My biggest issue with the new deathnote is how helpful ryuk was, just agreeing to do that stuff for him. Ryuk didn't even tell light that someone with the death note doesn't have their date of death above them leading misa to find Light. Or when he had to kill the girlfriend of that FBI guy he didn't tell him that she had given him a fake name. I get the message, he didn't want to use the death note in any capacity but I think they should've used another shinigami if they wanted to do that. Or just have the guy kill a few people during the auction. I'd make him less justified and just as much of a murderer as Light, and it would've made it blood-money, so maybe using another shinigami would be better.

I also didn't like how the death note practically fell on top of him. It made it seem like he was deliberately chosen rather than just finding it by random chance.

Him being killed by a rule he didn't know about was also slightly annoying. But all of the above are forgiven because:

But I fucking loved the bank ploy he pulled, needs to use a specific bank AND be under 60, fucking brilliant move, I had a grin when I got to that part.

Beyond the weird expressions, pretty great. I would've laughed if the sight of Ryuk gave him a heart attack though, making the entire world think Kira gave one last fuck you before disappearing forever (until the next Death Note thing comes out)

Although, I'm pretty sure lying about having Kira's power is the same thing literally any world leader competent and taking value in their own life would do. Could just be another one of those situations where the author thinks he's being smart but is really thinking somewhat rationally.

In the modern world, what do you think the high score would be for the number of people you could kill before being found out and captured?

There’s only two rules:
1. Your only goal is to kill as many people as possible. You are free to prioritize who you kill in what order in order to maximize your score.
1*. People killed indirectly (e.g. you kill a pilot, which kills everyone else on the flight when the plane crashes) count toward your score
2. Score counting stops when you are no longer able to write names in the book. This generally means either once you get caught, or once you die.

What would be your strategy for killing as many people as possible without getting caught?

Couldn't you just write President Biden kills himself after launching all nukes?

It's not like there's a big red button in the oval office, I think you'd need to get at least a couple more people in on it to actually launch. But aside from that, yeah, if you could trigger a global nuclear war that's probably guaranteeing the high score.
As for not getting caught, Light got caught because he's a fucking idiot. All he had to do was keep his head down and not contact anyone and just quietly write in his book every night. If he'd included a random delay in each entry they couldn't even have narrowed down what time zone he was in.

Nope, you can't make your target have collateral damage, they'll just default to heart attack. The pilot thing technically works because even though you can't purposely make him crash the plane with zero survivors or whatever, the subsequent heart attack in the sky would do the job anyway
