out from it within couple weeks. I liked the concept of an fps moba, but it's too much of a tryhard game with too much broken shit to be enjoyable. Matches last almost an hour and the game removes a lot of power from the individual player, making a huge part of it waiting for the team to finally do something that's not farming/tapping enemies from afar. It's especially bad when you know there's little chance of winning but the game drags on and on. It feels like I'm wasting my time playing it, it's just not fun.

I also dropped the game. The lack of updates over the holidays allowing unbalanced matches to run rampant has made me disinterested. Valve needs to actually finish the game.

Once hats are added we'll have a bajillion players.
You joke, and I know given the difference in game type and development stage it's not a fair comparison, but TF2 felt better even before the hats.

I am continually impressed at the amount of people posting about how the game is dead when it is an entirely unpolished alpha. It's a new Valve title, of course the playerbase would balloon to a comical number: but why did you think people would stick around? There's less content than DotA's playtest, and no player retention mechanics to keep the attention of retards who need battle passes and cosmetics in front of them 24/7 to keep them interested in a game. The only people left are, unsurprisingly, people wanting to playtest this very unfinished game. It has nothing to do with whatever chinkslop is popular right now, Deadlock would only have a few thousand players regardless after the initial hype of the playtest because it's an entirely unfinished product. Everything is very barebones, even the superficial stuff is barely present. Most of the characters are almost completely untextured not counting a flat color and most of the buildings aren't textured either, just modeled. That's just the petty surface stuff, that's not acknowledging how poorly it's currently balanced and how development has been completely frozen due to the holidays. It had a big boom and then it petered out. Like, genuine question, what did you expect would happen? And why are you comparing it to a finished product?

Not @Mike Matei's Penis, but for myself, it's not textures that make a game fun, it's the core game loop. There are tons of games out there where the graphics aren't the best, but it's fun and I personally wasn't having that much fun with it. Maybe that was true for others as well.
