My guess is he never considered the internet. Instead, he found himself under the spell of his feminazi girlfriend and did it for her approval without considering consequences.
 
To continue the off-topic about Sign Guy, reminds me of that old Onion article about how nobody from that generation is capable of being elected to office because they've all posted stupid shit like that online.
