Dealing with the compromise

I can't get over how people are reacting to this. I get that it sucks the site got hacked. But of all people, we should know that having an IP isn't going to do shit unless you're doing something illegal. I get why Brits and Aussies might be worried but lol. The people getting so upset that the leak was hosted temporarily, really? Has KF never hosted info before that was obtained from a hack? I refuse to believe that. If you used your real email, you brought this on yourself.

Not to mention some of the people that deleted were some of the same faggots that would act so big and bad when someone posted stuff they didn't like "HURRR DON'T YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE? UR SO GONNA GET HALAL'D LOL. NEWFAGS." and at the first sign of any trouble, fucking IPs in a text file, they turn tail and run off screaming. That or they dicked around in chat acting like 16 year old girls posting about deleting their Facebook accounts for attention but ultimately deciding to stay because "omg my friends would miss me soooo much". It's gay. So many people are acting so gay. It's painful.

Yes I know some people are moral grandstanding because they're mad at Null. They're mad the site got hacked. They're mad he hosted the leak. They're mad he took it down. The man just can't do anything right. But come on. Shit happens. This was inevitable.

Lmao I just googled the email address on some account I picked randomly out of the list and found a "BBW Escort" blog tied to it (it's an Amberlynn Reid poster)
Just because Null is into BBW hookers, doesn't mean he's into SSSBBW grifters.

People are being pussies. My info was leaked and a troons mom actually started screaming at my building before he threatened to slit my throat or sue me over what I post here. Let's be real for a second - nothing is going to happen to anyone over an email and an IP address.

Personally I am happy the info was taken down, I don't think Yaniv is smart enough to find it if it isn't posted here but honestly I'm not losing sleep over this.

Here I am remember all the times everyone here told me my user name is stupid.
You know you can generate a secure, easy to say and type name without it looking that stupid. I know my name is unoriginal and mundane but that's the point; it's not tied to anything else, that's what matters. If you're too lazy to think of one lastpass can do it for you.

Examples: pronalia, cionthea,buckerse, etc, etc

Mhmm. That information leak won't affect the vast majority of users here, as almost everyone here understands the security best practices. I assume some have slipped through the cracks though. Even so, probably doesn't matter.

Exactly. as I said before, I have had people try to dox me with way more information than what these idiots got. I'm no stranger to taking measures to locking down my information, because I've been doing it long before I registered to KF due to the fact I spent a lot of times where people doxx the hell out of others just because thy got flamed too hard to cause the same reaction of chasing somebody off.

So, if your e-mail leads to your real name and stuff, then what you need to do is set your privacy to the strictest you can put it. make sure your stuff linked to your real name isn't searchable, and remove people you don't know and don't add people you don't know on any social media. If you do that, then you should be fine. if you do it right, the absolute worst they can do is get your name and a pic of you to beat their furfag meat to and that's it.

I’m going to sign up to Kiwi Farms using my first.lastname@corporate.com email address and talk shit about niggers.

In all serious, thanks for being transparent about all of this. Dealing with compromised hosts is never fun and it takes a lot of fucking guts to admit fault. I know this place is falsely regarded as some sort of elite hacker sanctuary (very false given how much opsec fail was divulged with the leaks), but it’s warming to see tips being shared among the community to ensure the safety and privacy of others in future.

Really sucks to see some decent posters opt for account deletion, but again, thank you for considering the option.

Currently reworking the registration form to hopefully, finally and forever, hammer home what I expect of people here.

Each line must be clicked individually.

After the third one, the actual form appears. I'll clean it up more but I'm really trying to strike a balance between "scare away any new users" vs. "inform people this is how you take care of yourself".

Very tight, I think you cover both bases well.

I might suggest adding something along the lines of ", or linked to an account on another site linked to my personal identity." to the first warning.

But what about the existing users? ? ?

Perhaps reviewing the warnings could be included in your annual GDPR notification process?

they'll still bitch and say you didn't do enough for opsex

I don’t get why anyone would link their actual name to this website- it was made VERY clear when you signed up this kind of stuff could happen, so you gotta be careful about it. Used a email I completely forgot about and only used for this site, just changed it. Nothing gained, nothing lost.
That being said, sucks the site got hacked. Hope Null can get a break after all this.

Optimism - Assuming that people would lurk before registering on any site, anywhere. Surely they would know what goes on here, no? Surely they would be prepared for things like this and take the appropriate measures.
Reality - "NIGGERS NIGGERS FAGS SCHOOL SHOOTER" - posted from my FBI dad's Iphone.

Watch idiots ignore every single clickthrough and do utterly stupid shit anyway.

Why even require an email address for registration? You've said before that it's useful for communication in the event the site goes down, but no one is going to be checking their burner account for updates.
(1) It stops spam.
(2) I really do want a way to contact people who use the site.

Don't use a throw-away, use an alter-ego. Make a proton mail account, make a cock.li account. Make an account you will check and use for things that do not tie to you.
